  1. if peak won't do it, take a day or two over the summer and go up and clear it? i dunno whether blue did it or someone else did, but the trees off the right side of lazy are definitely more cleared out than they used to be, so someone's been clearing stuff in there.
  2. fun event, but it wasnt a $5000 course. some bigger jumps definitely would have separated the field a little bit more. having the jumps as small as they were was definitely limiting to some people. props to everyone involved for making everything run smoothly, and to ski patrol for being kev's personal body guard hahaha edit: not sure of his name, but a little dude from creek got 3rd for the guys, and nipples' rodeo(?) 7s scared everyone who witnessed them.
  3. that's called a dusting jeff.... and why were you waiting in lines? were they not enforcing the VIP?

    Ski poles

as far as carbon poles go, i really don't like goode poles. i don't know if they're necesarily heavier than other carbon poles, but the swing weight is definitely more noticeable. i've had a pair of leki carbon/composite poles for about 3 or 4 years now that a like a lot. they're a little stiffer than goode poles are, and definitely lighter, with a nicer grip as well. also, k2 makes really nice poles for a little less money than other companies' carbon poles. swix stuff is also very solid, but a little pricier.
  5. wrong, wrong, and wrong. traditional t/y guns make just as good snow as fan guns do given the right conditions and settings. when it's cold and dry out, those 'shitty' guns make just as good of snow as fan guns, fan guns just put out more snow. bear's park really couldn't be as good as brecks; there's not much pitch to sustain any really large jumps. it's not all about the park builder. andy's super capable of making great features, but given that bear is located in southeastern PA, it really doesn't have the weather working on its side. case in point is big boulder vs. bear. the mountains are about the same size and both primarily use fan guns, and both have talented park staff, but boulder just gets better weather and has more pitch to allow for bigger features.
  6. so its not ok to close love all day because you want to ride it, but if they closed boulder all day for the comp, but other people wanted to ride that, that'd be fine? why do i need to PM you? i've got nothing to say to you that i'm afraid to say in a public forum. and yes, i'm very serious about nine year olds; you can ask john from buckmans if you don't believe me, but there were definitely kids under 10 in their comp last year, so seeing as how we don't live in CO or UT or BC and nine year olds around here do not hit 50+ foot jumps daily, i'd like to think its not the best idea for them to be hitting an 80 foot jump. and if you spin of everything in love, including lips to rails, and don't understand why that's a problem, then you really don't have a basis to complain, just as you say doug has no basis to be giving park reports. p.s. mods feel free to delete this if you think it's junking up the thread. sorry johnny.
  7. really? you honestly think it's better to have the comp on boulder and have nine year olds hitting an 80 foot jump? just because you want to straight air the jumps on widow and jump off the sides of the lips onto the rails?
  8. i'm headin up tonight with kt, anyone else gonna be there?
  9. you mean to tell me womens' bodies are different than mens? who knew?!
  10. if you like the PE the kung fujas is not gonna cut it. its a much much softer ski.
  11. i guess we're gonna need to drive back up there hung over on sunday morning for you to have something to take pics of huh?
  12. just wondering if anyone's got any tele gear that they want to sell? my girlfriend tried it out a week ago and really liked it, just wondering if anyone's got anything she could pick up?
  13. you sure that's not a national park thing? i know there's a bunch of mountains in colorado and utah that have to close by a certain date because they lease state/national park land and they have to close due to animal migration or something like that.
  14. lame. although the way the place is looking, they'll be lucky to have snow then if they dont blow some more asap. some nice dirty spots on challenge, lower sidewinder, and switchback, and sidewinder looked like it was falling apart, but it was closed all day.
  15. exactly, but depending on how bad the gasket is damaged, it can damage the pistons rings and seals too. when the gasket isnt there, or is worn, the pistons get some wiggle room, which can cause ever more damage, so there might be a need for some new parts in that area as well.
  16. just signed up. any word on whats being planned for the setup?
  17. who says anything unsafe has to go on? what if i owned a ford e350 shortbus? i could fit like 15 people in my car!
  18. i completely agree. i'm sure there are tons of subys out in colorado. justin, you might be able to find a used engine somewhere out there and yank the gaskets out of that if you've got the space to do the work on it if you feel mechanically inclined.
  19. biggest is probably about 50 or so, a little bigger than the bottom hit in bear's tubing line as of the last i was there.

    Ski boot help

sounds like you need some arch support, and the footbeds that come with hotronics certainly do not provide any. i'm not sure what buckmans does specifically, but check out nestors on rt. 145 in whitehall, it should be right on your way to blue. similar to zaps, A Line footbeds are a step shy of the full custom deal, but we've had a ton of success with them, and they're cheaper than full customs. swing by on your next trip up to blue and get your boots tweaked beforehand, and then stop by afterwards if you're still having problems, that way you can get everything sorted out before utah. i'm gonna be out there the same time, where are you skiing?
  21. night or day? i'll be up thursday morning. as of this weekend, the park was on point. all the rails are really fun, and the jumpline is nice too. if you get there early, they're having a demo day.
  22. i'm assuming he's not competing?
  23. we'll see. i guess there's a chance. only if you're on your PEs though.
  24. that creature on the tails does bare a slight resemblance to you though
