Super-G Racer (6/10)

  1. I like to set it on ski IQ and tips, so it gives you a good beep or bad beep after each turn. And then when you stop for 10 seconds or so, it gives you your ski IQ for that run. No bumps at blue yet. Still probably most useful on groomers, and also on easier groomers I get the highest scores. But it’s hard to get into the Zen headspace when it’s on.
  2. Forgot my gloves in the car, had to walk back for them. Stopped a little bit after 11, paradise is holding up real well. Widowmaker is a little slick, but midway and chute were nice. Groomers working in the bottom of razors. Last night, the groomers seemed to have just groomed a single path up the slopes and left half of them ungroomed. A little bouncy first thing, but it evened out after a while.
  3. You are never alone when you are with yourself.
  4. Been using the Carv since the middle of last season and love it. The new sensors are much better and the user interface is much more intuitive. I use active coach about half the time and just the Ski IQ callout after each section with chairlift review the other half so I can listen to my tunes. Really helped my skiing. Only skiing groomers at Blue, so would be interesting to know how the new off piste coaching is.
  5. Last time I was at CB was when my kids were in the high school ski club.
  6. A little delay this morning in getting the new six pack going so I headed over to the old six pack and did a first run down lazy. Everything on the west side of the mountain was pretty well groomed. Pretty quiet on the slopes until about 10:30, when things started getting a little fluffy except for chute, midway and lower main. Didn’t get over to Paradise until later, and it was a little fluffed up also. Ski patroller said they were hoping to get the quad running before the holidays. Bunch of whales on TCS Challenge and Curzi’s cabin looks like they could be groomed out and open by this weekend.

  7. Sesame Place - Going there with the grandkids in a couple of weeks. Was there last year, and they had a blast.
  8. Didn’t head over there, but apparently challenge is open today
  9. Best conditions of all year, and they are holding up well. People are just starting to arrive.
  10. Monday 12/16 Warmish and soft. They groomed One Park and left Demattes un groomed. Very quiet today. Guns are set up on Exhibition ready to go.
  11. Sunday, Dec. 15 Out for a couple of hours, started about 10:30. Lot across from the lodge was 3/4 full. Lodge itself was pretty quiet. Lapped One Park and Demattes. Blowing snow on the crossover from e mtn to top of Challenge. Snow conditions were pretty pristine, firm with a nice carvable cover. Still only 2 rails on One Park.
  12. Schifern just had a procedure to clean out a scabbed over pocket in her wound and have a drain put in. 😔
  13. Ski patroller on the lift said the lower section of Lazy was too narrow and unsafe so they shut it down. Said they would try and get the falls open tomorrow to get some of the faster skiers over there. Also they were waiting for a part for the quad that won’t be delivered until the new year. Upper section of midway got real skied off by noontime. Did a lot of Paradise runs today.
  14. Surprisingly, a good day after all the rain, slopes were definitely pretty firm but good coverage. Like Mix, I lapped midway and lower main mostly, left about 1030. Light was pretty flat on lower main early, and the area above midway was boiler plate later on. A fair number of groomer gouges on Chute. The lodge/Vista area had slightly sticky blown snow, but was good grippy skiing. A lot of snow guns going. All in all, a pretty good morning. I think I would trade not having coming soon open if they run the two 6 packs all day. No lines at all today.
  15. Usually detune the tips and tails with a gummy stone.
