  1. Hope it's Vail but would settle for anyone that is more a fan of skiing trees than of planting them.
  2. It is a nice service - very prompt and friendly. For 1-2 people it is to me a no brainer particularly with the Epic discount if going to only one Epic Mt as there is really no need for a car in any of those CO towns, as well as the cost and difficulty of ensuring you can renting a traction law compliant car and the challenges of driving through a rocky mt storm. For 3 people I could have saved some money renting an AWD vehicle, but there would have been much more hassle and driving risk involved. Of course Bustang is the cheaper way to go - but schedules are far less flexible and you have to still get between airport and downtown Denver with all your gear to get the bus. I opted to pay more to use our time and energy more efficiently. Very nice cookies - fresh slightly warm chocolate chip with soft center and crisp exterior. Take one at a time but can come back for another round. There is about a 15 min window they are being distributed starting at 3.
  3. Good bit more than $149/night at the Christy Lodge. We did save some $ on flights with Frontier miles but easily spent $2500 with the room, Epic Mountain Express, meals, baggage fees and parking (not counting lift tix which were free on Epic pass, or our HH purchases). Also free cookies each day. Bottom pic has the kids on the "Golden Eagle" double black World Champ downhill run off the Bird of Prey lift - which they aced twice with the optimal conditions of of 4" of fresh snow having fallen on top of a recently groomed surface. Next April: Vail
  4. Awesome time with my teens. Skied about 30k of vert today including moguls, trees, steeps. Stayed at the Christy Lodge in Avon. Got some HH jackets at an end of season sale. Boarding the red eye in an hour.
  5. Map showing weather forecast for Blue this weekend
  6. I guess their new line of business is profiting off the interest they make before issuing refunds.
  7. Good to know. Barring surprise snow I have skied my last PA day and last NYS day. Looking forward to 4 VT days 3/24-26 3 CO days 3/28-30 That will likely end my season - earlier than any recent year (other than 19-20 for obvious reasons)
  8. Go west young storm 😀 Will be at Beaver in 2 weeks 😎
  9. Will find out about Hunter on Sat (unless Sun forecast clears up in which case I may do Sat and Sun at OKemo) - but by all accounts it is much better than PA. No passholder party, which would be a bummer if I liked parties more than skiing.
  10. Bright side - whole East mtn still open at Frost and Hunter has more open acres and vert than even exist at Blue. Prob head for the latter on Sat.
  11. Ate in that new lodge once and it was much nicer than what preceded it. I was actually there twice when it was free for us - the first time alone and the next time with the kids - who I thought might still be at a level that it could interest them - and we had fun but they did mock their idea of "black diamonds".
  12. Alpine was 346 vertical to Roundtops 578 per Jollyturns. So it was 60% the vertical, not the 50% I estimated from memory A little bit shorter than either the shortest TTB lifts at the west end of JF or the biggest lifts at BB. Also shorter than Spring. Bigger than Campgaw or Big Snow
  13. Both are lies. Neither have/had that much vertical. Most ski areas lie about their vertical. Roundtop is close to their claimed vertical at 578' per Jollyturns which has accurate vertical for every lift currently in operation.
  14. No because RT has twice the vertical of Alpine and RT's Upper Gunbarrel (and arguably Upper Ramrod) are more challenging than anything at Blue. Like Frost if it only had the runs from Lehigh through River Run, had no trees, and had a bit less vertical
  15. You didnt miss much. Went there when kids just starting out as it was on PS&R card. Their blacks were no more challenging than Burma Rd and had less vertical.
  16. Real nice surface early, getting softer by 1130. Same stuff was open reported for yesterday. See what survives the 1.5" of rain they are supposed to get tomorrow through open on Sun. Love the slopeside parking - effectively makes time from home to JFBB slopes only an extra 5 min longer than getting to Blue or CBk.
  17. Thanks for update. Considering hitting it one last time this weekend. Roundtop appears to be worthless at this point. Wonder what will survive rain on Sat or if tomorrow will really be the only decent day.
  18. No way - they are not comparable academically. SATs on Sat
  19. The very extensive blackouts on the Ikon Base pass will keep us on Epic Local - which has fairly minimal blackouts and will run us about $1900 for 3 people (compared to $3100 for full Ikon). Nice to see they kept Windham though. Many try Ikon the following year once kids are off to college.
  20. JF open every day this week with no hotel. Blue could do it too.
  21. Epic does not provide use this season
  22. Nice to see the teen pass pricing introduced last year carry through to this year and with increases fairly modest our total bill for 3 will only be about $120 more than last year Waiting to see what Ikon is offering, including whether Windham remains on their pass.
