  1. looks like they are blowing on merry widow but not on Big Boulder. I wonder if there will be any terrain features on merry widow Jordan
  2. its pretty interesting that BB is opening with night skiing. Usually they dont open at night till after christmas. Jordan
  3. yeah, on the tram at JH, the absolute MAXIMUM amount of runs possible was 15 (2 runs an hour) (assuming a 3 minute load time) So, if you are riding the tram, the max possible vert was 62,000 in a day, which is very possible (you dont have to ski all that fast to beat the tram back down the mountain). But, this is also assuming no breaks for lunch on the bridger gondola (assuming 4 runs an hour, its possible to do even more) you can do 81,000 jordan
  4. wow, very unexpected on BB's part, opening on a tuesday. they really wanted the glory of opening first. Jordan
  5. One day that at Jackson Hole that i actually kept track or vert, i had over 60K in one day. (me and a friend of mine did it) we did 6 on the tram for 24,834 before lunch, after lunch, we did one more on the tram then tried the gondola and found that it is much more efficient in racking up vert... we did the one on the tram after lunch for 4,139 feet then did 12 runs on the gondola (2700 each=32,400) for a grand total of 61,373 vert
  6. JF usually has a couple jibs set up on the top of thunderbolt for the first couple of weeks until they can get toby open, and BB will have their jib park (edelweiss) up and running, i am sure. I doubt anyone will have any jumps opening weekend, unless BB goes balls to the wall with snowmaking this week. Jordan
  7. you're number one, congratulations Jordan
  8. i know the river run gondola is over 2K... it may not be 2500 exactly 2500 but whatever... and that is what we were riding all day for the most part. I don't sit there when I go skiing and add up every run and find the exact vertical for every lift i ride...I just throw up an educated guess. I didn't know there was a stats police here, if its that big of a deal, i'll just delete all my stats. Let me know Jordan Edit: Sorry, i just did a little research and found that the gondola rises 2340 feet, wow, i feel like such an ass for gyping you guys.. (how come all of my threads involve atomicskier calling me out on something eventually leading to a thread closure)
  9. I just got back from the 36 hours of keystone weekend, and no I didn't ski all 36 hours, but I did ski straight through the night from about 9pm last night till like noon today (15 hours straight) when i called it quits because I was so tired i was afraid I would hurt myself. For those of you who dont know, 36 hours of keystone is one weekend out of the year where keystone opens up for 36 hours straight (friday morning through saturday night). It was certainly an awesome event, which also included some of the coldest temps i have ever had to endure (it got to about -15F at the summit) But, It was awesome to be able to ski in the wee hours of the morning and then watch the sunrise As an added bonus, this morning, keystone opened the outback for the first time this year, and i even got to hit some pretty deep powder heres some pics from my little adventure
  10. latest model runs (both NAM and GFS) bring this storm much closer... Jordan
  11. no way they open during the week. Jordan
  12. all early season snow storms cower and will always cower in comparison to the 12/9 snowstorm last year (it was CB's opening day, and i was there) That may have been the only good thing about last winter. 1 foot of REAL POWDER. PA never gets real powder.. by the way, the GFS has PA plenty cold for snow, but has the storm tracking out to sea, with just flurries for PA as it is now, but the GFS generally has an eastern bias, so that could be good news for PA. Jordan
  13. BB really should have announced this sooner, now no one will have their skis with them Props to park logic and BB staff for making this work though
  14. Cold Turkey Jib Extravaganza @ BBFriday, November 24 at 4:00pm Come test ride 2 New Park Logic Rails Open at 4:00pm with 2 rails - FREE 6:30pm-"Lights Out"- Movie Premier "Anomaly" in the Tannebaum Room "Lights On" after the movie so you can jam some more.
  15. clearly someone should make a PASR poster so we can all find each other... whose on it? Jordan
  16. im a 10 min drive from BB, and its over 40 degrees here, and drizzling. no freezing rain here
  17. if they dont pile up the snow, i cant see them having much of anything left by friday... The only reason boulder had snow for the may rail jam is because they piled up a LOT of snow then groomed it out like the day before the jam.... Otherwise they wouldnt have had anything jordan
  18. well, whose going? i should be there.... heres the info in case anyone doesent know yet
  19. yeah ill be there
  20. i do think blue and JF will open the same day (the 9th)....shawnee may surprise us and open that day too CB will continue to pimp their snowmaking, but not open till like the 16th
  21. my guess is saturday december 9th for frost and the 16th for boulder
  22. the forecast doesent look good
  23. colorado has more than one ski company though. can you imagine what a colorado ski pass would cost if everything was owned by vail resorts. The only reason it is so cheap in CO is because there are so many different companies competing for your business. There needs to be competition to keep the prices in check. look at Jackson Hole, WY..... Only game in town so they charge like $1500 for a pass. Jordan
  24. OK my point that they can push enough snow together for a small rail jam still stands.... Jordan
