  1. Razors was pretty clean first thing. Then the softer snow on it got a little trenched up. Demo day was for the ski industry only.
  2. According to the guy skiing with him, he hit one of the ramps wrong, got launched, went through the first of the double fence and stopped tangled in the second fence. He did have broken vertebrae in his neck, but will recover ok. I hit the ramps for the first time today carrying some speed, but was careful to pre jump them.
  3. Had the opposite experience. First run down Razors was perfect. TCS and Challenge also great first thing. BTW, was told the boarder that wiped out on Razors last Monday morning is home from the hospital and will heal up OK.
  4. Def not a Meh day. Saw JL laying down railroad tracks Midway to lower main. Spent most of the morning on Razors, NMDW and Challenge. Fresh edges on narrow skis, smooth slopes, nothing better. Just got sunnier as the morning wore on. Overheard a convo on the lift about KSL trying to sell blue because they can’t put a hotel (and probably no water park) up. Settling in to watch the Men’s Worlds Super G on skiandsonowboard.live.

    2/5 Meh

1 to 3 snow turning to freezing rain and ice in the afternoon. Seem to be calling for more snow and less rain than earlier forecasts. A special welcome back for you from the weather gods.

    2/5 Meh

Kind of a meh day. Sunny though. Blowing on Sidewinder, Switch closed, think they were blowing earlier. Main kind of marbled. Heard Lazy was nice. Freefall and Challenge good, Razors had icey spots skier’s left side and was pretty firm overall. ROTD was NM/DW - good conditions, not too many on it. Main St lift still down. Not too crowded, bunch of clinics on the slopes. Waiting for the snow tomorrow. Shout out to JLaw.
  7. Started off with pretty firm slopes, but softened up quickly. Quad and Challenge lift going. Razors closed at 9:30 for a clinic. Switch and Main stayed pretty quiet and in good shape although Switch could use some love from the snow makers; Big brown spot near the bottom. Wind was starting to pick up. Lazy, NM/DW, Freefall and Sidewinder in good shape.

    2/3/25

Challenge chair got running about 10:30. Kind of long lines on the quad before that, but it was nice because no one was making the long trek to Switch and Main, which were in great shape. After the challenge lift got started, switch back got a little skied off, but the trail edges were still pretty good.
  9. Thursday morning before tomorrow’s rain. Still blowing Challenge, Razors was closed; Lights were on (nobody home) and a couple were out so they might be fixing them. Lots of marbles, cookies and icy spots. Main was Ok, Freefall, Sidewinder and Switch weren’t too bad. Upper Midway was marble city. Best snow was on NM/DW, but all the features made it tough to ski with other people on it. They might be packing Challenge with snow so they can push it down to Coming Home at the end of the season like they did last year. Got to take the latest closing prize away from Boulder. I seem to recall last day of last year there was just a narrow path down coming home. The merge into the bottom of Lazy Mile from Sidewinder was like a pinball machine with people turning into it at speed from both directions (lower Sidewinder closed for grooming) and the trail down to the patrol shack had a lot of ice and snow snakes.
  10. So I talked to a guy in the line who attended the snowmaking tour last Sunday at the festival. He said the snowmaker were very aware that not letting the snowmaking whales sit for a few days to dewater allows the groomers to generate icey cookies and marbles, but they just can’t afford to let the slopes sit that long, particularly at the start of the season.
  11. Another nice sunny warmish day. Some nice runs to start off with, and then by 10:15 the corrals were full beyond the gates. A lot of city kids with the day off. Hope they had enough lefties to start the Challenge sixpac. Freefall, Sidewinder, Switch and Main were all in good shape. Razors was good until kids started traversing the slope to avoid the race bumps. Still blowing the cookie factory on Challenge. Windy up top and on the lift, but unlike yesterday, the wind wasn’t too bad on the slopes, and what there was was blowing down the slopes.
  12. Cruising down lower Main against the wind. IMG_0744.mov
  13. But now he is 77. Hope I’m still in the line at that age.
  14. Refugees from the slopeside lot.
  15. Nice shot of my rocking chair. 😉
  16. Doesn’t stop me. Notice my skis don’t lie on the flats too well, so putting some swix white extreme cold wax on tonight
  17. Even though you don’t see us, rest assured you are being watched. Was walking in from the slope side lot when you turned in to the lodge. Didn’t see you the rest the day, guess it was because I started on the quad and must have switched over to six pack when you moved over to the quad. Razors was great, and loved doing huge turns on Sidewinder. Quit a little early because I just wasn’t able to keep a reasonable speed on lower Main.
  18. Carrie was a great instructor, and Mattie set up some nice courses.
  19. Great day also, other than my pole trying to stab me in the quad lift line. Second time in a week. I think my poles are possessed.
  20. -15 on the car thermometer this morning driving thru Kunkletown and Little Gap.
  21. Floyd’s is apparently finally open.
  22. Good day today, Tuesday. 2 degrees on the car thermometer at the house, but it read -8 in the Buckwa creek valley north of Blue. Everything was in good shape, with NM/DW closed for major grooming. Very light crowds. Warmed up to 17 at the mountain by noon.
  23. I think it had one pretty steep run. My son was in a race there over 15 years ago and one of the racers crashed and burned and got pretty messed up. If I recall correctly, he was helicoptered out. Had a nice WPA type lodge with a bunch of people using straight skis.
  24. Only the first row of slopeside parking was open, because they were expecting 18 buses this afternoon to use the roped off area. They did have a security guard directing people into that row if there were open spaces available. This prevented people from having to back out if there are no spaces. They were grooming out Nightmare/ Dream Weaver, putting in some big features, and they were also working on the broken down groomer on razors edge. Conditions were a lot like yesterday, but with bright sunshine and no wind. Lazy mile was in much better shape than yesterday. Sidewinder was the ROTD, Switch was nice too. First tracks down Paradise was sweet.
  25. Skier turned out to be Ok, just a little cut on his face.
