So Atomic has done at least 99 runs so far this year, I assume all at Blue, which means basically all one run? Isn't that getting old really fast?
-
Take up speed skating or luge (sp?)
-
Are you insane? I know you spandex warriors like the east coast "hardpack" but for the few days of real snow we get just live a little and enjoy it. I hope it snow bucket loads, enough to keep me off work and everyone else away from the hill (except a couple of lifties of course).

He did a good enough job on my board base that I gave up waxing it myself....

It's a shame 'cos it's probably the best peak for progressing intermediates like me, with some nice blues (like skyelark and cruise control) and some not to intimidating blacks (like bittersweet). When I went in march, the whole of skye peak had great cover, my favourite part of Killy (so far)

Anyone know anything about the "friends and family day" mentioned over on RideCB? Is the new owner going to have private day on his new hill? Is it for the staff? How do I get an invite?

Schif' If you enjoyed this weekend, go back when there is some snow and the wind isn't blowing you, and any nice snow, into the trees... For the number of trails open (27 saturday, 31 sunday) there were way too many people, and you have the same problem as I found last year at this time, where all the traffic on snowdon and K-peak are funneling through the same point (at the bottom of Bunny Buster). The amount of grass / rocks showing on the lower "Chute" was really not funny, in most places I've been they would have closed the trail. There were people wiping out all over the place. It was quieter over on skye peak, but things were pretty sketchy over there, I picked up a big gouge in the bottom of my board from a rock and one of my (skiing) friends took a bad fall on the ice at the top of skyelark. I had a great time on saturday, did loads of runs and burnt my legs out completely, got sick saturday night (not alcohol related) and did much less on sunday. Air conditions were nicer, but the snow cover / grooming sucked. For me, only skye peak had much appeal. The Rail Jam was pretty cool, some very talented riders, though I never got to see the end. All in, a good early season weekend, just in time for the PA season to get going.

How was it?

Faraday Cage?

Is that the normal finish for the CB half-pipe grooming?

The loss of a resort like Elk is not really good news for anyone, unless your only interest is financial. I never got to ride at Elk, having only been here a short time, I would have been there this year, and still will be if they manage to scape together enough money to run the lifts...

But isn't his winter car a bigger, heavier, only slightly less powerful, RWD car with wide tires?
-
Can't think of a less suitable car to charge around the little country lanes in winter. Stiff suspension, loads of torque, 2 (rear) wheel drive, wide tires. The STi would eat it alive. Nice car though, must look lovely down at the country club.....

You need smaller feet...

Have you ever seen that show "most extreme elimination challenge" ("MXC") on cable, sometimes Honeymoon lane feels like an episode of that. Without wanting to stereotype anyone by race (and I have a lot of chinese friends, and do a lot of work in Shanghai), they tend to come in large groups and think they will learn how to snowboard by tasting as much snow as possible (and the occasional tree/fence).

Hi Would you be one of the new PR people from CB? If so, welcome aboard, maybe you could represent CB here. Despite some of the (sometimes) less friendly locals, and the occaisional b*tching about CB, this board is a really good reflection of local skiers and boarders.
-
Yeah, that's not him. He's about 20 years too young, needs grey hair and a bad attitude.
-
Saw one of the CB "racers" take out a young girl on raceway last year because she started to turn just as he was "having fun" cutting in front of her a high speed ( and no she wasn't on the race course ). I don't understand the "fun" in carving up someone who's not as fast as you, that you don't know and who may not have the ability to recover from trying to avoid you. By all means play games with the people you ski / ride with but even noobs deserve a degree of understanding. That was you once....

Yes it's a height requirement (46" in boots), and no I didn't get a free pass. It took me weeks of e-mails to get them to agree to give him a pass in the first place, their standard practice is to make you go to guest services each time you visit and ask for a free lift ticket. I don't mind doing this except we normally park at the bottom end So the upshot is he'll be going back to Blue Mt for his lessons (their explorer program is excellent if you can go in the week), and we'll have to put up with the inconvenience of guest services at weekends.

Looks to me (from the CB site) that they have plenty of snow to open, if the temps drop tomorrow as predicted. this idea of top-to-bottom, edge-to-edge cover is just marketing BS. They don't want to have the extra staff and running costs for an early season start, I can understand that as they wouldn't get many people coming for a few trails. The first couple of weeks last year, when they only had Tut/Meadows open was very quiet , once christmas arrived, more trails and the NY/chinese invasion began (no offence meant to any chinese on the board, but you know what I mean) I'm going back to Killington this weekend, I just hope CB is open the week after.
-
He made my 5 year old cry because despite being at least an inch below the line in the office he didn't believe he would be under it in his ski boots for the entire season, and hence wouldn't give him a free season pass, even though they said they would when I called and bought them for my daugher and I. In my season pass picture, I look like I'm going to kill someone, I was so pissed about it.
-
Dont take it to heart, it's a single guy thing. Must be hard meeting girls with that job...
-
Why would you buy blue's lift system by simple maths it's going to take 1 1/2 hours get back up the hill... take CB's quads instead.

I met "josh" when I took my kids up for season passes, he is just a front desk jockey in the "guest services" area. One miserable and not child friendly old hippie, if he's the owner I'm finding another home mountain next year.
