That must be an old prediction, they have a ton of snow down and with a week of 24hr snowmaking ahead of them this week, they could easily open during this week and should have a decent spread of trails for a weekend opening if they wait for that. I'm hoping for a Thursday / Friday opening because if they open on Saturday I can't be there, will have to wait for Sunday

Since you at least offered some information, the "pizza" is a default based on how many posts you've made but you can edit this to whatever you want in your "controls".

selling a skate 'nana already? have you tried it? what did you think of the reverse camber and MT.
-
Missed that one, no answers there though.

With the local (accuweather) weather forecast showing snowmaking temps everynight for the next 15 days, does anyone at CB have any view on a likely opening? Will you be pushing to open something this weekend or is that too ambitious? If not then surely during the following week, rather than waiting for a saturday opening. I'm looking to be there on opening day, no matter what day of the week, if it's a weekday that's even better 'cos the crowds will be less. How did the ton of snow that was blown at the weekend hold up to the rain?

Just my opinion, not trying to offend. If I was looking to adorn my $50k+ truck it wouldn't be with that design. Their "skull" logo that comes up while the site is loading would look pretty good on the black truck.

Pretty sure I saw you leaving Billy's on Saturday morning, the BB park sticker on the truck is a pretty good giveaway (not the most stylish logo though). My kids have no idea what a PASR is, but I was looking out for anyone I might recognise at BB on Sunday, but we were on our way out by 11 or so so probably missed most of the you.

are they opening it as a park tomorrow or as an open run?
-
I'm going to take the kids up tomorrow, should be there by 9, my daughter will be on a bright pink based K2 and my son will be the 7 year old straightlining whatver is open.
-
have they?

Really, which lifts? From any of the "summit" (I use the word metaphorically) lifts it looks long way down to the highest Northridge homes. Does anyome have any real data (google earth even, of relative heights of CB and Boulder "summits"? Either way, from Accuweather and Weather.com, forecast temps for Boulder area are always a few degrees lower than CB.

Thanks Sib, some interesting ones on there, will definitely be looking more closely at those.

Steamboat is high on the list, but from their website it didn't look too good on the lodging front, but mainly just not enough information/detail. I've sent for more info, so this could be the right place. Other option looking good at the moment is Whistler, some really nice properties there (but mucho $$$ and maybe limited availability for this season)

Had considered this but having come here from there, it seems strange to go back there when there are so many places to see over here.

Mt Pocono is no higher than the top of CB but is usually colder than Tannersville which is where CB takes it's official weather reports. I went up to the "mountain" today, no way it's just atest. They blew pretty good cover down most of marc anthony too. Let's hope the weather continues to co-operate.

I need some opinions from the well travelled peep's on here. I'm getting something of a windfall from work as we are being acquired, so I want to take the family away for a kick-ass ski vacation. Now neither of my kids are expert enough (or big enough) to consider a powder only deal (like Monashee etc), so really we're looking for awesome slopeside housing at a major resort. We would prefer a house (as opposed to a hotel), but it seems that these are not too common. We definitely want to be either slopeside or very, very close. Best I can find so far is Majestic Properties at Big Cottonwood Canyon, Utah. Also, given that neither of the kids or my non-skiing wife have been to altitude before I would prefer not to risk a 10k base altitude. OK, go with the suggestions... Thanks

Look at the webcam, it seems they got a fairly decent amount of snow down on Marjies "Nice Work" to the CB snowmakers, keep it up.The accuweather forecast for Tannersville looks good for the next 2+ weeks, only a couple of nights without snowmaking. GSS, this is getting really stale, how's the snowmaking going at Blue?

I've had some level gloves for 3-4 years now and they are very good: warm, durable and fit well, just don't turn them inside out to dry them because the waterproof membrane between the layers detaches from the fingertips and becomes a pain the butt to keep in place. I have a pair of grenade's that I use for warm days, they are OK for spring / warm PA days, but not the best or real winter. Last year I bought some Burton gloves with inner gloves that I never use because the main glove is plenty warm for even the worst days (like -22F in VT last year), these gloves are really good and I don't normally get enthused by Burton gear.

Given that quote "the mess at the bottom will be cleared up in a few weeks", who thinks they will be open before Christmas? Before Camelback?
-
LMAO Yeah, forgot the whole sarcasm thing, should have been more obvious. Didn't hear that bit, very sad (no sarcasm).

So how was sno cove this summer?

Killington or Mount Snow For The Weekend? Thoughts?
Timeless replied to Ski4Food's topic in General Chat
Doesn't matter if you have 19 trails open it will still be a clusterf#$k in the "mixing bowl", always is on opening weekend and despite the fact that they clearly state only intermediate and advanced terrain, the fact that at least bits of great northern is open means that it will be full of out of control muppets. -
Glades/Off-Piste/BackCountry/freeskiing RACE?
Timeless replied to mobile chernobyl's topic in General Chat
Yeah, I know. Still a good idea though. While we are in that imaginary place, how about putting dozens of fir trees (christmas trees?) in pots all over a trail and blowing snow over the bases to create a man made (and relatively safe) "gladed" area. I realize you couldn't groom it properly without leaving huge gaps (less fun) but you could just keep blowing fresh snow over it to even it out. A question on snowmaking: Can you adjust the guns under good conditions to create more powder-like snow? And if so could you set up guns to blow regularly on a run like Rocket to give "first tracks" powder conditions now and again. -
Can you clarify one point, does the "blow the mice out" test firing count?

Glades/Off-Piste/BackCountry/freeskiing RACE?

Can we take this as being in the plans for CB this year then? Wouldn't take too much work if you started with Nile Mile.
