  1. Hope PA places take advantage of the snow making weather. A lot of times after getting to Presidents weekend places don't want to invest a lot more in snowmaking and would rather coast through the rest of the skison as crowds start to dwindle.
  2. I'd love for then to get fully open and would use my IndyPass to check them out if they do. I am pretty discouraged about the outlook for the rest of this PA ski season with the rain we have just had and the further rain days forecast for this week. Planning to hit Roundtop for some spring skiing Monday. And might hit Montage next weekend if their conditions hold up.
  3. So fog basically? Guessing no prayer of them getting fully open this year other than a major snowstorm.
  4. Gonna see who in the East is willing to put $ into snowmaking after this weekend. The rest may have a very short season.
  5. Agreed - doesn't touch Blue especially now that weekend lines are at least as bad at JF. Of Epic PA options Roundtop remains a pretty nice place with smaller lines.
  6. Stowe and Okemo also significant for PA and NJ skiers as opposed to Snow being only VT option And Epic cheaper
  7. Yeah didn't notice any signs for glades. Also no longer seeding bumps on Exhibition, and it was 100% groomed. Honestly fairly dull without glades or bumps won't be back again soon. Quit when it started raining after 10 runs. Oh well, only had to take half a day off work and it beat working. If I'm gonna ski an Epic place in PA again this season it will be Roundtop or Whitetail.
  8. JF 100% open but glades too thin to be worth skiing. No lines whatsoever. Nice carveable surface.
  9. With difficulties they are having hiring nationwide I can easily see Vail making the call that the income stream tubing at JF could generate is insignificant compared to the issues created by lack of lift operators and snow makers at more prominent places. I am puzzled by their taking away BB's parks and extended season while announcing plans to upgrade their lifts though. Why throw money at a place while taking away the few marketing appeals it had. Without parks, I can't see who is going to BB over larger places around the corner for newer (still slow) lifts.
  10. Might hit JF tomorrow before the rains make things worse. Any intel on how it is holding up since last week? Guessing no coverage in glades at present.
  11. Didn't get the fresh slush
  12. Parking lot was packed when we arrived at 1030 but lift lines no more than 5 min as a lot of people were here for snow tubing (which sold out) or bunny hill. Most crowded trail from top also the green one. Soft snow, 100% of trails open and all but one lift. Base depth fairly thin on some trails. Mellow ski day with my girls.
  13. Gonna use our 2nd Shawnee day on IndyPass today. Feb Spring skiing.
  14. Catamount closer to on the way to Magic than B.East is. Catamount is also on the way to B.East. I hear Cat has been crazy busy weekends though, unlike most Indy places. West is on the way to Bolton Valley which is on the way to Jay. And B.East can be on way back from Jay for a nice loop (could throw in Cat after that too).
  15. Makes it a good place to ask for info on PA ski conditions
  16. Just seeking some information here and getting attacked for asking a question. No offense intended to folks who mostly ski PA.
  17. Good to hear. As I've been skiing further north almost exclusively this year I am not sure how the base in PA is doing. I know last week's storm that gave Stowe 18" was mostly rain down here so being cautious.
  18. Base seem good enough for the north face trails to be in good shape Sat after a couple warm days?
  19. After 3 awesome days at Stowe gonna hit Okemo today on the way home
  20. Hope I will still get out west later this season yes
  21. Yep more gas, tolls, wear and tear. Didn't do it to save $ just a nice side effect. Did it for better snow and cause I despise flying.
  22. Only lost $75 Frontier mile restocking fee canceling on Vail. There were about no rooms in Stowe but plenty in Burlington and glad to get BW in Watetbury which I have stayed at several times now. Breakfast even beats Hampton Inn. Net savings about $550-600 each between no airport parking, cheaper hotel, no car rental, free breakfast.
  23. Parked at Toll House 50' from lift at 9am. Had no lines sticking to Spruce Peak (easier to take breaks there as windchill early in day were sub zero) through 1pm Sun with beautiful snow cover on trails and woods. After lunch much warmer had about 7 min line for Gondola then no line for last run off Forerunner Quad back down to Toll House, winding through woods whenever possible. Friend snapped those photos showing me in trees on Spruce Peak. Back for more today through Wed.
  24. Going with a buddy from law school - we had originally planned our Vail trip together. He mostly snowboards these days but we have been friends for 29 years so I let it slide. Hope he brings skis too.
