extreme replaces the PE, but its got less sidecut, making it more park specific. the kung fujas is more along the lines of the old seth pistol as far as dimensions go, and the new ski, from what i've heard, is a true twin, thats replacing the fujative as their park specific ski. the hellbents still look sick.

the fever still on for tuesday night with a rebuild then? p.s. put the mound/hip back in, it made a good drop in for the jump line

so snowboarders get people like keir dillon and the leines brothers... and skiers get darron rahlves? not to knock his ability as a skier, but he doesnt exactly seem like the type to join in on the railjam and throw down along side all of us like the guys on the snowboard side of things.

big gaps onto rails is not a bad thing. arent you on park crew?

in response to KT's image... extend the distance between the lip and knuckle, its a little disproportional, but it gets the idea across. we're slowly gathering evidence (video of people almost dying) so keith if you need any footage to show management that there's a problem, we'll help if we can. hopefully they finally realize you know more about the park than they do, and they let you do your thing. i know there's some good ideas being tossed around, and they need to happen. aside from everything thats been said about safety, which is definitely the foremost concern for everyone, have you thought about making the jump line 3 hits instead of 4? keep the first as it is, and push the second a little farther down, making it a bit longer as well, and use most of the snow from the 3rd to bring the lip of the 4th a little higher up hill and make the landing taller? no one's really hitting the 3rd right now because if you adjust speed for the 3rd, you're having to tuck into the 4th just to barely clear it. the landing on the 4th, as i think dan said earlier, doesn't leave much margin for error distance wise, but other than that, its a really fun jump, it could stand to be about 15 feet longer with some more kick though.

there is no 'best' size, its really dependent on the ski, and your preferences. i'm 6', 165lbs, and i ski a 179, although i'd probably ski something a tiny bit longer if k2 made it. i ride 179 fujatives and love them, but i also rode the silencer for a good part of last year, and i liked those a lot for jumping since they were a bit stiffer. if you're doing most of your skiing here, you'd be a complete fool to get a pair of hellbents. they're a really fun ski, but borderline worthless to ski in PA. the seth comes in a 169, 179, and 189. i ski the 179, and its a fun all mountain ski, but i don't like them for jumping just because it's a lot of ski to throw around in the air. the dumont in the 161 would be too short for you, but the 176 would work out pretty well. its a softer ski though, so you might want something with a bit more substance to it. if you'd like to stick with k2 (no reason not to, their skis are awesome), check out the PE, silencer, or fujative in a 179, and mount it at, at least, +9 forward of traditional. besides that, the 175 trouble maker would be a really solid bet too. justin suggested looking for a true twin, which some people really like, but i personally like a directional twin better. if you want to go the true twin route, check out the volkl wall in a 177 for a solid platform to jump with.

all you kids love bugbee. where's the love for jersey dave?!

you live in colorado you clown, keep these

yeah, i think just extending the 'hip' farther down the trail so you could use it to drop straight in to the left side would solve the issue. right now i'm just losing speed trying to hold an edge through that turn, which is icy, and as we all know, park skis/boards dont hold an edge on ice. i'm sure it will be worked out shortly.

i'd hardly call killy anything close to big mountain... but yeah, i'm going with my girlfriend, so i wont be skiing park. it'll be nice to go somewhere besides blue and actually be able to make more than 5 turns and be done with the run. last time i rode park at killy was early season last year, and it wasnt all that great. its a fun mountain to cruise around though. jeff, you telling me your mom was at stratton doesnt tell me anything about the skiing, you clown.

i ride for K2 and dalbello, but i'm certainly not pro. as far as the industry is concerned, you're not really 'pro' until you've got a signed contract with someone. if somebody is getting hooked up by their local rep, or even the product manager for a company, they're not really pro until its on paper.

as a snowboarder i can see how speed was an issue if you wanted to hit the bigger side on the jumpline. we werent having problems, but we had to skate a few times and tuck for the first jump, but once you land the first one, speed is perfect all the way through the line, which is why they built them as close together as they did: no guess work, which is really a nice change for blue. like toast said, the last hit is more than likely going to get bigger, there will be a few more rails out as well. you should have done the rail jam, it was one of the most fun i've ever done, just because it was super laid back. no set amount of runs, no score sheets, just kids throwing their best tricks and trying to make the best impression for park crew, which is why they werent out fixing lips for that portion of the morning (although i thought everything on sidewinder was still pretty good after the jam was over.) props to keith and the crew for a really fun park and a fun rail jam, even if the turnout wasnt huge.

anybody been to VT lately? i'm hitting up stratton, okemo, and killy for a long weekend and was wondering how they're doin up there
-
what is a flow rail?
-
not to sound like an ass... but saying that ALL the instructors at blue are better skiers than the general community here? that's a ballsy claim if i've ever heard one.
-
yes, the race team kids need to stay the hell out of the park when they have two trails closed to train on. pretty sure there's signs up in ski school that specifically say that... as for the top of sidewinder, i never had a problem with finding space to step in.
