A lot of Camelback trash talking on the Blue lifts today from Camelback regulars.
-
Learning hill was packed today. Even had the Wednesday adaptive skier group on it.
-
Grooming and snow conditions were top notch. Did huge turns on Sidewinder. Up to 13,000 turns this season. Unfortunately saw a skier get clobbered by a boarder coming off midway. Wasn’t moving, ski patrol got there quickly. Be safe out there.

The new lifts replacing the twin lifts Boulder and Frost are pretty nice.
-
It was on far skier’s right a ways above Razors Edge. The ski patrol put an orange fence around it.

Good time had by all.

There can only be one. Dug my slalom skis out of the attic, sharpened and waxed them, and spent the morning on Razors in the race clinic. Nice setup by blue, a course of brushes and stubs to start off, then a couple dozen slalom gates. Been quite a while since Nastar was a thing on the east coast. But even without the course set up, razors would have been closed because there is a broken down groomer on the slope. They almost canceled the slalom clinic because of it. Supposedly nine days to get the drive motor repaired, hopefully they’ll tow it off somewhere before that.

Razors was surprisingly quiet and even the top headway was grippy. Brought out my ancient slaloms after seeing the conditions yesterday morning, and skied until my legs got wobbly.

Looked like the whole mountain was freshly groomed. Compounding the crowds were BMRs a little too enthusiastic on lower paradise and home stretch. Glad to see features are off trails end. It was crazy there a couple of weeks ago. -
Was at Mt Snow end of last week both sets of grandkids. Spent most of the time on the magic carpet and the bunny slope. Surprisingly little amount of the trails open, but the worst part was very few lifts were running at opening, with long lift lines on the one or two open. Only one lift other than the bunny slope lift until late morning most days. It was windy, but the winds hadn’t died down when they finally opened a second lift to the top.

They have some whales on it, maybe opening this weekend. Nothing on one of the feeder trails to it (solitude). Losing the fan guns really hurt their snowmaking capabilities.

Sounds interesting.

Nice day at Frost with the California grandkids. After they retired for hot chocolate and Mac and cheese, took a run on Thunderbolt and Rivershot. Snow conditions perfect even late afternoon. Crowds very light.

The street my wife lived on while in school has burned.

I have always understood that the two buckles on your instep where the BOA is don’t provide any support, but rather just keep water out. Maybe if your boots are too wide it might help. I usually ski with those buckles fairly loose because any pressure hurts the top of my instep.

No indoor water park, but they have rides, shows and a character lunch. Grandkids are 2 and 4.

Concussion can mess with your short term memory. 🤒 -
Left just after 10. Good time had by all, happy holidays.

12/20…last day of fall felt very wintery

I noticed that grooming was particularly good mid week, where it was done. Would be nice though, if they could groom the entire mountain rather than just grooming half of it, I guess a lot of the nighttime grooming is going into opening new slopes right now. -
I like to set it on ski IQ and tips, so it gives you a good beep or bad beep after each turn. And then when you stop for 10 seconds or so, it gives you your ski IQ for that run. No bumps at blue yet. Still probably most useful on groomers, and also on easier groomers I get the highest scores. But it’s hard to get into the Zen headspace when it’s on.

Forgot my gloves in the car, had to walk back for them. Stopped a little bit after 11, paradise is holding up real well. Widowmaker is a little slick, but midway and chute were nice. Groomers working in the bottom of razors. Last night, the groomers seemed to have just groomed a single path up the slopes and left half of them ungroomed. A little bouncy first thing, but it evened out after a while.

You are never alone when you are with yourself.

Been using the Carv since the middle of last season and love it. The new sensors are much better and the user interface is much more intuitive. I use active coach about half the time and just the Ski IQ callout after each section with chairlift review the other half so I can listen to my tunes. Really helped my skiing. Only skiing groomers at Blue, so would be interesting to know how the new off piste coaching is.

Last time I was at CB was when my kids were in the high school ski club.

A little delay this morning in getting the new six pack going so I headed over to the old six pack and did a first run down lazy. Everything on the west side of the mountain was pretty well groomed. Pretty quiet on the slopes until about 10:30, when things started getting a little fluffy except for chute, midway and lower main. Didn’t get over to Paradise until later, and it was a little fluffed up also. Ski patroller said they were hoping to get the quad running before the holidays. Bunch of whales on TCS Challenge and Curzi’s cabin looks like they could be groomed out and open by this weekend.
