Can't help that this season is a shorter winter holiday with both falling on Sundays. My kids only got 5 days off this year compared with 7 last year.
-
What did you come out to per day?
-
Did better the season before at $13.70 per ticket. Did not get to fully use my 2016 cards due to shirt season.
-
$24.75 per day (10 were solo days 6 were with 2 kids)$14.14 per lift ticket If you looked at per ticket cost only on days I skied with kids it is about as affordable as taking them to a movie. (Of course there are other costs like gas and $100 for a seasonal rental for each kid)

Weekend 4 hour tickets are back..starting Saturday.
Ski2Live Live2Ski replied to KCSKI's topic in Montage Mountain
Yep I encountered that as well. But the tix were still a great deal at 30. Also bought one on site with my gift card. -
Expect I will be back here tomorrow. Look for me on White Lightning, Boomer, Cannonball and the Phoebe Snow lift :-)
-
It is about $60, exact price depending on where you purchase, and good for one day each at Blue, CB, Shawnee, JFBB and Big Bear. Blacked out through 1/1 and also on MLK and Presidents weekend. So even if you don't bother with Big Bear and Shawnee it is $20/day to ski Blue Frost and CB. At one point it was only available to ski club members but now it seems they are selling to anyone. I bought 3 this year. Ridiculous deal. Will find out which mountains will honor both that and 4th grade deal on same day.
-
Would not assume anywhere near all there on a weekend are paying full price. I will be getting 3 weekend lift tix for under $50 this year due to Pocono Ski and Ride Cards and my two kids will each spend a total of $30 for all their PA skiing this year due to the PA 4th grade ski passport program. You don't have to be a pass holder to get a deal and I probably pay less per ski day than all but the most dedicated pass holders.

The nicely padded bubble lift at Snow was a big hit on a cold day, and Long John and other green runs were not crowded and lots of fun for the crew. But some of the blue runs were quite icy and a bit much for them. Last run one of my girls had had enough for the day and coaching and assisting her down that last long blue run was quite a trying experience. Just glad that I was able to resolve everything safely and comfortably and boost her spirits afterwards and she remains enthusiastic for more skiing in the future. But that was the roughest experience I have had skiing with my kids so far. So Bromley was definitely the greater success story of the weekend. Their first time going out two days in a row as well, which always has one's legs a bit less fresh on day 2. Back to their comfort zone in PA for a little while, but nice to have put that in perspective for them with a glimpse of VT skiing. Definitely gonna do quite a bit more PA woodshedding before taking them on any Western trips.

Had a great day at Bromley today with some nice fresh snow on the ground - about 5 inches over 24 hours - and more falling in the morning. Fog early and wind late were the only downsides. Place was empty and it felt almost like a private mountain. Kids made it down everything including the two blacks that were open and loved the sense of exploring a large area. On to Snow tomorrow.
-
Yep that was a factor for me, plus the fact that they have essentially all of their greens and blues open and none of their blacks open, which means the kids can go just about anywhere without exceeding their level. Figuring that their blues will be no tougher than the blacks they have done at Shawnee and Montage.
-
Gonna do Bromley Saturday and then Mt Snow on Xmas.
-
Heading up there this weekend with my 2 kids and their 2 teen cousins, 1 of whom is a boarder. I expect we will be starting on green trails then hitting some blues given their experience levels. I know some VT mountains have significant traverses on green trails, which would not be easy on my snowboarding niece. Any thoughts on trails there for a snowboarder to avoid due to traverses?

Best way from Central NJ IMO is Parkway N to 17 N to NYS thruway. While some might thing to avoid 17 as it is not an Interstate, that stretch is 55 mph, has not a single light, and has convenient gas and food options. I made it there from Lawrenceville in 2:35 leaving at 630 am two Sundays ago. Glad to hear Hunter was so nice on Sat. It was fear of road conditions there (seemingly well founded) that got me to opt for Montage instead, which has the advantage of being within 3 miles of an Interstate as well as being closer and less far north. They had at least 3-4 fresh inches there as well.

I believe you can buy them online til the 24th. They would only sell for today there. Zero lines or crowds on 2 beautiful trails: Cannonball (black) was groomed and fast, Boomer (double black) was covered in small soft bumps. Powdery enough that snow often sprayed above my knees. One of my fav trails in PA. White lighting has major Whales that they are smartly leaving intact to preserve them through tomorrow's rain before spreading them out for holidays. Lapped them 16 times, about 2/3 on Boomer.
-
Heading up there now. Appears they got all snow and it should have stopped by the time I arrive. Taking the TP route, which is a bit longer, as I expect it will be better road conditions. Gonna buy 3 of those $30 weekend tix. One for today, 2 for later in the season. And two of them I will pay for with a 30% discount gift card making the real price $21.

Hidden Valley, NJ is now . . .

Seems like they do. Since they regraded trails what I knew of Hidden Valley over a decade ago isn't real relevant. Max age is 20. -

It seems anyone in the age range can register for their programs. They also have a winter break holiday camp before their race development sessions start in January. Not a place you can just go to ski though. They replaced all the lifts, snowmaking and kitchen and made some changes to the trails. -
The National Winter Activity Center, specializing in training youth 6 and up in skiing and ski racing, including participation by US ski team members. 2 days a week for 6 to 9 weeks starting at $450. Sure beats being a former ski area Winter4kids.org

To clarify, their email blast indicated they are making snow heavily on 6 trails, including three of the 4 north face expert trails: Cannonball (black), Boomer and White Lightning (both double black). They have not yet said which trails will be open this weekend, but that is very promising. -

It was a 30% off card, so brings it down to $21. Will use up my card balance on these, not sure what that is. -

Saw something earlier saying white lightning and one or two others of the north face would be open for the weekend. They have moved opening date up to wed 12-14 now. $20 off means a weekend ticket will only be $30 off my gift card, which means it cost me less than that as I got a 30% off deal on the card. So really a $21 all day weekend lift ticket. -

Cool. That this weekend? If so will likely head up there. They are opening with their best terrain available and I have a gift card from them to use up. And their lack of crowds on the segregated black Diamond lift makes them perfect for weekends. -
Opens Wed 12-14
