How much did you spend in the 14-15 ski season??
Ski2Live Live2Ski replied to GrilledSteezeSandwich's topic in General Chat
Corrections, and adding one more day skied for three, the total is actually $1165 for 21 days of skiing for myself, 10 days for 1 kid and 9 for the other, making it (without amortization) about $29 per person per ski day and still $2.50 per person per run. If you look at lift ticket only expense, I spent $13.70 per person per ski day and $1.22 per person per run. 50/50 chance I will hit somewhere in VT on May 10, in which case I will recalculate. Kids are done though - returned their seasonal rentals Sunday. -
Mayday May 9 they were saying. Wonder why they aren't doing it May 2. Either way, I'm done unless I take a trip to VT next weekend.

Where are you skiing for daytrips in April?

So I guess PA and NY are now closed and VT is now down to Okemo, Killington, Sugarbush and Jay, right? Gonna require getting crazier and crazier to ski. Glad I made it to BB Saturday to stretch my season to 21 ski days in 22 weekends in 6 months. -
What's the issue with bike helmets instead of ski helmets on a hot day? The point of helmets isn't to look cool.
-
Too hot for ski helmets and kid gotta wear something and dad's gotta set an example. 200k ain't 2 mil but it ain't bad for a day tripper working single dad 100 minutes from any skiing
-
Nice day. No line over 5 minutes. Bunny elbow had the dirtiest snow I've seen (no bare sports though), bunny schuss is actually closed with a large unpassable dirt stretch. The two open black diamonds were in fine shape as were the two parks which were skiable even for non park kids. There was some skiing through water near where the lift let you off but the slopes were fine. All the snow was of course real slow with the temp peaking at about 70. Sounds like they may even try to open next weekend, but I expect it will be limited to Love Park as there is a pretty thin bridge of snow connecting the eastern slopes to the merry widow lift and I don't see that lasting. Glad to get my day 21 in and make my 200k vertical - both personal records for a ski season, and give my kids a 10th day on skis this year. On the way home we took a detour for a beautiful hike at Dingman's falls. We were in short sleeves wind breakers and bike helmets for skiing, but plenty of folks were just in short sleeves and shorts and one guy was shirtless.

Heading there now. If you see someone skiing with girls in green and pink jackets say hi. One blue trail and one black trail works for us the 3rd weekend of April

These JFBB guys are so terrible about providing info. They would get a lot more folks coming if they gave a report the night before.

About $1100 for 20 days of skiing for myself and 11 days of skiing for one kid and 10 days of skiing for another kid including 4 lessons, new poles, ski pants, boot bag, seasonal rentals for 2, and ski club membership. That comes out to about 45% lift tix, 24% gear and 24% gas and 6% lessons. Figure that is about $25 per person per ski day and about $2.50 per person per run (considering the boot bag and pants could be amortized over multiple seasons - poles were a this year expense as I lost my poles in a ski parking lot and needed to replace them) Feel pretty good about that deal :-) -
Kind of an embarrassment to the Catskills if BB can stay open longer than Hunter et al.
-
Intended to go when I woke this morning but things came up. Off to bike ride instead. Hello spring. 20 days and 196.8k vertical not to shabby for a non pass holder with no overnight ski vacations. Don't entirely rule out a day at Gore or Whiteface if they stay open.
-
If someone's near enough to Lawrenceville NJ to want to give me $10 for my PASR card to ski BB for a day (instead of spending $25 there), and thereby help defray the cost of me going to Hunter, let me know :-)
-
On the fence. Is it worth going to ski BB even if it is free with PASR card? Is it worth the drive essentially? Not a real park guy, though I'll go over some small jumps or lips. Otherwise no real challenge or even excitement there, is there? Short runs. Slow lifts. Slushy slow snow. Kind of tempting to either pony up and go to Hunter for a real ski day, or do something else entirely. Like, say, bike. Feel like going to BB would largely be to get some runs in to hit my 200K vertical for the season, and that's a pretty dumb reason to spend 4 hours driving.
-
BB posted on FB they will have all terrain and merry widow lift open
-
Do folks think they will be open and if so how open will they be? How were conditions last weekend? Thinking of hitting it next weekend unless Camelback has another change of plans and actually opens. Or might take the trek to the 'skills instead where Hunter Belleayre and Plattekill are all indicating they plan to keep their lifts turning Gotta get my first year of 200K vertical one way or another :-)

Seems like camelback may have pulled the plug for next weekend. Not sure about big boulders plans. Hunter should be open. And yeah go to the hospital. Don't be an idiot. -

There is a 20 off coupon available on Camelback site. Not skiing anywhere this weekend but will be at Camelback next sat or sun if they are open as planned. -
Hope so, I got a JFBB day and a Camelback day left to use up on my PASR cards. And can't ski this weekend as it turns out. Looks like my passes for three to Big Bear are going to waste. Never seemed worth the extra drive. Still got a killer deal on those three cards though. My average cost per lift ticket this year is going to be about $13 I expect. Will do the final math after I ski my last, which will probably be weekend of April 11/12.

I was bummed they never opened that indoor skiing facility in E. Rutherford, particularly as I lived 3 miles away when it was supposed to open. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Xanadu_Indoor_Ski.JPG Not that I probably would have used it very much. Would have been a nice place for kids to get their first lessons but otherwise pretty useless except for folks that dug halfpipes and rails. It was only going to have a 140 foot vertical. -

I guess lacking competition this year from any of the comparable NEPA resorts the next 2 weeks means they have less reason to discount as heavily. Thanks Blue :-) -
