    Elk Sold

At those prices I can't imagine Elk sells a season pass to anyone other than those who own real estate within 30 minutes of there. Insane that they ask more for an Elk pass than Vail asks for a pass to almost 50 ski areas.
  2. I think I'd be comfortable with one other person not from my household on a 6 person or 4 person lift if I was skiing solo - as I would want at least 2 spaces between me and another person.
  3. It's pretty long. It's just flat. It has to be the first time I have ever seen a high speed lift used to connect 2 base areas.
  4. That is about the lamest use for a high speed lift one could imagine. Expect the vertical is about 100 feet if that. I suppose it will slightly reduce traffic on Stevenson and add traffic to Sullivan. And let them delay opening Stevenson side.
  5. Imagine it replaces lift that goes part way up near Pocono Raceway
  6. Certainly hope he recovers from Covid. And that he loses the election and gets convicted of enough of his hundreds of crimes that he dies in jail.
  7. Sounds like more than that to me the way they feature the announcement. I would guess replacing a fixed grip as hard to imagine where they would put an all new lift.
  8. Camelback email mentioned a new high speed lift. Anyone know where this is on the mt. Replace one of the fixed grips?
  9. Do they use it for AIDS too?
  10. Much as I would like to go out west with the air travel credits, hotel credit and Epic Pass I have - which would make it a close to free trip - I have yet to convince myself it makes sense to take on the risk of catching Covid via air travel for the greater joy of Western skiing. If I was ~20 and single like Salty it would be easier to decide to take that risk than being at higher risk (as a 55 yo man) and having 2 13yo girls I would risk leaving fatherless. May view things differently as things unfold and we get more data about risks of air travel - but that is where I am today. Hoping VT quarantine relaxes enough to allow me to go there and otherwise doing NH, NY and PA.
  11. Wasn't in the mall it was in the Big Snow area
  12. Did the Big Snow with the kids 530-720. They dug it a lot as a cool treat for summer. Could have kept going as long as we wanted as they only scanned our wristbands the first run but 20 runs was enough for us. Very good snow. Skied a little bigger than I expected with 160' vertical. Skied right onto the lift every run til about 645 when more people showed up. A better first day on skis than going to BB with only the lower mountain open in mid November as I have done a couple seasons as it has more pitch and better snow than Freedom. Was worth doing as both kids found issues with the fit of their season rental boots that we now will be able to address before taking a longer trip. No photos - figured that was covered above as it looked about the same today as yesterday. About 30 sec after getting off the snow I took a hard spill as the flooring indoors is super slick with wet ski boots. Dumb ass choice for flooring. Who could imagine folks would be walking on this stuff in wet ski boots?
  13. Considering taking kids to Big Snow tomorrow evening. Based on pix it seems like ample room for social distancing and it will at least be a way to try out their seasonal rental gear for fit while skiing and their existing ski clothes to make sure they dont need larger sizes - and to have some cool fun.
  14. I disagree that the credit card company would side with Liftopia based on a statement that it can't be refunded in the case where the service that you paid for was not provided. No refunds would be reasonably interpreted as you can't get a refund because you decided you couldn't or didn't want to go skiing that day. Not that you can't get your money back because the business refused to provide what you paid them to provide. It would be reasonable for them not to offer a cash refund but only to offer a credit against a future purchase, but they have to provide something in such a situation. McDonald's may have a no refund policy on their burgers. But if you pay your cash at window one and then get to window two and they say "sorry we are all out of burgers" then a "no refund" policy does not justify them sending you away empty handed without burger, cash or credit.
  15. Seriously? If a resort is completely closed on a day you bought a ticket for they provide no refund? Did this happen to you? And if so did you try to get refund through your credit card provider.
  16. They have to offer a refund if not open at all. If they refuse - call your credit card and report fraud and they will get you your refund. But if open with only Vista with bare spots you are out of luck
  17. Click on the "buy now" links on Blue's web site. $28 am start $22 early afternoon start $18 late afternoon / eve start
  18. 4 hr lift tix with pricing of $28, $22 and $18 depending on time sounds awesome and will lilely get me to Blue some even with an Epic pass. I rarely ski Blue more than 4 hrs at a stretch. A bit surprising that weekday and weekend pricing seems to be the same.
  19. Honestly being able to make reservations Waybin advance as a pass holder for peak days and have fewer folks on the mountains those days sounds like a plus to me unless it proves very difficult to make reservations for desired days even as a pass holder.
  20. You can only make 7 reservations more than a week in advance. Most will plan, as I am, to make them for most in demand weekend and holiday days they will want to ski or for when they have booked travel. For any other day to get a reservation will likely be a "try to grab then as quick as possible when they become available 7 days in advance" situation - ala Ticketmaster on sales. Fun fun. Doubt I will choose to deal with that every morning just in case there is a snowstorm on a weekday next week.
  21. Fortunately there are 6 Epic Mtns within day trip range so they would have to all be sold out for you to be SOL. And only likely to be an issue for weekends/holidays - so reserve those in advance and if a weekday pops up you want to ski try your luck reserving then.
  22. I am doing Epic Local as of now. But they offer complete refund if you can't book the 7 priority reservation days you want so may use that to get out of it depending how things unfold as I am sure one could try and fail to book most prime days at Hunter and then get refund. Biggest specific concern that could lead me to want refund is if VT maintains 2 week out of state quarantine period - as with risks of getting on a plane that could effectively limit it to NH (too far for ordinary weekend) Hunter and PA. Did just get kids season rentals though so committed to some skiing.
  23. If you are not another kind of pass holder then a day pass is the only way to ski before Dec 8
  24. Our practices are BYO Mic
  25. I am on quite a roll actually. I wrote a song in Feb, 2 in April and 2 in May.
