Having a nice afternoon at Shawnee with girls. Soft enough snow and no lines. Best run is Lookout to Chief Thundercloud. 2nd of our 2 IndyPass days here. Realized this is the place the girls have skied the most - over 20x, maybe up to 25.

Gonna hit Shawnee tomorrow PM with girls. They got 4" and opened a 2nd TTB route: Lookout (Blue) to Chief Thundercloud (Black). Will make for a bit more variety than just lapping Pennsylvania (Green) as we did last time.

No time for Greek this weekend. Have events planned for Friday and Sunday nights. Will be skiing Shawnee with girls. Won't be all that awesome but will beat not skiing. Hope to hit GP later in Skison.

Of course the best option would be for Blue and Camelback to join the Ikon pass, which is affiliated with the company that manages both. That would be my sole pass if they did that.

I think they are pretty equal quality but distinct enough that I would like a pass with both options. Blue has longer runs, CBK a wider variety of runs. Both get stupid crowded by mid morning weekends - but probably easier to avoid crowds at CBK with their slower lift options, particularly now that the Bubble will be a draw and Blue has shut down its slower lifts. Would consider a 2 mountain pass for next year if priced reasonably. That might replace either my Epic or Indy but I would still get one of those to ski further and better places.

Montage reporting 3" yesterday and opening with Cannonball, Boomer, Whistler to Lower Runaway and other minor trails. Not gonna head that far this weekend for limited terrain and not much fresh snow. But that is the 411 for those interested.

Nowhere good: Spring & Campgaw are 75 (and Big Snow 60 off peak) Bear Creek and Shawnee are 90 min Blue and Camelback 100 min JF/BB 110 min Mountain Creek 120 Those are the 10 closest of which I'd say Blue and Cbk are about tied for 1st. Stretch it to 135-200 min and I prefer Montage, Elk, Whitetail or any of the 4 in Catskills (I don't prefer Roundtop, Liberty or Big Bear)

Look forward to seeing what combined pass deal they offer for sale in Feb 2023-24. What was cheapest price Blue offered a full pass for this year?

So if you have a Value Pass at CBK (which was originally offered at $349 - good weekdays and weekends after 3) - you can get a valid at all times Blue pass for $129? Nice deal for $478

I would give serious consideration to a Blue / CB combined pass. One Mt all winter is too dull. The 2 best of the 10 ski areas within 75-120 min of me would be worth some scratch. Make it so.

On the fence between Shawnee and Montage for a day this weekend - no time to go further. If Montage gets enough snow to open the whole North Face this weekend, will likely head there. If only Cannonball and Boomer then will likely burn our 2nd Shawnee Indy day and save our Montage ones, especially as Shawnee blacks out Saturdays after tomorrow until 2nd half of.March.

Cause Google is wrong in this instance. Blue is not on the Pocono Plateau. It is on a separate rodge south of that Plateau, just as Montage and Elk are north of it.

Extending Main St would make the new lift a move worth the price of admission and make Blue more legit 1000+ foot area.

Jan 1980 on a 2 day trip with a group of at least 20 kids from school that went in together to charter a bus to Elk. Took a beginner group lesson then hit Lehigh off the top which took me all day to make it down. Was too sore to do much beyond the lesson on day 2.

Focused on couple time while at Roxbury, gonna hit Hunter tomorrow. With light weekday traffic and cold temps it should still be quite nice from the 7" they got Sunday through Sunday night.

It is but I get 2 days at montage on Indy Pass already and a third at 25% off, so not convinced I need more
