vail only feels crowded if you ski the gondi all day, just stay away from the gondola and you will ski right onto the lift on weekdays and have no more than 5 minute waits on weekends
-
theres a really good pizza place in ludlow called wicked good pizza, go there
-
what kind of stupid question is that? one on one instruction is the best way to learn to do anything...

every ski area in the poconos and almost everywhere else in north america is primarily north facing

Vail has some of the best skiing in the front range. It also happens to be by far the largest ski area in the united states. Granted, if you stuck to the front side all day (mainly the gondola) the crowds may have left a bad taste in your mouth, but I've never heard of anyone disliking the bowls and blue sky. I have never encountered more than a 5 minute wait on the blue sky lifts (this includes weekends). 1. back bowls are far from flat, and blue sky has some of the steepest tree skiing in Colorado. 2. Vail wanted to put a detachable at the bottom of sundown but the locals fought it.

heh, that area between east mountain and challenge is where an old power line used to run up. It was certainly there last year, maybe they thinned it out more, and hopefully they removed those stubs from the old power poles, but it was definitely there last year. -
to be fair, CBs quad chairs are very light, not ones that are intentionally made heavy that are designed to run in high winds like on the imperial express at breck

heh, they tried that one year, it was the worst mistake the JFBB team ever made. For one, it turned into an ice sheet and they could not not groom it after the first time. Also, the elevator if by far the most difficult run in the poconos. It should be not be advertised, and should be hidden from your average gaper. Everyone who can ski worth a damn knows where it is anyway... to doug, my educated guess would be that the elevator is close to a 40 degree pitch in spots.

damn, those pics actually make me miss JF . Cant wait to ski there over break
-
heh, this was linked from the accuweather website, kinda cool
-
they never forced anyone to work, the just offered a double time incentive on both Christmas and new years day to people willing to work
-
once JF gets sued due to their free domain policy, the policy will change, so they are just being overly cautious, and rightfully so...
-
I remeber when JFBB was open all day on christmas, so opening at 6pm doesent impress me. There is no reason to close a ski area on christmas. It was one of JF's most profitable days of the year, with asians and jews making a habit out of skiing on christmas.

if you are there for the parks, stay at boulder. If you like to actually ski, check out frost, it is a much better mountain.

remember that year when exhibition never opened at all?
-
marjies was open on opening day 2 years ago, which also happened to be the best day of skiing ive ever had at CB, foot of fresh, and the grooming crew left marjies alone

heh, i called jack frost and asked if they had a policy on hiking for turns, and shes like what??, hiking??? no! no! I told her that the same company allowed it at mount snow before the season started, and she was like "no they didnt, you can only ski when the ski areas are open" Hmmm, i think it was just some clueless employee or just a paid answering service not affiliated with jack frost.

tomorrow may be an excellent day to poach jack frost!

why is your mouth always firmly attached to big boulder's penis?
-
there are no quads at big boulder. they will most likely run the edelweiss triple. jordan

Dont get me wrong, with the firepower they have at BB, they could get at least a death ribbon down the center of freedom open with one good night of snowmaking. HOWEVER you really have to ask...is it really in their best interest to do so? Will they have the staff available yet? Will they make enough money to justify making snow before temperatures are somewhat consistent. Night time temps may look good, but that doesent help you much when its 50 they next day and you lose half of what you blew the night before. Thats like throwing money in the garbage. The real question is: is there a market for pre-thanksgiving skiing in the poconos? I think not... its the same reason most mountains will close before april 1st. They make no money after then...

a nickel? put your money where your mouth is. I bet you $100 they dont open by the 17th
