  1. Got in to the lot about 830, strange not seeing anyone in the ski and ride parking area. Did some runs on razors, nightmare, freefall. All in good shape although freefall was a little mixed with scraped off areas and snow piles. And then over to Main Street and Curzi’s cabin. Conditions were pretty good, not great, with brown spots and soft snow building up in the usual spots by the time I left at 11. The upper slopes in general didn’t get to cut up, and razors was a tossup with Nightmare for the run of the day. Upper main street was pretty empty the times I ran it, about the only place you could do once wide turns. The lift lines were pretty short, but you had to fight your way through the crowd at the bottom of the new lift to get to the gates. They closed the crossover coming from Main St. to homestretch, so the run out down to the new lift got pretty busy. I think they were running some park stuff there.
  2. Holding down the fort while people fly off to have fun somewhere else. Fairly light crowd today, no lift lines and slopes weren’t too crowded. Upper parts of the slopes were in pretty good shape, but pretty much all the lower parts had heavy sugar snow develop, especially lower Main, lower paradise (both have some very sketchy cover areas), and homestretch. Razors was a lot smoother than yesterday. Lazy was pretty nice, with sugar snow piles starting to develop after the turn. Even Falls was starting to get fluffed up. First flakes started about 1130, snowing pretty heavy now.
  3. Curzi’s, Midway, Lower Main was nice, as was Lazy. Another fast mover video. 78CC46C9-2204-46B5-AE7B-823F9E70A03A.MOV
  4. And out to Harrisburg. Was always interesting to take an early morning Detroit flight and follow it over coal county past Sunbury.
  5. Near Butte MT, they put spas in old uranium mines for the health giving properties of radon😅. And here I am blowing it out of my basement.
  6. Finally some snow just north east of Blue.

  8. Another Dreamweaver vid with an inbound fast mover E9B15B7E-A6ED-424F-B2F4-683AD3CAAF22.MOV
  9. TCS was also pretty nice. No one seemed to anxious to get on the quad at rope drop, so I got first chair by myself and first run down Dreamweaver. Razors was roped off right from the beginning, I think they prepped it last night are letting it sit for the race this weekend. Last run nearly got clobbered on chute by a snowboarder straight lining it. Poetic justice when she wiped out in the soft stuff on lower Main and I helped clean up the yard sale. 10. Looks like they might have finished up renovations, contractors have been working there for quite a while. They have a pretty good reputation locally.
  11. Heard that it was shut down for maintenance yesterday around noon. They may be on an increased inspection and lubrication routine for a new installation.
  12. Apparently their dogs use absorbent pads inside the house rather than being let outside.
  13. Nice conditions today (17th). Razors, Paradise, Main and Curzi’s all nice with a lot of grip. Bottom of Main was a little soft, but the top was great with only a few softish icy spots (did sharpen the edges last night which helped). Bottom of Main was 1000% better than Saturday. Chute was real nice. Freefall still closed. Race team set up some brushes on one side of the bottom headwall of Razors. Some confusion at the quad rope drop when the season pass gate started opening a minute or so before the rest of the gates. After a half hour they opened up the new lift, but then about 1130 shut it down and opened up challenge express. The new lift sure is comfy with a lot of headroom for the safety bar, but you are almost at a dead stop when you get off. Don’t miss the uphill climb to Widowmaker. Most of the people getting off the new lift were heading over to Burma or to lazy mile. 14 runs today mostly on razors and Main Street. Top speed of 38, so it was a pretty mellow day.
  14. Just before where the two creeks merge is a state trout stocking point.
  15. Also in the same edition, they mentioned that funding was assigned to finish the missing section of the D&L bike trail from Coplay to Riverside Park, so it will go from Bristol up to Wilkes-Barre.
  16. Whew, that was a close one.
  17. Can you ‘continue to website’?
  18. Sigh, for the more computer disadvantaged. https://www.dropbox.com/s/4372f09hrfqqjku/Blue Mountain Resort renames ski run after late P’burg resident and avid skier D. Scott Curzi.pdf?dl=0
  19. https://www.lehighvalleylive.com/entertainment/2023/01/blue-mountain-resort-renames-ski-run-after-late-pburg-resident-and-avid-skier-d-scott-curzi.html Nice little cabin. Most of the article seems to be behind a paywall.
  20. Yes, geothermal.
  21. That might be enough to miss the window for a run on Razor today.
  22. A lot of people use underground piping for heat pump heat sinks.
  23. Love the flooring.
  24. No, once the contractors move all their gear out. Some parts left over laid down near the main road. One run on Razors and one on Main, and then I called it a day.
  25. A lot better conditions today versus yesterday. Left at 11 when the quad corral was full, but no line beyond the gates.
