  1. Thanks for the tip. None of that is set in stone of course, and will be mindful of conditions - just an idea for how it could work out. Cool thing is these are all places I have never been - other than Catamount, Shawnee and Montage. Another option if Magic didn't look good that week would be hitting West on way to or from N.Vt if I go down NYS Thruway.
  2. And now so are the 3 of us
  3. Went ahead and got the Indy Pass for girls and I and will also get my own Epic Pass Figuring I will use Indy as follows Xmas Break - 2 days each at Jay and Bolton and 1 day at Magic. MLK weekend - Catamount, B.East and Magic Spring Break - 3 days at some combo of Cannon, Waterville, Saddleback Catamount/B.East weekend Greek x2 weekend Blue Knob x2 weekend 2 day trips to Montage 2 day trips to Shawnee Maybe try West some time too That will be more than the 19 days the girls used their Epic passes last year. I will hit Epic areas solo alternate weekends (including Pres Wknd) & game lines riding as a single
  4. Per Google Maps 2:15 to Montage vs 3:10 to Hunter (I can do that in 2:45 early morning - but doing so got me a $250 ticket last year) So much more do-able for day trip. Due to limited days I would only use Montage when going with girls
  5. Montage addition has me contemplating getting Epic + Indy passes for me and just Indy passes for the girls - who ski with me only half the time as they split time with their mom and like Montage a lot. Ski the more crowded Epic places when I go solo and can use singles lines and the less crowded Indy places when with girls. Save a good amount of $ compared with 3 Epic passes and Montage is a real nice option that is closer than Hunter for a day trip or could be combined with Greek for a weekend with some variety. Also I could check out lots of places I have never been - Jay, Bolton, Magic, Greek, B.East.
  6. Had this been announced before Montage pass prices went up would have seriously considered doing Montage pass and this as add on (with $100 discount you get that way). Maybe next year.
  7. It's 25% off 3rd day
  8. Montage def boosts Indy appeal big time for the NJ/E.PA skiier.
  9. Sounds like they could get a foot or two of fresh snow in Southern / Central VT before weekend. Mt Snow (Carinthia only) and K still open.
  10. Just a touch of grey
  11. At 55 any hair is great hair, especially with some color still in it
  12. Don't tend to take pix when on snow in gloves - we have some nature shots too though
  13. Sorry here are some of the pix we took
  14. Back from Vail Set my record both for Days: 41 (up from 31); and Vertical: over 600k (never hit 400k before) Epic! That's a wrap til November
  15. Thanks Toast for the ticket. Nice to say hi to all of you briefly, though I remain most comfortable in masked gatherings. Nice conditions today for what the weather has been - and much better than Hunter today from all reports. Got in 12 runs, with my fav (the one I did 2x) being Widowmaker > Chute > Main St. Good to be back at Blue after 2 years. Hope I get some decent conditions in New England Thurs-Sun. Sounds like there could be snow Thurs.
  16. I figure Montage is about 15 further than Frost from Central NJ or Philly, but the issue is it's only 30 min closer than Hunter from Central NJ.
  17. I counted it - but doubt I will go back. Only real plus I can say is it was good to find out my daughter needed larger seasonal rental boots before we were somewhere further.
  18. Day 34 for me tomorrow - then planning 4 days in VT and 4 at Vail - 42 days weather permitting, shattering earlier record of 31
  19. Got it - thanks Toast! I'll look for you folks in the lower lot tomorroa
  20. Appreciate it! Let me know if you can figure it out! You can e-me at rfreeman18@yahoo.com
  21. If anyone still has a buddy pass that would otherwise go to waste I'd be psyched to ski Blue the last day of their season instead of hitting Frost or Hunter.
  22. I'd make use of a Blue buddy pass tomorrow if anyone has one to spare. Hit the old stomping ground once this season.
  23. Shawnee was a great place to get kids up to speed on skiing. Skied there countless times when kids were in 2nd and 3rd grades as they had a "kids under 42" ski free" special. But other than skiing the trees when there is enough natural snow (pretty rare) there is nothing there that really interests me as an adult skier. If I were lookng to get an affordable PA only pass I would go for Montage - which is $399 if purchased by Sunday. Best expert terrain in NEPA with possible exception of Elk and almost never a line.
  24. Hopefully it will become clear before Ikon raises prices on May 5. I'd pay a bit more for a pass that included Camelback than for one with Epic's PA options.
  25. Latest storm skiing podcast interviews head of Alterra who discusses possibility of adding CBk to their lineup. Will hold off on purchasing Epic Local as I see what happens there.
