  1. Just think how ironic it would be, a large "slow skiing" sign or safety warning for all the noobs to crash into. Maybe it's advertising for the new camelbeach rides. Maybe it's part of a new camelbeach ride..... scrap the terrain park, add more water-features.
  2. Check out the daily pics on the CB website. Is that a huge wall ride, or just a screen to hide all you ugly park rats.... How come none of you "CB insiders" knows anything...
  3. Damn, I didn't think they would lose it all, even at the peak. It doesn't look good for anywhere to be open before thanksgiving. I need another fix soon....
  4. A what?????
  5. That's so true, my 4+ hour drive to VT was well worth it, and I timed the trip to the Belleayre exit (it's not the shortest route for me but it was easy) at around 2 hours. If it's open, I'm going. VT 5 hours? where do you live, kentucky? (maybe that would explain the spelling )
  6. Fingers, toes, legs, testicles, all crossed....hope they open soon
  7. I hope it's open by the 19th, I will be there if it is. But the weather does not look good at the moment, way too warm for the next two weeks.
  8. When he started, he had none of those thing, he was sleeping in his car at a resort. BUT, at the time there were not hundreds of existing movies about exactly the same things. I would have to agree that this is going to be very, very difficult, and the chances of making it to (successful)completion would be almost nil. If you are going to do it, you should be looking to showcase some of the obvious talent of some of the local riders, and be prepared to do more than just CB, making CB look good for more than a few shots is going to take some artistic talent.
  9. I'm pretty sure no-ones going to be going next weekend, the forecast is for above freezing at night, and nearly 60 during the day for the coming week, and rain on saturday. If you do go (the following weekend?) there are tons of places to stay on the access road (econolodge, comfort inn, you name it, it's there). Before thanksgiving you should have no trouble getting something at short notice, after that it's better to book ahead. If you have a car available while you are up there (ie not bumming a lift off of someone), there are also plently of places in Rutland which is a 5-10 minute drive to the base area. There were lots of places on the access road offering double rooms for $65 this weekend...

    Junior gear

On the same subject, but more local, The Loft is still clearing out last years stuff at 50% off. Got my daughter's new Burton Moto Jr's for $30 and a new helmet for the same.
  11. Thank you, I think...
  12. very do-able, and very worth it. I'd do it again tomorrow given the chance. 8 Hours in the car with Sirius is a small price to pay for 7 hours on a couple of feet of fresh (if heavy) snow.
  13. Have added some photo's to the gallery
  14. Yeah, left at 5am, on the gondola before 9.30
  15. hey, snow is snow....when I stopped at 3 in the afternoon 'cos my legs were shot, I just couldn't wipe the permanent grin of my face, It's been tooooo long. no seriously the conditions were pretty good, like nice spring conditions. Very good when I got there (9am), quite slow and bumped up by lunchtime. Not sure how good it will be today because it's so warm up there. But there were very few people there, so no queues for the gondola. Last year after thanksgiving I struggled to get 10 runs in all day, yesterday I did 12 gondola runs, plus several on the two triples they had running, I didn't count these very carefully. I'll post pics later, I bought a disposable camera up there and it's in CVS now. Even this morning I still feel
  16. I went, it rocked...
  17. OK, times up I'm sleeping now I'll let you all know how it was....
  18. My wife has just told me I should go early tomorrow, anyone want a lift?

    Ski pants

The real problem with NF gear is the rip-off's from china, they are pretty hard to spot and are incredibly cheap over there (<$20 for an adult jacket if you are good at haggling). There seem to be loads of them on e-bay for $150, must be kicking the crap out of their sales and reputation. If I thought I could pursuade him that was true.......

    Ski pants

I'm trying to help out a friend here at work He's a skier, no "spring chicken" but very fast, has been skiing forever and his ski-gear (ski's aside) dates back to many years ago. He recently caved in and bought a new jacket, and has now got a taste for it and want new pants too. Being old-school, he stil won't move away from bib-style pants, and has his heart set on north face or marker stuff. So do any of the skiers out there have: 1) other suggestions of manufacturers he should look at first 2) on-line or local suppliers where he should get a good deal All input gratefully recieved,. Thanks
  21. You lot are a fine endorsement of the PA educational system....
  22. PLEASE stop with the depreciation/sarcasm depending on how you meant it... camelback, cool? get real. I am going to try Hunter this year, mid week, mid season. I'll let you know what I thought, no bias, only a few pre-conceptions (how could I not after this thread...) Thanks, not only a relative noob, but a boarder to boot so moguls are not my best friend. I learnt alot about dealing with them on a board at killington last year but they still kick the crap out of my legs very quickly so probably wont be on my list of first weekend things to do.
  23. OK, so back on the original subject: Assuming they are all open (which looks likely at the moment), I would like to try one of the following: Bellayre Windham Hunter I've not been to any of these places before so would appreciate some input from those that have. Please bear in mind I am only a relative newb so no serious double blacks please..(for reference, Cliffhanger at CB is OK if it's not too icy). As I have the weekend, I could do two of these....
  24. Camelback's service / repair shop has always done a great job on my board. I tried it myself the first time, it was fun 'cos it was new, but the novelty soon wore off any my wife was mighty upset by the wax in the carpet... After taking it to the shop once, I wouldn't bother doing it myself again. It's sad to hear bad things about Blue's shop, I really like the general atmosphere and the runs and Blue.
  25. It's been raining most of the night here (south side of CB), local news says "best chance of turning to snow later today or tonight" I hate the rain
