  1. this isnt entirely the whole story. it affects my family as well, not me so much, but there are definitely still benefits to the group leaders for ski clubs. it's not like they just completely did away with the hookups and said ok, you only get 10 punch cards now. i'm not quite sure i understand your situation though, how exactly did an ambassador card help on a ski club night any more than a 10 punch card would? in fact, at any given time, the ambassador card was good for one person, whereas the 10 punch cards could be used for 10 tickets at the same time if you really wanted to, probably making it easier to hook up chaperons with skiing privileges. they did change their policy for shop employees as well, but that's another topic.

or... cause i snapped a pair carving down mainstreet on opening day at blue a few years ago...
  5. 3 rails if i remember correctly. dfd up top on the left, then low short double barrel on the right, then down bar on the right after that. i was skiing in the beginning of november, on non-rink snow, so i don't really care what they had out, they were open when no one else was.
  6. at least you looked fresh as shit and had a dope cut. and at least trev got kicked in the shins. good thing my best trick of the trip was the 9 i didnt even land, or maybe that nose butter on the nipple mound thing.
  7. and i forgot to get my gloves and hood. crap.
  8. it took my parents about 3 years to get a locker once they applied for one, and we've been getting passes at blue for about 20 years now. that said, i'm super glad they have one, definitely beats waiting in the ski check line when you go in for lunch.
  9. oh really? i didn't know easton changed its name to quakertown? what are you talking about sir?
  10. can you please skirt that s rail? that thing is downright scary without skirting under it.
  11. well, they got the go ahead to put up a test tower to see if having a turbine would work in that area. its a step in the right direction for sure. if you read the article, barb actually talks about her incentive for putting up the turbine would be to keep costs down, making skiing more affordable to more people. whether it's a pr gimmick or not, it sounds like blue is really taking a turn in a good direction.
  12. i'd hardly call her a cheapskate. sure, she might need some new ski gear, but from what i've heard, they're putting a crap ton of money into the place. if done right, a wind farm might actually make blue money. sure, they may still need to get some power from ppl or whoever controls that side of the mountain during the winter, but during the offseason, the turbines would be pumping power back into the grid, most likely offsetting the excess they use during the winter or possibly even bringing in a nice check. i think it's one of the smarter ideas they've had up there if they can get it to go through. there's a wind farm in AC and you don't see a ton of dead seagulls all around it.
  13. i picked up a flier for it today, i think its 20 for friday, and 30 for saturday and sunday? they are gonna have a bunch of ski/snowboard stuff there, vendors i guess, and food and alcohol, so it should be cool regardless. props to blue for finally getting their heads out of the ground and trying to do some new events that will generate some revenue in the offseason.
  14. debatable... although it will certainly attract plenty of people, so in that sense, sure.
  15. i may know someone interested in the bike
  16. come in to nestors during ski mania, there should be a pretty good selection of both this upcoming season and leftover boots from last season to choose from. pretty much everyone makes a few models that are more than a 98mm last in the forefoot as well. sadly, 98mm seems to be on the narrow end these days. thats what my new langes are and i wish they were a tiny bit narrower. thats what my dalbellos were, and they also got a bit too big after packing out as well. the head rs boot feels near perfect for me straight off the wall, but the way the lange flexes, plus the added freeride features sold me.
  17. i've heard nothing but bad things about foam injection liners actually. i guess it totally depends on how much/how hard you're skiing. at a high racing level, i can see where they're beneficial, in that you get a perfectly custom fit, but in a recreational level where you're realistically going to have a pair of boots for several years, i feel like they'd pack out beyond the point of being useful. whenever i get new boots, i go slightly tighter than what's comfortable sitting on the bootfitting bench, because 10 to 15 days down the road, they pack out and end up being pretty spot on. if you're lucky enough to be able to afford new boots often enough that packing out is not an issue, then i'm jealous, but even working at a shop with access to all sorts of tools and equipment whenever i need it, i still prefer a hand-sewn liner. p.s. lange's banshee boot for next season is the best boot i've skied in thus far. if it fits your foot, check it out.
  18. correct. provided the boot fits, which it sounds like it does in this case, for the most part, you can do things to tweak the flex of the boot.
  19. a lot of factors come into play besides just the shape of your foot. for example, someone that doesn't have great range of motion in their ankle will often times be more comfortable in a stiffer boot, because if they are putting pressure on the boot to flex, and it has enough pressure to flex more than their ankle is accustomed to, that can be uncomfortable. in my case, the opposite is true. i'm a strong skier, and very aggressive, but like a softer boot because i have a very flexible ankle, and the softer boot allows my ankle to flex as it naturally wants to. if you're fine with the flex of your boot, as in, you don't get ankle, heel, or shin pain from overflexing and bottoming out the boot, then i'd say its not too soft. if you do run into problems where on difficult terrain, you find yourself bottoming out the boot and causing discomfort, maybe you do need something stiffer. as far as the toe box, you should still be able to stretch/grind it a bit more to alleviate the issue. also, if you don't have any kind of aftermarket footbed in your boots, you might want to look into a pair of those, as they're bring the inside of your foot off the boot a little bit and get your knee/ankle/foot back into alignment.

    Hey Ladies

my 98mm waisted ski does not feel wide whatsoever when skiing on groomers out west. sib's got the right idea, and the experience to back it up, since she skis conditions a lot more similar to what you will get than what most of us do. something in the 90-95 range might feel a bit wide the first day or two on them, but once you get used to keeping a wider stance, you don't notice the width. after skiing on wide skis, and then going back to my narrow (85mm) skis for spring conditions in whistler, i wished i brought my wider skis because they're just so much easier to ski on anything that isnt perfectly groomed.

    Hey Ladies

i'd stay away from the b83. its not a bad ski, but since you live in colorado and have access to great soft snow, go for something a bit wider. if you can find it, check out the nancy from k2... http://www.k2skis.com/skis/ski.asp?ProductID=23. the 159 would be the size for her. it actually measures out to about a 163, which should be just slightly above her head, perfect for soft snow. mount the ski at +5, and she's golden. another one you may want to check out is the roxy black magic. basically the same ski as the dynastar big trouble, but in a slightly toned down flex and smaller size for girls. my brother skis the big troubles and loves them, and i've skied them as well; they're a great all around ski, a little bit narrower than the nancy, but a tiny bit stiffer as well. size 166 mounted +2 would work well. http://www.backcountryoutlet.com/outlet/QK...&mv_pc=r147 if you see anything else that looks appealing and have questions, just let me know.
  22. if you woulda posted this like a week ago, i would have been all over it. just got a santa cruz 6'2 fish.
  23. we were selling px12 jibs with wide brakes for 169 this past season, we probably have some left over that you'd be able to pick up during ski mania in august for a little less than that. if you're getting a px binding, just make sure you actually get one with a break wide enough without bending, because they dont take to bending quite as well as the p series did.
