  1. Pass taken (I also posted on AlpineZone)
  2. Of course they have separate snow making systems. They are at least 10 miles apart.
  3. Sure looks like they are making snow on a pretty wide swath of the mountain from their webcams
  4. Got a free pass good any one day to Whaleback in NH thrown in with my Mountain Sports Club membership. No way I'm going to use it, so if you would, send me your info and I will mail it to you. What goes around comes around, after all.
  5. Just so long as they have the North Face open it will remain worth the trip
  6. Care to give any hints where the stashes are?
  7. Thanks for the 411. Gore seems to be the closest place other than Hunter that will be open before Black Friday What's WROD? And why do you feel that way? Never been up there that early myself. Is it due to crowds? I'm actually most likely to go up Monday the 24th when crowds would be smaller and prices lower (particularyl as I grabbed a Big Lift card which gives deep discounts on weekdays).
  8. Hope it's still in the cards with rain scheduled for today. Hoping to head up there this weekend if conditions seem to warrant it. Anyone else can't wait for PA to open and thinking of doing the extra drive? Anyone know what terrain Hunter tends to open with?
  9. Any tips on finding the route or you really need a guide?
  10. Sure, I was just posting the offer I was aware of, which is through Princeton. Anyone aware of another offer, please share if so inclined.
  11. Plenty of groomed stuff at magic
  12. As a good % of my ski time is now with a pair of 7 year olds I could see that. So far I have not taken them anywhere that it was either needed or offered (Spring, Shawnee and Big Boulder so far).
  13. A comprehensive list of all the dates on which I have paid for parking at a ski area: For the awesome glades?
  14. I know they have a close in lot only for Subarus
  15. If I were to spend two days in the Manchester region, it would be one day at Magic and one day at Bromley. And I'd probably work a deal so it cost me in total less than 1 day at Stratton, which I would not miss.
  16. 17. Chincoteague: where the flies are bigger than the ponies
  18. Cool, I'll look for posts about meeting times
  19. If I were setting the pricing, I would offer a full day option and a 4 hour option. Like Windham does.
  20. Definitely hope to meet some of you folks. How do you generally meet up? I'm pretty much a weekend skier who gets out one day almost every winter weekend and maybe some extra times on holiday weekends and between Xmas and NYear. I expect the ski areas don't really make any revenue directly from these cards, but it's pretty under the radar so it doesn't cut much into real sales, and the marginal cost of an extra skiier on the mountain is zilch (or less, because most spend some money there). I'd say the main incentive for ski areas to do these deals are: 1. Expose new people to their hills (lots of folks would have only been to Blue and Camelback of these 6 - perhaps they get the revenue and the others signed on for free to get exposure) 2. Make $ on food/drink/rentals/lessons
  21. I probably wouldn't do it if I was a passholder at Blue or Camelback. I don't get to ski enough to warrant a pass, I like to rotate what mt I ski at, and I can get to the pokes a lot more often than I can get to the skills, so two of these cards is just right for me. I'm also getting the Hunter big lift card and the Windham ski club card which give me lift tix and discounts to both of those. And got a $50 mountain sports club card which gave me another 2 tix to Shawnee (where I ski with my kids, who ski free under 46"). With all these deals I am now paid up for 12 days of skiing (and 4 days with 2 kids also skiing) for an average of $24/day, even not using the Alpine and Big Bear tix on this card (though I might wind up going to one of these wit the kids). Between that I'm pretty much covered. Will also throw in some mornings at Montage, some extra days at Hunter and Windham, and could perhaps hit Elk/Belleayre/Plattekill/Gore at some point in the season - most likely before this card kicks in Jan 6. Got the kids seasonal rentals, got my skis tuned, now all I need is some snow.
  22. Not that I would ever ski more, but I really don't see what they gain by limiting people to 6 hours. If anything it will get people to spend less time taking a break to eat and drink, which is not in their interest.
  23. Not that realistic reselling one of these RFID tix to begin with as you can't tell by looking that it is still valid
  24. I do have a lot more fondness for Belleayre than most people here seem to. They leave lots of the mountain ungroomed and have some quite challenging terrain. There are never lines on the lifts for the challenging terrain. They have a few real nice gladed areas with a new one opening this season. Of course the real relatively undiscovered gem for challenging ungroomed terrrain in the Catskills is Plattekill, but that won't work for your GF who wants intermediate groomers, as there are only a couple of those there. And it 12 miles past the middle of nowhere.
  25. Another perk: if you join this ski club (or pretty much any ski club) you are also eligible to purchase a $30 Windham Ski Club Card (google it for details) which if you order by 12/1 includes a free Windham lift ticket, as well as getting you discounts on other tickets.
