  1. Gee maybe it was because be "hoped" something horrible would happen to me and my family and spewed a lot of foul language and some anti semitic innuendo in response to comments about how people buy and sell cars. Not that I asked for anyone to ban him, but some civility would be appreciated. If that was the issue, I am personally fine with him continuing to post here as I am a free speech guy and can take it, but free speech works best if people can express their ideas without resorting to that crap. But who knows, maybe he lashed out at someone else too.
  2. For all wondering why I seem to be going on and on about car sales above, there were quite a few now deleted posts from TP4 that brought the topic up, and then responded to my posts in an increasingly antagonistic manner.
  3. Sunday River tested snow making today. Winter is on its way.
  4. I am not saying I would do anything like that as I have made clear I have never and have no expectation that I will ever buy a car from a used car dealer. But I do expect that most buyers will seek the lowest price and sellers the highest price. You can always beat someone else's price to make the sale, if you can, even if it means sacrificing some of your commission. Seems a kind of basic concept that someone in sales should get.
  5. If one customer offered you $100 more for a car than another, who would you sell it to? If you would sell it to the one offering less, just because they were there first, then you are not doing a good job for your employer.
  6. I think you should get a commission on the sales you make. I'm not telling you what to do just reacting to your complaints and pleas for pity here. But being more polite to your customers than you are being this morning might get you some more sales.
  7. On the whole I do think skiing is a lot more awesome than snowboarding, but I don't believe I ever said you shouldn't snowboard. Certainly if you snowboard while others are selling cars, you will sell fewer cars.
  8. Go ahead and eat and snowboard. Nobody owes you a sale though. Not sure why you are appealing for pity here or who you think you are going to impress by insulting me and threatening my family.
  9. Bonuses but not commission based. I am not condemning anyone here for placing their own self interest first in a sales negotiation. My preference for buying from individuals is that cutting a dealers profit out tends to make the transaction better for buyer and seller, though it is less convenient. I do find high pressure sales tactics annoying and the combination of better deals available elsewhere and not dealing with such tactics outweighs the convenience of looking at many cars at a dealer.
  10. Sorry, I miss where being a used car salesman working on comission that has you trying to maximize the dollars you get from a customer is an altruistic occupation. I am not behaving selfishly to you. I am describing the way the world works. In sales negotiations people on both sides are in it for themselves. You seem to be living in some fantasy land where you believe that anyone you bring a cup of coffee while trying to sell them a car should owe some debt of loyalty to you. And I haven't personally done this to anyone as I have never bought a used car from a dealer. I prefer not to deal with such people and would rather buy from owners.
  11. Someone wants to buy a car and has money to spend on the best deal they can get. Not really seeing why they should care who gets the commission unless you are offering to split your commission with them. Its not like car salesmen are motivated by anything other than their self interest. Want the sale, be there at all times the dealer is open. You snooze you lose. No friends on powder days.
  12. It is a lot less eco friendly when I drive or fly places with more natural snow than when I ski more locally on man made stuff.
  13. Yeah, certainly it costs money to do. But if you aren't ready to commit the money, don't put it on your trail map "coming soon" It does not take more than one off season to do.
  14. Not much in PA. Whitetail added a short green trail called ledgewood. Blue has been the most active in PA in expanding terrain.
  15. At least this weather isn't melting any base
  16. Dreamcatcher. Actually a glade as well (even better). Also Gore added the Hudson trail and several glades. And Whiteface added Lookout Mountain So quite a bit has happened just north of the pokes. And Sugarloaf had a huge expansion of largely glades. Not that I have been there.
  17. Belleayre Windham Hunter added some glades
  18. I don't see why a new fairly short trail is a multi year project to complete. It's not like building condos or a water park. You chop down the trees, remove the stumps, and run hoses for snow guns. Heck they could just thin out the underbrush and make it a glade. It would be cheaper and make for greater variety.
  19. Shall we boycott the places that still run diesel lifts?
  20. The nice thing about hills with only 1000' vertical is turns are basically optional.
  21. Thanks. Good to see you too. After last winter, I will take any trail that is painted white by late December.
  22. I guess the upside of warmer winters is it will be more comfortable sleeping in your car before waking to ski slush and ice. (Oops I see that discussion was from 6 years ago)
  23. Hoping for a trip to CO in late Jan. Maybe Killington on Dec. Other than that mostly pokes and skills. Gonna have to find some new deals now that kids are too tall to ski free at Shawnee. Fortunately this happens just as they are eligible for 4th and 5th grade skipass in PA. Let it snow! Let it snow! Don't hold it back anymore.
  24. Any update on if this trail will be open this winter or what it will be called? Would make a nice Xmas present. Especially if they are open by then.
  25. There is no way you can legally go onto someone else's private property and cut their trees down without their permission. You can't even legally go on someone else's private property without their permission.
