New high speed lift at Camelback official discussion thread
Ski2Live Live2Ski replied to saltyant's topic in Camelback
Thought they might have started it closer to the hotel. Looks like it is just where the old one was. Seems like a lot of work for nothing unless the old one was beyond repair. I guess they got some hype out of it but followed by disappointment when folks figure out is a non detachable lift with 50 feet or so of elevation- 121 replies

Doesn't make much sense to have gondolas glassed in for summer use unless they had AC as WDW does.- 121 replies

As Blue is saying they will offer pass holders pro rated refunds if Covid causes them to be open less than 100 days, that gives them incentive to be open every early season day they can - as there could clearly be another lock down this winter. And it actually seem the Main street and Burma chairs are better suited to one party per chair than the larger lifts. I'd do an early season day at Blue if they open in Nov for sure

Forst freeze tonight in Central NJ. It will be interesting to see who opens first in PA this year now that Vail has taken their 5 hills off the table for a Nov opening including traditional front runner Big Boulder. Where are folks thinking of getting their first turns in. Not counting my Sept couple hrs at Big Snow I might consider Mt Snow - if they pull off being open 11/14 as promised (2 weeks away!) with reasonable terrain. Or Hunter on 11/21 if no PA options by those weekends. Figure it is a season to get in turns as fast as we can as who knows what further shut downs await.

Pile of bricks was left in driveway by previous owner. Paid someone to make them into patio. Beats setting up instruments on grass. Unfortunately the online store that used to sell indy CDs like ours discontinued ops in March. Some reseller wound up with their stock and is selling them for ridiculous price like $37.

Were supposed to do our first rehearsal for the event tonight. But we rehearse outdoors (got a new patio installed in May) since this whole Covid thing and its drizzly tonight which does not agree with electric guitars and amplifiers.

Yep we are doing an outdoor socially distanced Xmas Rock & Soul Revue again this year as part of the event below. And yes it will include Love At Christmas Time. And all for the low low price of "It's cool to play live music for people again after so long. Maybe consider buying a CD or T shirt or getting the band a round of hot cocoas cause they will be freezing their butts off to entertain you". Have written and recorded live to video 7 new tunes in the Covid Era and believe we have in hand a new record deal where someone is actually paying all of our expenses to record some new originals. Thanks for checking in. Fa la la.

At those prices I can't imagine Elk sells a season pass to anyone other than those who own real estate within 30 minutes of there. Insane that they ask more for an Elk pass than Vail asks for a pass to almost 50 ski areas.

I think I'd be comfortable with one other person not from my household on a 6 person or 4 person lift if I was skiing solo - as I would want at least 2 spaces between me and another person.

It's pretty long. It's just flat. It has to be the first time I have ever seen a high speed lift used to connect 2 base areas.- 121 replies

That is about the lamest use for a high speed lift one could imagine. Expect the vertical is about 100 feet if that. I suppose it will slightly reduce traffic on Stevenson and add traffic to Sullivan. And let them delay opening Stevenson side.- 121 replies

Whoo-hoo, $399 for a CB unlimited (age restricted) season pass
Ski2Live Live2Ski replied to saltyant's topic in Camelback
Sounds like more than that to me the way they feature the announcement. I would guess replacing a fixed grip as hard to imagine where they would put an all new lift. -

Camelback email mentioned a new high speed lift. Anyone know where this is on the mt. Replace one of the fixed grips? -
Do they use it for AIDS too?

Much as I would like to go out west with the air travel credits, hotel credit and Epic Pass I have - which would make it a close to free trip - I have yet to convince myself it makes sense to take on the risk of catching Covid via air travel for the greater joy of Western skiing. If I was ~20 and single like Salty it would be easier to decide to take that risk than being at higher risk (as a 55 yo man) and having 2 13yo girls I would risk leaving fatherless. May view things differently as things unfold and we get more data about risks of air travel - but that is where I am today. Hoping VT quarantine relaxes enough to allow me to go there and otherwise doing NH, NY and PA.
