I was there from like 9 to 4. Conditions were great.

Buckman's had the Burton Ruler listed in size 13 on sale.

I have the Level Fly gloves. For the most part I am happy with them. My liners seem to get damp. The only time my fingers felt cold was the first few minutes outside after taking a short break.

I was there Monday as well. My uncle lives a few miles away and I stayed up there this weekend. I was going to come back home Sunday night but with the weather forecast of a little snow I decided to be sick of work on Monday. Great day on the snow.
-
Saturday and today the conditions were awesome. Saturday sunny, no wind. But around noon it became super crowded. I got a full day ticket for $20 (some guy had vouchers to get rid of) and I was content leaving at 1:30. Today lift lines stayed pretty short and again great conditions.

They could fit that into one of those older Foster's beer commercials. How To Speak Australian..... "Bunny Hill" Then show that clip. Fosters.....Australian For Beer.

It has some good expert terrain. The terrain park is very small. Usually weekend crowds arent that bad but with this snowfall on the eve of President's Weekend it could be pretty jammed. I think lifts open at 830 so I would be an early bird and make the most of it before the gapers arrive.

My uncle lives up in Clifford a few miles from Elk and I am tempted to make a visit this weekend even though its Presidents Weekend. NWS forecast for Union Dale Tonight...Snow. Snow May be heavy at Times after midnight. Snow accumulation of 8 to 12 inches. Lows near 10. East winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of snow near 100 percent. Wind chill values as low as 7 below. Wednesday...Snow. Snow May be heavy at Times. Additional snow accumulation of 12 to 16 inches. Cold with highs 15 to 20. North winds 10 to 20 mph. Gusts up to 30 mph in the afternoon. Chance of snow near 100 percent. Wind chill values as low as 7 below. Wednesday Night...Snow in the evening...Then a chance of snow showers after midnight. Additional snow accumulation of 4 to 6 inches. Brisk and cold with lows zero to 5 above. Northwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. Chance of snow near 100 percent. Wind chill values as low as 18 below. 24 to 34 inches? I will believe it when I see it but hey a foot would be awesome. EDIT: I looked at weather.com and they had 4 to 6 for Wednesday daytime so maybe there is a mistake in there.

Great story. Wonder if the other patroller was Seth?

Always neat to see the snow genuflectors do their thing.

Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned. - Buddha Ease up there young Jedi. lol A few weeks worth of manmade snow does not equate to "epic" conditions. Its good more trails have snow and are opening. Go enjoy them.

Go SpeedRacer He forgot to work Chim Chim in there but still good.

Is Haiku allowed on here?

Well, several folks here on the board tried to give you some warning that this was not the best of approachs. Can you post a photo of the PVC rail?
-
Aren't you the kid who bought 1980 skis for $5 bucks to be your freestyle setup and then build a PVC rail to practice? Hows that working out for you?
-
Cool thanks Looks like from Tuesday through the foreseeable future they have a good chance for some prolonged snowmaking. I would think Slalom and Delaware are the highest priority to get open since they are needed for night and especially Slalom since its the race trail. It would be real sweet to get a storm system come through with that colder air in place.
-
Anybody been up there since Friday? With the cold coming early next week do they have any shot at getting some terrain open on the other side (Tunkhannock side) of the mountain?
-
Looks like they should get plenty of that the next two weeks. I think I am gonna make a trip up next weekend. I need it. lol
-
Go to accuweather look up Union Dale or Mt. Pocono or your fav mountain and select the 15 day forecast. I realize the long term forecast is a moving target and can change drastically but its the first time you see a serious shot of cold air come into play (highs in the low 20s).
-
FYI their website says they will be closed this coming Monday and Tuesday. I really hope the 15 day forecast I saw today plays out. I did not have any snow, but it showed a whole week of high temps in the upper 20s starting Jan 15.

Another foot of white stuff at Baker. I am gonna have to find a way out there soon. lol

Climate change 'could kill of Alpine skiing' - OECD
CaptDave replied to mtnbiker99x's topic in General Chat
I remember reading an article in the Philly Inquirer last year or so and it talked about the melting Arctic. The amount of fresh water in the North Atlantic has been increasing. The jist of the article was if this rate of melt continues, the pool of fresh water could interact with the gulf stream and force it offshore at a lower latitude, making the Northeast climate actually colder. -
GFS also "anticipated" (lol) a very white New Years.

I think the El Nino prediction came to light. My lawn is as green as the Christmas wreath on the front door! lol Some of the computer weather models get interesting as we approach the new year. We shall see .....
