  1. Unbelievable Weather statement on weather.com is a little more conservative @ 3-5 inches.
  2. I'm sure no-one here expects any of the local mountains to open until at least thanksgiving (even being very optimistic), but snow is snow. Bring it....
  3. I have a travel budget too, but probably not enough to fly anywhere. I was thinking of VT or NY
  4. I've been given a "weekend pass" for Nov 20th, so where do you think will be open by then?

    Pass at CB

Got mine last nite, also last minute. was almost convinced not to do it this year as they seem to be giving away the best bits to the "premium" passholders, (first tracks, the nice lodge, my carpark...), but in the end economics and proximity got the better of me.

    Tahoe?

Dont fall for it, it's a scam to make sure you behave with his daughter, When he finds out you're he's never going to take you....
  8. Oh no, here we go again.... skibum ski999 ski999 skibum
  9. As long as he can make the 360 he won't have to.....
  10. Blue mountain's explorers program was excellent for my son last year (he was 4 and new to skis). They had him up to confidently skiing blues and having done one of the shorter blacks ("raceway" I think) by the end of the season. My wife took him up there for afternoon lessons during the week and it was like private lessons, usually only 2 of them there with lots of instructors. We only put him into CB once, and he enjoyed it but the experience for us was less good, no end of day report ("sorry we ran out"), no real input on next steps etc, it just seemed like daycare for Mom & Pop Skiers. My daughter had 2 childrens group lessons on her board at CB and hated it, we gave her one private lesson with "Bob" and she got on very well. I took a couple of lessons when I started at CB, one very good, one terrible. Quality of instructors seemed very hit-and-miss
  11. maybe they were working on the "can we have $200 more for the facilities we should be offering to passholders anyway" letters.... b@stards.
  12. For all you budding photo-geeks out there A Moral Dilemma This test only has one question, but it's a very important one. By giving an honest answer, you will discover where you stand morally. No one else will know, so you won't be fooling anyone but yourself if you give anything but a truthful answer. The test features an unlikely, completely fictional situation in which you will have to make a decision. Remember, your answer needs to be honest, yet spontaneous. Please read slowly and thoughtfully, giving due consideration to each line. Here's the situation: You are in Louisiana; New Orleans to be specific. There is chaos all around you caused by a hurricane with severe flooding. This is a flood of Biblical proportions. You are a photojournalist working for a major newspaper, and you're caught in the middle of this epic disaster. The situation is nearly hopeless. You're trying to shoot career-making photos. There are houses and people swirling around you, some disappearing under the water. Nature is unleashing all of its destructive fury. Suddenly you see a man floundering in the water. He is fighting for his life, trying not to be taken down with the debris. You move closer...somehow the man looks familiar. You suddenly realise who it is. It's George W. Bush, President of the United States!! At the same time you notice that the raging waters are about to take him under...forever. You have two options - you can save the life of G.W. Bush, or you can shoot a dramatic Pulitzer Prize winning photo, documenting the death of one of the world's most powerful men. So here's the question, and please give an honest answer: Would you select high-contrast colour film, or would you go with the classic simplicity of black and white?
  13. Did I miss it clicked on the link, forcast is for rain and wind.

if you only fill it with vodka based drinks from now on, or american beer (which tastes like crap anyway), you will be fine. buy a new one, and look after it this time....
  15. Congratulations, and good luck with keeping Shawnee up to speed. I'm sure the park rats on this board will give you some good input and honest feedback on your park....
  16. you've got to get that job. Just imagine the whole shawnee park at your disposal. Given what you've done in your yard this should be your dream job. You may even be able to turn shawnee into somewhere known for it's park. I'm sure you'll get lots of support from PASR people if you make a good job of it.
  17. You have the best back yard in the world.... I'd like to do something similar for my kids but while I have space, I have no run in Nice vid too, was that Mountain Creek at the end? Any concrete news on the job yet?
  18. Hope it pays well...

    Ticket discount???

Elk has the most expensive season passes around here, even with the early-purchase discounts. The other "local" resorts seem to be scaled to perceived quality: JFBB/shawnee at the cheap end Blue / CB at the higher end. Elk is $100+ more than either blue or CB, is it that good?
  21. This morning on my commute to Jersey was the first day I've really noticed the trees turning, it's just been the odd one up 'til now. 8 weeks and we will all be jumping up and down in the vain hope of the local areas opening early. 12 weeks and we may have a realistic chance of the local areas opening.
  22. some nice shots from the summit.
  23. Congratulations on your new job, and good luck with bringing shawnee's park up to what it should be (and what they claim for it....) It's good to see someone with obvious enthusiasm for it, in a position to do something about it.
  24. You two could be the worst negotiators I've ever seen. how much are they worth (e-bay pricing)? There are some new (but 2 year old) versions on e-bay for $125 so I guess we're looking at $150 as a starting point. It's a shame they're so big, I would have been interested. DH, if you can get Burton gear for free, why don't you sell it off through the site?
  25. ski' thank you so much for that information, I've just started that dialogue with the sales staff.
