Floyd's opening tomorrow
Ski2Live Live2Ski replied to Ski2Live Live2Ski's topic in Jack Frost & Big Boulder
I go to JFrost rarely, but it is worth reporting on its status and conditions in a PA skiing forum. Closest thing I have to a home mountain is Hunter (4 of my 15 days this skison) which has at least double the open terrain Blue has. -

JF now reporting listed trails 100% open. Glades, elevator not included in that. What other PA hills have made it to 100% open this season? -

I stayed on Paradise lift (new quad on East Mountain), and got 10 runs in 2-415. As a single I never waited more than 5 min and half the time 1-2 min. In PM it was hard pack and slick on Floyd's (lots of yard sales) and Challenge. Much nicer carveable surface on TBolt and upper runs of East Mtn. -

Was at JF this afternoon. Everything open but RiverShot and the glades now. River is covered with whales that just need to be groomed out. Should be at 100% immanently. -

If there are any other posts you would like to pay me over $500 not to make please notify me in advance. I have been back there a few times courtesy of folks buddy passes 🙂 -

I've spent exactly zero skiing Blue since 59 months ago when I spent $597 on 3 passes that got us 42 ski days for $14.25/person/day. (Excluding gas and hot cocoas) -
Maybe River Shot too - not sure. Gonna hit either this or RoundTop on Sunday. If anyone is free Sat Nt come see our tribute to Stevie Nicks. Details at https://fb.me/e/7CHwml5Nx Here is our version of Rhiannon https://fb.watch/irRDew3Ba-/

I cant read minds but it would be reasonable to not do so knowing it was going to warm up and rain so drastically a few days later that all the $ put into snowmaking would Xmas weekend woulf be washed away NYears weekend before those $ were recouped in extra lift ticket sales.

3 nights followed by 2x24 hr periods is enough time to fully blanked a bare mountain with good ski conditions. Hope they make the most of it and hope the forecast is wrong about the 10 days after that.

Tough break Montage Ops getting shut down by power outage in a rare prime snow making window.

Seriously, WTF is with this Weather?

Yes I usually do a Western trip sometime Feb-April. Nice to have local options too. So far it is the winter that never was in NJ. -

Probably wise in most cases, but time constraints (have to be at or on my way to/from a gig on Sat from 430 to midnight) will have me either at JFrost or RTop this weekend, neither of which have yet opened their most challenging terrain - and I'd rather get a day in with the stuff at skiers' right open than have more days in March with some blues that should be greens open. -

Long range forecast is sure looking depressing. This weekend should at least be the best in a while with good snow making temps Tues-Sat. Expect I will enjoy the Spring skiing Sunday as current trends don't look good for much of that extending into the actual Spring. -
Personally I can't conceive of counting skiing 2 places on the same day as 2 days. Particularly when a shared lift ticket has been good at both for over 40 years. Killington has multiple peaks that are much further apart than JF and BB, but hitting every Killington peak in a day would presumably count as less ski days than a day in which you ski at BB and Frost? Would throwing in a run at Pico make your Killington day count as 2? How do you count the two distinct peaks at Stowe or Sugsrbush? Paging Rhyme and Reason

Pretty nice conditions on the north face yesterday - all groomed out including White Lightning. Some slick spots at first but softened as it warmed. Whistler up top was treacherously icy at opening - a blue but harder than anything else I skied. Lots of folks skiing in Eagles garb breaking into their Fight Song in the lift quque. Long Haul was open - rode that a couple times. Noted it has 180 chairs on it - expect that is a record for PA. I believe Stowe's Lookout Double has over 200. Noticed a President Biden in Scranton - first time I saw that

Yeah looks like you can do Whistler to Lower Runaway off it is all. If so will basically use it to get a run back to the lodge for lunch.
-
Montage seem to have all their interesting runs open - apart from trees - and have gotten more snow than rain this week. Expect to be there with my teens this Saturday - mostly on the North Face, plus a couple runs off Long Haul if they see fit to run it.

Sorry here is a larger image that is more helpful (though not promising) for Blue skiers. Blue Knob is getting some love though. -

Had about 4" of Fresh light snow when Hunter opened at 9, about 6" on Northface when it opened at 10:30, about 8" by the time I left at 3pm. No lines, 19 beautiful runs. My best day of this skison. Still not open: the glades, lower K27, Racers Edge and Hunter West. -

It's a nice clean room and a homey place. Bed feels comfortable. I will be back here again. 6 bedrooms actually. $80 for the ones with a twin bed in addition to a queen bed. -

No coupon and just me - that is their Sunday Nt rate for a room with a queen bed. Half a mile walk to center of Tannersville - so I will leave car parked while I find a place to get food and drink while rooting against the Cowboys.
