The closed signs weren't what kept me off it. Did BB in pm. Better snow there. Nice lift line run to right of boulder park.
-
I looked over the cliff. It looked skiable today. But I decided not to do it today, with a body sore from moving yesterday. Did tear up my skis a bit doing the challenge glades to E.Mt lift line run this am.

Take it easy, we will have Elk shooting for 100 days til late April.

Loved letting my girls have their first bump experiences on the soft stuff on Switchback and Dreamweaver. They made it through like champs.
-
Nice day. The soft bumps on switchback and Dreamweaver were a great level of challenge for the kids - probably the toughest stuff they have skied to date. Paradise was a real nice surface. Lazy Mile started getting a little bumpy by the time we left. Skiable trees off Tuts and Lazy. Lines were insane at valley lifts so mostly did the other side.

A few miles away

Heading up to Blue tomorrow AM arriving around 10. I'll be most recognizable by a tan helmet and white poles and skiing with 2 little girls with a purple helmet and a bright green one. Probably mostly skiing greens and blues with them. Say hi if you see me.

Nice! Any clear rte there from tpk?

How are roads from 309 or Tpk to BC today?

Spring staying closed today to keep employees safe. Should make for nice fresh conditions tomorrow. All powder in eastern MontCo. 8 inches on ground lots more falling. High winds with lots of blowing snow. -

Good day to put the kids on their pink plastic toboggan going down a hill within walking distance of the house. -
Where does one look for skiable trees at BC?
-
Seems like they are closer to the snow zone than Blue for this weekend. Wondering if they tend to leave any trails ungroomed when the fresh stuff falls or pack it all down quickly. Last time I was there it was still Doe but might check it out again Sunday if they will have lots of fluff.

There are no friends on powder days but there are kids. They can enjoy places a lot bigger than Spring these days, but if Spring gets 12 inches and Blue gets 3 it will be my choice for them to experience some fresh snow. -

Probably taking the kids to Spring. Bet they leave the "double black" ungroomed and it probably won't get much traffic. -

Seems like Sunday will be a great day to check out Whitetail, Roundtop or Liberty. -
I dislike the turnstiles. Had one day when I two separate times had to go to guest services for a malfunction with my card. And they were real slow dealing with it, wasting about 70 minutes of the time I had to ski.
-
Of course it isnt. Nor is 30 seconds possible for White Lightning or Boomer. But 30 is to 48 seconds (ok should have said 50) as 600 feet is to 1000, even disregarding that Montage is more challenging.
-
If they were to build a hsq I would want it where Phoebe Snow is. White Lightning and Boomer and glades off WL are IMO the best skiing in eastern PA, even with 600 foot vertical. If they are over in 30 seconds as you say (they take a good bit longer for me when moguled up as usual), then at least you get right back on the lift and do them again, as opposed to skiing 48 seconds at Blue and then queueing up like cattle for 10 to 20 minutes. To me the slow lift beats a line for a fast one anyway. I would rather sit with a view than stand in a crowd.
-
The reason for non novices to ski Montage is all handled by Phoebe Snow. Long Haul is a nice sky ride to some flat stuff though.

Glad I went to JF yesterday :-) -
Elevator would need a good bit more cover unless you have rock skis or rentals. But looks like it would be skiable once that happens.

If you ski Phoebe Snow lift I find they often let you go a good bit past 1

Use of knees and ankles and arches and stance. He was asking us to copy his form while doing turns on blue and green terrain and then making a couple comments after we each tried. I had heard most of it before though still don't do it all with correct form. But after an hour of it I was not getting that much out of it. Though it had gotten better once group had shrunk from 10 to 5 through attrition, it was not that much better and I decided to let it shrink to 4 (still including the buddy I came with) and go get a few more runs on Floyds and RS.
