  1. interesting in what way exactly? as in, it wasn't really snow? cause that's pretty standard.
  2. no, because the trail isnt steep enough to get speed for that, unless it was the very first hit in the park, which is was not, and therefor worthless. also, i doubt the jump on boulder was actually 35 feet, but i didn't hit it so i can't be sure. people in the poconos tend to grossly overestimate the size of jumps.
  3. thank god they don't have that jump on freedom anymore. it was a huge waste of snow and trail real estate that could have been used for a good rail setup. you're kidding yourself if you think that trail is suitable for any sort of worthwhile jump.
  4. doug i dunno what 1"-3" you saw... blue had maybe 2 by the time we left, with less and less as we got closer to philly.

    your ski boots

i hope you realize the big slimy can of worms that one just opened up...
  6. you sure it made it to her? you've gotta be very careful whose toes you step on up there. or the general content of the email?
  7. it amazes me how much information mark posts on here for everyone to read. it's really nice to see that someone at the top is taking into consideration what the customers are really interested in instead of just seeing the bottom line. i don't think many other ski areas would be so open about that, especially with dollar figures.
  8. i hope you didnt go to killy this weekend. i went with my girlfriend and didnt even get to ski friday because of the storm dumping about an inch of ice on everything and all of killington losing power for about 2 hours, and then saturday it was probably the worst conditions i've ever skied with only 2 lifts running for half the day with about 3000 people on the mountain. not at all worth the rediculous prices they were charging. we hit okemo today, and it was a world of difference. i dunno about their parks, but the snow and grooming in general was much much better today than at killy.

is it getting you right on the back of your heel landing switch? kevin had sorta the same deal and he just kinda ground out a deeper heel pocket in his and maybe padded the achilles a bit and that seemed to fix his problem. as for the ankle thing, maybe try a donut on it to start? you do have goofy feet.
  10. you really skied coombas at blue? could you get in more than 5 turns top to bottom?
  11. i was up yesterday from opening til about 1. i find it really sad/pathetic/absurd/retarded that the best snow conditions of the weekend were actually when it was raining. hopefully they get the snowmaking situation figured out, because a lot of people are gonna be disappointed if what mainstreet's excuse for snow ends of being mid winter conditions on the rest of the mountain. i'll chalk it up to the older guns and early opening, since skiing in november in any form is still pretty fun. the park was pretty on point yesterday while i was there though. park crew was doing a great job of maintaining everything and taking rider input on what needed to be changed. the park actually got better as the morning went on as they came through and tweaked the lips on some of the rails and the jump.
  12. take it to the shop at bear if you ride there often. the guys there will be able to help you out. if you feel like risking your knees by doing it yourself, if i remember correctly, there's an arrow etched into the metal tab on the heel. the point of that arrow should be touching the heel piece when your boot is inserted. if the point isnt touching and is too far away, then you have too little pressure. if the point cant even be seen and hardly any of the tab is visible, then you have too much pressure (according to salomon; i always ran my 912's with 'too much' forward pressure, but that's me and i'm in no way suggesting you do it)
  13. i'll probably be up tomorrow morning, and i probably wont go anywhere near mainstreet either. i was up tonight and conditions were pretty near the worst i've ever skied up there. it was borderline dangerous actually. i wish they would start blowing better snow sometime this decade. maybe it would give park crew something to work with instead of ice and granular crap.
  14. how is it abuse when you know he enjoyed every minute of it?
  15. how bout the ones that werent sitting on their snowmobile who were fixing the lip on the jump and the rail next to the snowmobiles? there were like 6 park crew kids in the park, they really didnt all need to be working and they probably werent all on the clock anyway. rice and crew did a great job with come around. its way more fun than opening day has been the past few years at blue. my only hope was the flat down flat, but i guess i can wait for that since there are a few other fun rails out right now, and the jump is actually built correctly. good job guys and lexi!
  16. to oakley et. al's credit, you stevo and finkin are probably doing more work than anyone else on park crew... we'll find out tomorrow what the setup is, and hopefully rice has brought in some kids that are going to work and make the parks at blue as good as they should be this year.
  17. i try and learn from my mistakes. sorry, that's not how the real world works. granted, working part time on park crew at blue is far from the real world. i don't at all disagree with you, they should give you guys more say in what gets done, but ranting about it on a message board does not get your point across, it just makes you look foolish. if you're really that serious about making things better, schedule a meeting with the people that make the decisions, do your homework, and come in prepared with what you'd like to do, why you'd like to do it, and how it would make blue a better experience for the customer, and then someone MIGHT listen.
  18. you realize management from blue does read this messageboard and its probably not the best idea to be shittalking your employer on a public forum, right?
  19. uhh none of those are new except for maybe the rainbow, i can't tell how big it is compared to some of the other stuff from those pics, but they used to have a flatstock rainbow, so its probably just that. i really dont give a crap about the color scheme, but some more single barrel/flatstock urban stuff would be nice. like taking that flatstock that was the first rail on the right on sidewinder and setting that up as an urban down rail. and no bashing the fdf, even if its flatstock, its by far one of the most fun rails at blue, and its been around forever, the thing's a classic!
  20. i know blue does that at their upper pond. they basically have a bunch of sprinklers in the pond to expose more surface area of the water to colder temps to cool it down quicker. i'm really curious to hear what the park was like today. i'm planning on riding tomorrow, and if bear is still in good shape, i'd rather head there than boulder since its so much closer to me.
  21. so, what exactly are they planning for come around? every other resort publicizes the crap out of what they're gonna have...
  22. neoprene toe boxes are awesome, but so is the open cell foam type material in my banshee pros. it gives a little just like the neoprene, its super warm, and it helps cut down on toe bang. yay lange!
  23. start tailgating in the parking lot at boulder.
  24. so, is blue gonna sack up and try and beat boulder at their own game and push for opening on friday instead of wait til saturday? wouldn't that be quite the surprise.
