  1. It was about 1:45 getting there from my folks' house and about 2 hours back to mine. But I would have spent 45 min driving home from my folks house anyway, so I added 3 hours of driving, 3 hours of skiing and an hour of dealing with equipment and tickets to our trip home.
  2. Perhaps but will be with kids so will more likely take advantage of Shawnee deal for under 46 inches if they have a comparable amount open.
  3. Had a great afternoon with kids from 1 to 4. Guns were off, pretty nice surface and coverage in adjacent woods on all 3 runs. Proud of my kids for venturing into trees and handling Challenge nicely. Glad we ventured out.
  4. See you out at JF this afternoon. Black jacket and pants, white poles, tan helmet, 2 young girls in green and purple helmets. Say hi.
  5. I will be out there in the afternoon. Wearing black with white poles and a tan helmet and skiing with 2 little girls. Say hi if you see me.
  6. So what all will be open at JF tomorrow? And will they be making snow on open terrain?
  7. Would have taken the kids for 1 trail with $25 tix. Now it's really 2 trails with $55 tix and I am less likely to bother.
  8. May well take the kids out to JF for their first day and my 4th this Sunday.
  9. Gore is not offering that deal
  10. Cool, Belleayre has a deal now where if you buy a ticket for the holiday period you get a free return trip after the holidays, to make up for the limited terrain they have now. You should investigate the details of that.
  11. By the way if you are looking for a ski instructor for young girls I have a great recommendation at Spring Mountain (if it ever opens). She really went the extra mile in every way, making them a group of 2 so they got semi private lessons for group lesson prices and extending lesson time, and was a great friend to my girls who totally loved her. Don't want to give her name out publicly as she might get in trouble for that, but contact me if interested.
  12. Belleayre has beginner stuff open. Both Running Bear which is a complete learning area and Iroquois which is a green with 400 feet of vertical.
  13. Love that I go in from NJ and avoid the NE Ext.
  14. Cool. I have been unable to use from my Android, which I guess the mobile version will rectify
  15. If a place in your neighborhood that you have already paid for a pass to had that you would ski it, eh?
  16. What about Hunter's mid station cam (the only one you can really get a good view of the trail from) doesn't look terrible? The lack of crowds is a plus I guess.
  17. Sometimes not showing pictures is the better marketing move, as long as you aren't counting on getting repeat customers
  18. Woukd be interested in seeing some pix I admit. Almost headed up there today but I could not believe it would be decent. If you look at Hunter's Web cams, it is hard to believe they are selling tix to ski that. And even harder to believe they are letting folks ski it on their rentals. Sort of like a WROD but with frayed edges and rocks poking through.
  19. At CB, folks walking across the snow to the Coaster are significant and oblivious obstacles to skiers trying to keep up theor momentum to make it to the lift without skating.
  20. As long as too many of them don't turn perpendicular to the fall line on an expert slope and slide down that way scraping off all the loose snow. I blame the weather for bringing out all the otherwise supressed hostility between fans of different forms of alpine snow based recreation.
  21. We still have Alta, right? You guys totally killed VV/GG.
  22. Funny the ski slopes that have annoyed me are the ones that have started letting air boarders, fat bikers, mountain coaster riders, and/or snowboarders in. What part of ski slope do they not understand.
  23. How much of the trail will have park features vs free skiing? And can you give any idea how shaky conditions are? Might well hit it.
