  1. I tend to recognize people more by their ski technique and gear rather than their face.
  2. Actually I prefer the term “geezer”, I’ve earned it. More descriptive of how everything hurts after a morning on the slopes.
  3. Saw a boomer being loaded into the ambulance near the patrol shack when I quit today about 11. Bunch of concerned boomers looking on. Don’t know if it was one of the geezer regulars or a club.
  4. BMR parents pay a lot more than it costs to take a lesson. But hopefully the liftline issues have been resolved. Now they need to work on the packed slopes and not hold back the guns next week. Had to wait on top several times today until the crowd on the run thinned out a little.
  5. We built this city. We built this city on rock and roll. 😀 (just watched a video on the development of Unix. Talk about Stone Age).
  6. Freefall the run of the morning and became better as things softened up, although Lazy Mike was a close second. A lot of small bluecoat lesson groups on the hill.
  7. Not awful. Hero snow. Brown patch bottom of paradise back, razors is wiped out. Main Street and lazy mile look good. Extremely quiet, 9:15 I saw 15 people on the slopes.
  8. Ocoee bus a nice river. Atlanta Olympics for whitewater events was held there. They built a nice visitor center with a lot of Olympic memorabilia in it. Unfortunately, it burned down not too long ago.
  9. Phillipi, West Virginia (takeout for the whitewater section of the Tygart River gorge) is pronounced like it is in the New Testament epistle not like it is in the Greek city that has the accent on the last syllable. The more you know......
  10. Who is a Kunkle is more to the point.
  11. Up again to JF, started snowing just as I turned in about 9. Pretty steady snow until about 11:30 when it started sleeting. Challenge and Dematte’s in great shape, nicely buttered with freshies. They opened up thunderbolt for about an hour as the ski patrol was putting padding and sticks defining the edges, closed it about 11 for some reason. Exhibition still not anywhere near close to being ready. Maybe about 50 or 60 people in the house.
  12. Oops, misunderstood the issue. Separate SPH line all the way to the end of the general line would be grate.
  13. Left side of the summit six pack had one today. The rope line after the season pass gate extended about halfway to the chair.
  14. Was waiting in line with a woman today who said that since she had an Ikon Pass she figured why not come up today. Heard a staff person say that today was the most crowded non-holiday Monday ever. Despite that, lazy mile and upper Main Street were in pretty good shape, although marbles were developing in lower main street. Never did make it over to the other side because the line for the quad started backing up pretty early. Atomic Jeff and Johnny Law were laying down some railroad tracks on upper Main Street. Quit about 1030 when the lift lines just exploded.
  15. Two runs on an empty Paradise first thing, then the rest of the morning on Coming Soon until the Paradise run out got too crowded. Good times.
  16. Blowing on Paradise, upper Main, Lazy Mile, top of Razors (although most of that is going over the top of the slope). Stopped around 10. Conditions this morning slightly better than Sunday, with the exception of lower Paradise- one person a time going through the brown spot. Not as much sugar, Freefall a little crowded, Midway/Lower Main fairly empty. Burma had the best snow, but massively crowded.
  17. Up to JF for a short session so the 3 YO granddaughter could try out her Christmas presents of skis, boots, harness and helmet. Spent most of the time on the Powder Puff lift, but took a run down Dematte’s (a little skied off with piles of soft stuff) and Challenge (soft, but pretty consistent). Back to the lodge about 1 pm and it was about 1/4 full.
  18. Think so. Looked like a little tablet.
  19. Actually, was on my Deacons (advertised as front side rippers) and having a great time. My son is out from Sacramento, normally skis Kores, but he just brought his boots. Tried my Experience 88s but the springs in the bindings were too worn out to keep them from popping off. Had his old pair of race room Fischer slalom world cups he switched to. First time on them in 10 years, and the took him for quite the ride.
  20. Ski patroller at the bottom of where Main Street lift used to be was trying to control speed coming off lower main and snowboarders plopping down in the middle of the trail. Had an electronic device to ding your pass. He said 2 dings and the pass is invalid for the day. Said it was the worst job ever.
  21. Another day, another few runs down One Park. About 30 when I arrived and when I left around noon. Strong wind blowing up the hill. A couple of cars off the road on 115 up on the plateau. They got about 1/2 inch of lake effect snow last night after the rain. Slope still in pretty good shape. Very quiet. DeMattes and Challenge look almost ready to go. Maybe this weekend or after Christmas.
  22. Dec 12, pretty much the same as last week, skied one park from about 10 to 1130. One of the changes I noticed in the lodge was they move the store from across from the pass desk to what was the open lunch area next to the cafeteria so there is significantly less tables space in the lodge. Still blowing snow on Dematte’s, and presumably on Challenge They picked up some snow over the weekend.
  23. I’m at about 1000 ft and we got half an inch. Melting now.
  24. Some nice chase drone work on today’s Woman’s Downhill.
  25. Oh no, I missed that the waffle cabin opened today.
