despite an utterly horendous season here in colorado, I think there is still a good 3 weeks to a month left in the ski season here..despite A-Basin's lousy decision to close early. I don't really ski lift served this time of year anyway. skied the leftmost line that goes off of Atlantic Peak, a centennial 13er (one of the hundred highest peaks in CO) on sunday: here is a closeup of the line: This one is almost melted out, but many other snowfields are still pretty FAT, surprisingly. Its amazing what the wind can do with just a little snow to create a fairly deep snowpack on certain (eastern) aspects

I own a snowmobile. I think I understand tracked vehicles a little better than those who don't own one. I have also seen a vehicle of this type hopelessly stuck. They work great on heavily packed or groomed roads, but not much else. Driving through anything that is not heavily packed is dependant on the vehicle's clearance.
-
typical snowpack for colorado: 1-3meters of normally consolidated snow I have seen vehicles of that type get hopelessly stuck even on roads that had previously been packed by snowmobiles.
-
the theory behind tracked vehicles is twofold the purpose of a track is: 1. to provide traction 2. to spread the load over a large area to provide floatation these vehicles have #1 but not #2. ie. they would do fine on hard snow or relatively shallow soft snow. Put them in deeper snow, and they will get stuck every time. Soft, deep soft snow is still reserved for snowmobiles and snowcats.

the bells are so amazing...It is my lifelong ski goal to ski the landry line off the summit of pyramid...one day

literally...a dust storm blew in last week, and now all the snow is dirty. Its also melting a lot quicker due to the darker surface. what an awful winter

will there be enough snow for mayday this year?

You're right, I never ski with anyone...I'm such a loner. OR, i just like to ski with people who like to ski what and where I like to ski. I drive past the tunnel quite a bit actually, but I would rather shoot myself than wait in 30 minute lift lines at breck and keystone to ski the hardest hardpack in the world (because the entire city of denver is skiing on it)

still gonna get loveland?

avy rose finally went all yellow this week for the first time this season

Hey GUYS, GUeSs WHaT I SKI BLACK DIAMONDS!!! -
I find the earlier stuff he did with TGR to be pretty damn amazing. He was the best big mountain skier in the world by far for a few years there. He skis loveland a lot early season. Really quiet, humble guy. Him, dav, and shane are my skiing heroes Ordinary skier is really awesome. Makes me want to go to chamonix so badly. One day....

I don't know who Hufnagle is, I just know a guy named everyone used to call "Huff" used to build the jumps at BB and sucked at it, and got in a fight with the parklogic people when they called him out on it. and you caught me, I suck at skiing. Why do I even try anyway? http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/showthread.php/194083-TR-SR-The-Colorado-Front-Range-in-May http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/showthread.php/222563-TR-ShReDRepOrT-Torreys-Peak-Tuning-Fork-(accessed-from-Loveland-Pass)-6-3-11?highlight= http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/showthread.php/223484-TR-Quandary-Peak-North-Couloir-6-28-11?highlight= http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/showthread.php/223265-TR-Double-Feature-Vader-Coulour-(south-arapaho)-6-22-11-and-Coon-Hill-6-23-11?highlight= http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/showthread.php/222777-TR-Torrey-s-Peak-(East-Face)-6-11-11?highlight=

why don't you fill us in and get my facts straight for me? why would a mod give me information that would incorrectly lead me to thinking you are Huff? I got that from what you and shadows posted.
