  1. Looks like the two choices are 6 hour pass or night pass. Doubt I've ever wanted to spend more than 6 hours skiing Blue
  2. Montage lets you ski trees and even has a designated nicely spaced non steep gladed area up top that lets intermediates get a taste of it And the bottom area at Montage is the most challenging skiing in PA and much of it is often left ungroomed. Their $28 weekend morning ticket is the best deal in PA, particularly as there is never a line for the expert terrain lift even on holiday weekends
  3. I'd go there a bunch more if it had a high speed lift on East mtn
  4. Based on tix I already got I will be 2 days each at camelback, blue and frost, 4 days with kids at shawnee, 1 day each at hunter and windham. May do some extra days at some of these and could well hit montage, elk, bellayre, plattekill and Gore too. I like to change it up. Going the same place too much I get bored. Plus I never get to ski enough for a pass to pay. Generally between 10 and 20 days.
  5. For lots of long intermediate cruisers and luxurious surroundings a woman will dig, it's hard to beat Stratton. For me my one day there was enough. Where are you driving from? Is Gore worth considering? They've got lots of intermediate stuff but lots of challenge too and better glades. Probably save some money on lifts and lodging compared to Stratton as well.
  6. I'd say Bellayre has more challenge than Stratton but you will get more vertical and more cruising ar Stratton. Depends what you like. Never been to Bromley. Why not Mt Snow? That has most challenge in southern VT
  7. Got an email blast from PASAA touting a new lift ticket pricing structure at Blue with only two types of tix (I guess weekday or weekend) and any ticket lasts 6 hours from first use. Anyone know the details. Does this mean no more sunday night discount pricing?
  8. Cool, I see they are planning to start making snow this Friday. Any other Pocono spots announce a tentative opening yet?
  9. No blackouts but only good after 1/5. For details contact gkoscs@gmail.com. It is through NJ Ski Counsel. $30 to join princeton ski club Buy enough of these and its a better deal than a pass for a frequent skier
  10. If you join Princeton Ski Club you can purchase any number of Pocono Ski and Ride Cards for $ 55 each. Each card gets you a day of skiing after Jan 5 at each of the following: blue, camelback, jf/BB, Shawnee, Alpine, Big Bear. Checks must be received by nov 20. Tough deal to beat even if you only ski a couple of these places. I ordered two cards and plan to use each at 4 of the Mts (blue, cbk and jf for me, shawnee with kids - who ski free there), so I will get 8 ski days for me 140 including the dues (and that is not even considering kids skiing free with me at Shawnee). 17.50/day is less than gas. This deal is not on their site but if folks are interested I can tell you who to contact about it (or you could just reach out to club directly)
  11. So I picked up the 2014-15 brochure and see there is a new trail coming soon to the left of Paradise on the map. Anyone know any details or when it will be open?
  12. You can purchase a Mountain Sports Club Premium Membership for $50 that includes 2 Shawnee lift tickets good any day this season. While Shawnee is a bit tame for me to ski on my own, it is a great place to take my kids (who started skiing just last season). And with Shawnee's policy of letting kids under 46" ski free with a paying adult, this becomse a steal, as three of us will get to ski twice for a total of $50 Membership also makes you eligible for deals at a wide range of other resorts, though Shawnee is the only one in PA (2 for one on Superbowl Sunday at Shawnee is another deal you get with this membership). http://www.mountainsportsclub.com/

  14. Had a fine time Saturday at Hunter. Sounds like Gore and Whiteface (and some in VT, NH, ME) are the ones that will be open this coming weekend, and Whiteface may extend beyond that. I still want to ski, but it's not looking too likely for this season with next weekend being impossible for me.
  15. $30 lift tickets at Hunter this weekend if you buy online in advance $29 lift tickets at Belleayre this weekend Wonder what they will be at Blue if they open They clear it pretty quick, but while the snow or ice is actually falling there's only so much they can do
  16. Hunter is about 15 minutes closer than Belleayre for anyone getting to them by going north on the NYS Thruway. One exit further, but closer to the exit. In snowy/icy conditions they are more or less equal as the road from the Thruway to Hunter is more treacherous and needs to be taken slower at parts in bad conditions.
  17. Understood, that's why I check.
  18. Yeah, from Princeton area Hunter is only about 15 minutes further than Elk - which is why I so seldom get to Elk. You can make up that 30 minutes on the round trip drive pretty quickly on the high speed lifts, and there is more challenge and more than 50% more vertical.
  19. Thanks for the heads up. Would have been considering taking the kids, who are still itching for more skiing after their day 8, if it has seemed suitable.
  20. Fair enough, I forgot how far it is. It's comparable to Mt Snow, and both about 45 minutes short of Killington. I guess to be realistically day trippable beyond the Catskills we'd need to look at something in MA or CT.
  21. Next weekend it seems that Belleayre, Hunter, Gore and possibly Blue will be open. Not aware of anything else that is day-trippable from central NJ. Anything I am missing?
  22. Fun day with the kids at BB Saturday. There was talk at the mountain that they hope to reopen for a one day "May Day" special the first Saturday in May with discount tix (I believe past years have been $10). That would mean they were open for nearly 6 months in 7 calendar months. Wonder when the last time a PA hill pulled off that feat. I'm guessing if they do open it will be pretty limited. Anyone experience one of these days in past years and care to comment?
  23. Thanks, wish I could meet many of you folks at the close out party for Blue, but to ski with kids it is hard to beat the $15 lifts and $15 rentals BB is offering for Saturday, and this should be ample challenge for them (so far they have been to Spring and Shawnee)
  24. Called and spoke to guest services, they wlil be 100% open including non-park trails, Weather permitting I will take my girls out for their 8th day on skis, and last this season, on Saturday.
  25. Thanks for the info about the triples. How much non-Park skiing is there still at BB?
