couple pics from loveland today...First POW day in god knows how long my room-mate Mike on the south chutes: His girl friend Rachel, also on the south chutes: and finally, me on in the mood: as many of you know, the colorado rockies have been extremely dry over the last month or so. This weekend, Mike, Rachel, our friend Adam, and I decided to find a little humor in it. Adam came up with this hilarious TR---Read it if you are interested: http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/showthread.php?t=155308 me and adam also hiked and skied mount trelease on sunday, and there are some pics of that in there too.

groomed cord, in PA? Really??? damn, I never would have expected that! ahhh, the elusive Pennsylvania glaciers sorry, i am in a sarcastic mood today
-
freezing temps don't turn snow into ice, they only turn water into ice. snow stays snow unless it really warms up then refreezes.
-
Looks sick! I saw you hiked out to a forest service gate, i dont know if you went out of it or not, but careful out there, make sure you stay in bounds if you don't have gear and avy training. Coming from PA, I didn't know any better and probably would have made some huge mistakes if I didn't meet the right people to steer me in the right direction when it comes to backcountry safety.

I would rather have ripples, bumps, and ruts than a groomer, especially right after a storm, soft bumps and crud are still much better than a boring groomer. I understand that some people like groomers, but they don't need to groom the entire mountain. I actually enjoy groomers once in a while, but after about two runs, they get boring as hell.

lawlz every time I start to think that PA ski areas may be starting to "get it", i read posts like this and once again lose all faith in PA ski areas...

Wow, someone really needs to grow a backbone. Why let posts on the internet bother you so much?

Little Cliff Huck ≠ Risk It risk it is the cliff drop on the skier's right of floyds

I think he is talking about the cliffs to the skiers right of floyds. Of course they are steeper than 45 degrees, they are cliffs. there is also a cliff in between elevator and floyds. Its at least 20 feet but the landing is flat and into trees. I have seen it hit, though, during the 02/03 season (which was a HUGE snow year for the poconos). -

this post speaks the truth. Elevator is the steepest thing I have skied in the east. It is also a pretty technical slope due to the double fall line. btw, it holds snow just fine without the bushes sidenote: I hope they have the sense never to try and groom and maintain it like a normal run in the Poconos again They groomed one main chute down it about the width of a snowcat. Of course, this quickly turned to ice and people were constantly falling down it and hitting the trees at the bottom that year. The snow making piles on either edge of the main chute were fun though, and some of them even formed into mini-hucks . Jordan -

the elevator was probably the most challenging run in PA, if not most of the east. Its a good 45 degrees or so. I remember being crazy scared of it when I was little. In previous years, most of it has been skiable just from the snow that blew over from rivershot. Is this not the case anymore? I hope you guys don't want them to try actually making snow on it like a normal run and grooming it again, right? What a disaster that was. It turned into a sheer ice face and stayed like that for the remainder of the season. It simply is too steep to maintain like a normal run in PA. yeah, cutting vegetation on provate property isn't a crime or anything. -
Your first post could have been taken both ways, i apologize. Plus, its not hard to figure out what school I go to. Still, though, if you are sporting 2 pairs of skis, 110 uf for a hardpack ski is a little much. The EHP has neither reverse sidecut nor reverse camber, so your second post was wrong.
-
4frnt EHP has normal sidecut and flat camber. The ski is fun as hell though. This is the most versatile ski i have ever been on. It rocks on everything but groomers.
-
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA no reverse reverse is only good in very deep powder. normal sidecut is nice to have in crud and wind loaded goodness, GS turns are not reserved just for groomers.
-
IMHO, a hardpack, everyday ski out west should be about 100 mm underfoot, unless you plan on skiing groomers all day. If you get a big dump, ski something 110 or greater. You will have a much better time if you do.

a bed of epoxy with p-tex on top works best. epoxy alone won't accept wax.
-
You only really need to fill core shots in order to keep water out of the core. Everything else is fine left alone. Unless you are a racer, you will never notice the increased drag associated with a scrape in the p-tex. Jordan

meh, its decent, but theres so much better to be had around here.... Jordan

ehh, keystone sucks, unless you are a park rat. They have decent terrain up high, but the hikes to get there are extremely long, on the order of 1-3 hours depending on where you want to go.
-
it sucks that he fell, but safety bars are a false sense of security. More kids fall off the chair trying to put them down or bring them up than they would if there was no bar at all. Thats why many ski areas out here simply don't have safety bars.
-
oh boo hoo, if you said they should put money into in in order to expand east mountain, i would agree with you, who the hell cares about the lodge, lifts, and lights.
-
the only reason to actually go through split rock is if you are coming from the west on 940, (which is dumb anyway, just hop on 80 by the turnpike).. or if you are coming from Jack Frost. In those cases, it is a shorter distance through split rock, but it takes about the same time either way because the speed limit is 25 through split rock.

$1.00? it used to be 25 cents... also, you can avoid it by going 115 to 903... Jordan
