  1. Pretty cool. Not much PA there which I guess saves the green pixels from excess wear and tear.
  2. Planning to use one of these to go to Shawnee with my two under 46" kids this weekend. Cant beat getting 3 of us on the snow for a total of $25. Gonna spend more in gas and tolls.
  3. For 11/24 through 11/27 Windham is staying open. Everywhere else in the Pocono and Catskills is shutting down til Black Friday. Might make a Windham trip either Mon or Tues if the Weather looks good. Then may hit Shawnee with the kids next weekend. 3 days in November would be an epic start to the Skison
  4. Also skiable trees to the right of lazy mile before the cut off to sidewinder
  5. Got 20 runs in from 930 to 2 including bumps, jumps and stashes in the trees :-)
  6. Heading over to Blue but wont be there for opening bell. If you folks have any later meet up planned let me know.
  7. Why are the online tix $57 for 8 hrs instead of $40 for 6?
  8. 80-81 skison. The first skis/boots/poles I bought were used rentals there and the polls has "Little Gap" painted on them (looked like it was sprayed through as stencil). Did a fair amount of night skiing there through 1983. Definitely the place I learned to ski more than anywhere else, though I had been to Elk, Spring and Doe (now Bear Creek) before I discovered Little Gap. Also spent a weekend doing Frost/BigBoulder/Split Rock and a day at Alpine. That was the extent of my skiing through the 87-88 skison. After that I started venturing further north and west.
  9. Any chance they are opening Lazy this weekend? Thay would make all of Little Gap except Burma and Widowmaker. Comin down with a bit of something today so I may do Sunday instead of Sat. See how I feel when the alarm goes off at 530am.
  10. Nothing makes a new term catch on quite like GSS harshing on it :-)
  11. 2 free days at Blue after Jan 5, and will use them on full price days. Not gonna go straight up to Catskills as I don't want to pay for lodging and if I ski hard first day of season, my legs may need a break before day 2. OK, no more skison. I get silly amidst early season stokage. Definitely hitting Blue day 1, just doing public service analysis as part of getting psyched to ski
  12. There's that :-) You know the vertical of Main St chair? Did I guess right or was I a little short?
  13. So here's the comparison for this sat/sun weekend (all prices best available including online in advance, and there are some smaller runs at many of those places as well as those listed): Windham - 2 1600' vertical routes, with some shorter runs too, high speed lift, $52 Hunter - 2 1600' vertical routes, with some alternate runs, high speed lift, $32 online Belleayre - one 800' vertical route $25 Blue - one 800' vertical route, with some alternate runs, $40 for 6 hrs (is that accurate vertical - not certain) Big Boulder - one 200' vertical route $20 While Blue is more expensive than Hunter or Belleayre, anyone going with no more than 2 people in a car from PA/Central NJ would spend more going to Hunter or Belleayre when gas and tolls are considered. Blue is my choice for Saturday as 800' vertical is enough for me my first day of the "skison". Might consider heading to one of the Catskills places Sunday if I can't get enough.
  14. Best way to look at the terrain they've got planned: it's all the expert terrain at Little Gap (save widowmaker) fired up for opening day in mid November.
  15. What does "then lot" mean, and how would I find folks
  16. Alright! Guess I will do Blue on Saturday. Fine way to start the "skison." What time they open and any PASR meet up plans?
  17. And the answer is BB opens tomorrow with just Freedom, and with the 10 cans special only Thurs 3-9. $20 tix all weekend. $25 at Belleayre sounding good to me, though not counting out Hunder/Windham depending on what deals they offer and what terrain they open
  18. Just Freedom per their site. Thurs 3-9 you get in with 10 cans of food. Rest of the weekend it's $20. Since it's just Freedom, I expect I'll hit one of the Catskills options instead
  19. If Boulder is open top to bottom that's like 475 feet vertical for $8 Belleayre is 800 feet for $25 Hunter/Windham are 1600 feet for $70 or so. After 7 months off skis warming up my legs somewhere small and cheap could be good, then go somewhere bigger/further/pricier the next day. See what my potential ski companions feel about the options as well. Anyway you slice it, not a bad decision to have to make before slicing your turkey.
  20. Just called up BB and they said they expect to announce opening day tonight, and will be doing the BB Gives Back (free skiing with 10 cans of food or $10 toy) deal on opening day.
  21. Just called up BB and they said they expect to announce opening day tonight, and will be doing the BB Gives Back (free skiing with 10 cans of food or $10 toy) deal on opening day.
  22. Hunter's about an hour more drive than Boulder for me, add another 15 for Belleayre or Windham If Big Boulder park is open with no features and canned food deal on Sat, that's probably my deal, and may do one of the others Sunday. But can't count that chicken in yet.
  23. No they haven't announced anything but it seems they usually do that ski for 10 cans thing on opening day
  24. From what they are making snow on it could be two top to bottom runs (one intermed, one expert) as well as some lower mountain stuff, so its not that different from Hunter. The nice thing is that having three Catskill places open should reduce the crowds at all of them
