  1. my guess: BB: December 8th JF: December 14th
  2. heh, I remember the past few years, people were sooo scared to ride BB post season because they thought PEAK would sue them or something for tresspassing... I hope this clears up the company's stance on hiking for turns when the areas are closed... Jordan
  3. ill be up at loveland on saturday Jordan
  4. who cares. Who wants to wait an hour in line to ride on some ice rink snow and a big hunk of metal that will fuck up your skis anyway?
  5. i saw this last night, its fuckin great this year
  6. i am pumped to go to the TGR premier in boulder tonight then to an afterparty with uber amounts of PBR then skiing at A-Basin tomorrow
  7. I am on TGR, i just dont think you can just steal the term and apply it to PASR though
  8. heh, maybe you should just go to keystone
  9. JH by far
  10. you are 100% wrong. The prices went up like $20 if you didnt buy it by labor day. unfortunately loveland doesent look to be opening this weekend. now i have to weigh if A-Basin is truly worth is to wait 2 hours in line for 500 feet of vert.
  11. yeah a foot of snow will certainly open most of the mountain
  12. 99.999% of those people are not paying $45. The vail resorts 5 mountain pass included A Basin. The majority of people who live in the front range who ski buy the pass because its only $400, which is a sick deal for 10 days at vail and bc, and unlimited at breck, key, and a-basin. anyway, thats why the basin is so crowded early season. about a bajillion people have the 5 mountain pass and only one run at one ski area is open. anyway, i just recently pulled the trigger on the loveland pass. Hopefully i will be going up there on friday provided they open. I think i would rather wait 10 minutes at loveland than 2 hours at A-Basin
  13. jersey shore is nice in the early and late season when you can have the place to yourself. it really sucks mid summer
  14. i dunno, i have been yelled at by a patroller from the lift once for skiing down there. It is marked with closed signs after all... Also, at boulder, there is no free domain, and you definately get in trouble for skiing under the lifts there. JF is another story though
  15. no this is in the woods between challenge and east mountain. If you go to challege from snow chute, there is a narrow trail that off the crossover thing that usually has one rope running across it (with no closed sign). The easiest way to enter though, is just start going down challenge, and go in the glades on the skiers right until you hit it. It pops out on the skiers left of the east mountain lift. Skiing down what you are talking about is a good way to get your ticket clipped. ski patrol generally dont like that.
  16. "old powerline trail" meaning that a powerline used to run up it. In sparse snow conditions, you are likely to hit some of the stumps from power poles that used to be there, because it seems they were just chainsawed when the line was removed. it was never an actual trail. that thing is far too narrow for a NEPA ski area to maintain as an official trail.
  17. the lake communities in the poconos are generally amazing. I am bias towards Lake Naomi cause i live there, but there are tons of awesome lake communities where renting a house would be 100000000X better than staying at caesers.
  18. hopefully they make the area out past those cliffs to the skiers right of floyd's folly more accessable. its sick back there if there is enough snow. Also, the need to clear the ice storm trees off the old powerline trail between challenge and east mountain.
  19. I like the fact that many of the tourists that come to the poconos only see the old, rundown, outdated, tacky honeymoon destination side of it. That way, next time those people will go to the catskills instead of the poconos, and the true gems are only available to people who are willing to put in a little effort, or locals.
  20. mt snow will be first, peak resorts is all about the early season
  21. http://www.skiloveland.com/snowmaking/snowmakingphotos.aspx started making snow last night
  22. in colorado, the resorts right on the divide (Loveland, A-Basin, and Keystone) are most likely your best bet for an early season trip. Of the three, my reccommendation would be loveland from what i saw with respect to early season coverage last year. Problem is, loveland doesent have a town, so the closest you can really stay is in keystone or dillon (~15 mins away)
