Thanks Toast for the ticket. Nice to say hi to all of you briefly, though I remain most comfortable in masked gatherings. Nice conditions today for what the weather has been - and much better than Hunter today from all reports. Got in 12 runs, with my fav (the one I did 2x) being Widowmaker > Chute > Main St. Good to be back at Blue after 2 years. Hope I get some decent conditions in New England Thurs-Sun. Sounds like there could be snow Thurs.

I figure Montage is about 15 further than Frost from Central NJ or Philly, but the issue is it's only 30 min closer than Hunter from Central NJ.

I counted it - but doubt I will go back. Only real plus I can say is it was good to find out my daughter needed larger seasonal rental boots before we were somewhere further. -

Day 34 for me tomorrow - then planning 4 days in VT and 4 at Vail - 42 days weather permitting, shattering earlier record of 31 -

If anyone still has a buddy pass that would otherwise go to waste I'd be psyched to ski Blue the last day of their season instead of hitting Frost or Hunter. -

I'd make use of a Blue buddy pass tomorrow if anyone has one to spare. Hit the old stomping ground once this season. -
Shawnee was a great place to get kids up to speed on skiing. Skied there countless times when kids were in 2nd and 3rd grades as they had a "kids under 42" ski free" special. But other than skiing the trees when there is enough natural snow (pretty rare) there is nothing there that really interests me as an adult skier. If I were lookng to get an affordable PA only pass I would go for Montage - which is $399 if purchased by Sunday. Best expert terrain in NEPA with possible exception of Elk and almost never a line.
-
Hopefully it will become clear before Ikon raises prices on May 5. I'd pay a bit more for a pass that included Camelback than for one with Epic's PA options.
-
Latest storm skiing podcast interviews head of Alterra who discusses possibility of adding CBk to their lineup. Will hold off on purchasing Epic Local as I see what happens there.
-
What are you talking about? Did Camelback join Epic?
-
Epic Local for us. At that rate it is worth sticking with them and keeping some PA options No way it is worth it to save a little $ on getting Epic NE, as I would spend way more than the difference skiing the blacked out holiday days, let alone losing coverage for a CO trip.

Early reports suggest Vail will announce tomorrow that all passes for next year will be 20% cheaper than this year.
-
Varies state by state and based on specific facts. Most likely shields them from ordinary negligence but not gross negligence / reckless endangerment - but some ski states may have enacted statutes making them more broadly applicable than other contractual liability waivers. In the end there is no certainty ever as to how a court would rule, parties are unlikely to push this all the way to a jury (aka coin flip) and really the presence of the waiver is a factor for attorney defending ski area to cite in arguing for a lower $ settlement.
-
Didn't see CBk on the list of ski areas at linked EPR site. Expecting to most likely switch from Vail this year but waiting for tomorrow's announcement to decide. If Blue did go Vail I can't imagine how crowded their peak times would be.
-
Interesting stuff. Given a bunch of the properties on that list are on Epic pass I expect it could mean Blue going Epic and be announced Tues as part of the Epic pass announcement. Kind of doubt Epic would continue VIP line as they aim for consistent operations.
-
Some chatter on AZ about CBk owners maybe buying Blue before next season. You folks hear anything about this?
-
I figure there was not much point BB playing its very limited early & late season game with Big Snow in town 365 days a year offering indoor version of Freedom. At least they are open later than they were last year Really there is no competition for Epic for folks who want a pass that covers both unlimited PA skiing and unlimited great skiing.
-
Dunno gotta have a little sympathy for the 70+ skiers who are too broke to move to the Rockies when they retire

I certainly ski less vert most times I ski PA. One day at Frost this year the lines were so bad I gave up around 4k, and Liberty was so dull I gave up before 5k. Often also ski less vert at the places with nice enough conditions for me to want to venture into trees or bumps regularly, as they slow me down considerably.

Cool - not claiming to be setting any amazing records - just enjoy tracking my own progress.

Current projection is through 4/11

I think I did 3 on the Flyer and the rest pretty evenly spit between west, north, F and D (the double to right of Flyer). It was actually the most I ever skied in a day by just a hair - a little over 24k vert - and put me over my 400k for the season - also a personal best, though I expect to hit about 550k this season unless some of my plans get cancelled.

Lines not too terribly long at Hunter this weekend. Got 23 runs in Sunday.
