  1. If someone's near enough to Lawrenceville NJ to want to give me $10 for my PASR card to ski BB for a day (instead of spending $25 there), and thereby help defray the cost of me going to Hunter, let me know :-)
  2. On the fence. Is it worth going to ski BB even if it is free with PASR card? Is it worth the drive essentially? Not a real park guy, though I'll go over some small jumps or lips. Otherwise no real challenge or even excitement there, is there? Short runs. Slow lifts. Slushy slow snow. Kind of tempting to either pony up and go to Hunter for a real ski day, or do something else entirely. Like, say, bike. Feel like going to BB would largely be to get some runs in to hit my 200K vertical for the season, and that's a pretty dumb reason to spend 4 hours driving.
  3. BB posted on FB they will have all terrain and merry widow lift open
  4. Do folks think they will be open and if so how open will they be? How were conditions last weekend? Thinking of hitting it next weekend unless Camelback has another change of plans and actually opens. Or might take the trek to the 'skills instead where Hunter Belleayre and Plattekill are all indicating they plan to keep their lifts turning Gotta get my first year of 200K vertical one way or another :-)
  5. Seems like camelback may have pulled the plug for next weekend. Not sure about big boulders plans. Hunter should be open. And yeah go to the hospital. Don't be an idiot.
  6. There is a 20 off coupon available on Camelback site. Not skiing anywhere this weekend but will be at Camelback next sat or sun if they are open as planned.
  7. Hope so, I got a JFBB day and a Camelback day left to use up on my PASR cards. And can't ski this weekend as it turns out. Looks like my passes for three to Big Bear are going to waste. Never seemed worth the extra drive. Still got a killer deal on those three cards though. My average cost per lift ticket this year is going to be about $13 I expect. Will do the final math after I ski my last, which will probably be weekend of April 11/12.
  8. Boulder closing after Sunday?
  9. I was bummed they never opened that indoor skiing facility in E. Rutherford, particularly as I lived 3 miles away when it was supposed to open. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Xanadu_Indoor_Ski.JPG Not that I probably would have used it very much. Would have been a nice place for kids to get their first lessons but otherwise pretty useless except for folks that dug halfpipes and rails. It was only going to have a 140 foot vertical.
  10. Trying to keep a thread on topic is like trying to herd cats Trying to keep a thread on topic is like trying to herd cats
  11. Must not attempt to herd cats Must not attempt to herd cats Must not attempt to herd cats
  12. Hunter does 50% off for the disenfranchised
  13. I guess lacking competition this year from any of the comparable NEPA resorts the next 2 weeks means they have less reason to discount as heavily. Thanks Blue :-)
  14. Mountain Creek actually will re-open only 1 more day - April 1
  15. Big Bear is open the 3rd through 5th
  16. I still have passes to Camelback (2), JF/BB (1) and Big Bear (3) to use on my PASR cards, which I will try to use as many of as possible. Managed to use the last of the Blue passes today since they were closing. If it doesn't rain Friday I may take the kids to Big Bear to use up those three. Then do Camelback the 11th/12th.
  17. Blue is closed. Where are you gonna go now? Options include: Camelback Big Boulder Mountain Creek Hunter Big Bear Maybe Jack Frost Any other options for day trippers?
  18. Got 14 beautiful blue sky runs in. Lots of trails had deep heavy snow but you could zip right down challenge and razor making the double blacks easier on the legs than anything else here. It was scraped between the bumps on most of the bump runs but not on Barneys. Still enough snow to ski sleepy hollow. 6 pack line got fairly bad until they opened the 4 person lift around 1. Bye bye Blue, hope to ski you again in mid November. For now it will be camelback and points north for at least a couple more weeks I hope. Maybe I will actually get to meet some of you folks next year :-)
  19. Be there in 30 minutes :-)
  20. Not making it out there today. Out too late at a concert last night and playing one myself tonight so cant burn the candle in the middle. Hope to get some end of skison runs in tomorrow :-)
  21. Cool and where will you be setting up? Not sure I will make it sat but if I do I will drop by
  22. party only pre lifts or you folks keep it going for apres ski?
  23. Early afternoon was pretty perfect carve-able but fast everywhere but the bumps which were icy. Sleepy Hollow still nicely skiable. Chute had baby bump seeds on it that were more like gates than bumps. By 230 conditions were spring like, bumps had softened and the flat side of challenge was starting to get some piles. No lines whatsoever even with only 6 pack open. 12 runs in 2 hours. All the Mt personnel I spoke to were convincing that Sunday is last day for real without the reprieves we got last year.
  24. Camelback is still saying open to the 12th last I saw :-) Anyone gonna be up at Blue tomorrow afternoon?
  25. Skied with just one of the girls today - day 17 for her - as the other was tired after the tubing party and went off for a playdate with a good friend instead. . A great leap forward. She noticed me taking runs through the trees next to the trails she was skiing on and asked me to find some for her to try. By the end of the day she was doing significant portions of most of her runs through the trees. Never imagined her getting to this point her second season on skis. Also doing their hardest black diamonds like Renegade without falling at all. Proud papa. And the day was proclaimed best birthday party ever by pretty much all in attendance :-) 6" of soft fresh snow making all those tree tuns possible was pretty awesome too. None of them would have been skiable Thursday.
