I will likely head up to Montage Sun Dec 5 if they open Northface by then

No crowds at all in AM and real nice conditions for fall. Rode first couple 6 pack chairs solo. Around 1130, after.my break, both lifts were down long enough - with line dispersed from 6 pack, that I decided to split. 6 top to bottom runs for 8800 feet on Hellgate and Belt Parkway wasn't bad for a day 1. Only took me 2:40 to get there. Much longer with traffic coming home.

First drive of Skison almost as stoke building as first chair. This will be 6th year in a row I start skiing in Nov. I was a slacker in 2015-16 only skiing 16 days and missing November. Have been in the 25-41 day range every subsequent year.

Sunday will definitely be the day to go. Gonna be real windy tomorrow and if wind holds shut down the chair to peak it will be ugly on chairs that go part way up.
-
Might not be that bad for singles line. At least there are 2 full top to bottom runs with 1460 vertical. First day of season my legs won't mind a break between runs that long, and this will get my legs in better shape for next weekend. Expect I can get as much skiing in as my legs want to do after 7.5 months off. I can do Hunter r/t drive in just under 6 hrs, and am more used to driving to ski as even Blue is 3.5 hr r/t and closest place I have skied in last two seasons on Epic is Jack Frost which is 4 hr r/t

Will be at Hunter Sunday

Guessing 2nd lift will be gondola to get people from lower parking to and from peak

He is at least local (from Jim Thorpe)

Nothing certain. Comments on both AZ and FB. Sounds like they are hoping to open Dot Nebel and Deer Run, both off Tomahawk lift.
-
Report on Alpine Zone that Blue is trying to open Friday. No source referenced. What do you folks think?
-
Looks like Belleayre plans to open the Tomahawk lift Friday with 927' vertical. May hit that Sat if Hunter doesn't open. But I bet they will.
-
If Blue and CB join a larger pass it will be Ikon as they have a corporate connection now and Epic has a pretty good PA presence already.
-
Became more relevant as this year I will be skiing mostly Epic and Indy places - discussed there more than here
-
Camelback did add 1 trail recently of course
-
Love to see pix of snow making beginning. Any rumors of when Blue hopes to open?

Getting some new Blizzak WS90s put on my AWD 2021 Subaru Forester Sport in time for the skison. Amazing I found a tire place willing to house the tires I am not using off season - seems like nobody does that anymore. Gonna be in better shape than ever before to ski some powder days this year. -

Killington open tomorrow. I'm gonna hold off at least til Nov 13 before I ski though. Most likely start once Hunter opens - either start Nov 18 or Nov 21. Getting girls season rentals Saturday. Let the stoke begin. Can't say I really miss hauling a sack of pigeon peas cans to ski Freedom -

Seriously jonesing to ski. Even with Indy and Epic purchases in hand - none of those places open for 5 weeks and I could be tempted to go "off pass" for a trip to Killington if they open much sooner. Big Snow didn't really cut it for a satisfying pre-skison adventure last year and they are still closed from fire damage anyway. Also waiting on my kids season rentals as local Ski Barn closed through October on account of being submerged in about 3 feet of toxic flood water from Ida. -

If I were planning just a few weekends of New England skiing I would go with Indy instead of Epic. Also gets you into Montage and Bkue Knob in PA. and you can do New England weekends at Magic, B.East, Bolton, Jay, Cannon, Waterville. -
1 Epic Local & 3 Indy

Seems these new chairs are for 22/23. And bummed to realize the E & F chairs are not the ones I thought they were (East Mountain) but are actually the 2 beginner area chairs. I would have thought the A chair most needed replacing. Wasn't it out of service pretty much all last year?
