Did the Big Snow with the kids 530-720. They dug it a lot as a cool treat for summer. Could have kept going as long as we wanted as they only scanned our wristbands the first run but 20 runs was enough for us. Very good snow. Skied a little bigger than I expected with 160' vertical. Skied right onto the lift every run til about 645 when more people showed up. A better first day on skis than going to BB with only the lower mountain open in mid November as I have done a couple seasons as it has more pitch and better snow than Freedom. Was worth doing as both kids found issues with the fit of their season rental boots that we now will be able to address before taking a longer trip. No photos - figured that was covered above as it looked about the same today as yesterday. About 30 sec after getting off the snow I took a hard spill as the flooring indoors is super slick with wet ski boots. Dumb ass choice for flooring. Who could imagine folks would be walking on this stuff in wet ski boots?

Considering taking kids to Big Snow tomorrow evening. Based on pix it seems like ample room for social distancing and it will at least be a way to try out their seasonal rental gear for fit while skiing and their existing ski clothes to make sure they dont need larger sizes - and to have some cool fun.

I disagree that the credit card company would side with Liftopia based on a statement that it can't be refunded in the case where the service that you paid for was not provided. No refunds would be reasonably interpreted as you can't get a refund because you decided you couldn't or didn't want to go skiing that day. Not that you can't get your money back because the business refused to provide what you paid them to provide. It would be reasonable for them not to offer a cash refund but only to offer a credit against a future purchase, but they have to provide something in such a situation. McDonald's may have a no refund policy on their burgers. But if you pay your cash at window one and then get to window two and they say "sorry we are all out of burgers" then a "no refund" policy does not justify them sending you away empty handed without burger, cash or credit.
-
Seriously? If a resort is completely closed on a day you bought a ticket for they provide no refund? Did this happen to you? And if so did you try to get refund through your credit card provider.
-
They have to offer a refund if not open at all. If they refuse - call your credit card and report fraud and they will get you your refund. But if open with only Vista with bare spots you are out of luck

Click on the "buy now" links on Blue's web site. $28 am start $22 early afternoon start $18 late afternoon / eve start

4 hr lift tix with pricing of $28, $22 and $18 depending on time sounds awesome and will lilely get me to Blue some even with an Epic pass. I rarely ski Blue more than 4 hrs at a stretch. A bit surprising that weekday and weekend pricing seems to be the same.

Honestly being able to make reservations Waybin advance as a pass holder for peak days and have fewer folks on the mountains those days sounds like a plus to me unless it proves very difficult to make reservations for desired days even as a pass holder.
-
You can only make 7 reservations more than a week in advance. Most will plan, as I am, to make them for most in demand weekend and holiday days they will want to ski or for when they have booked travel. For any other day to get a reservation will likely be a "try to grab then as quick as possible when they become available 7 days in advance" situation - ala Ticketmaster on sales. Fun fun. Doubt I will choose to deal with that every morning just in case there is a snowstorm on a weekday next week.
-
Fortunately there are 6 Epic Mtns within day trip range so they would have to all be sold out for you to be SOL. And only likely to be an issue for weekends/holidays - so reserve those in advance and if a weekday pops up you want to ski try your luck reserving then.
-
I am doing Epic Local as of now. But they offer complete refund if you can't book the 7 priority reservation days you want so may use that to get out of it depending how things unfold as I am sure one could try and fail to book most prime days at Hunter and then get refund. Biggest specific concern that could lead me to want refund is if VT maintains 2 week out of state quarantine period - as with risks of getting on a plane that could effectively limit it to NH (too far for ordinary weekend) Hunter and PA. Did just get kids season rentals though so committed to some skiing.

If you are not another kind of pass holder then a day pass is the only way to ski before Dec 8

I am on quite a roll actually. I wrote a song in Feb, 2 in April and 2 in May.

Can't say what the future holds in that regard. But yes I am delighted to be wfh
-
It is. Fortunately 3 hrs of it was seated on a train doing whatever I wanted on a phone and I usually went in only 4x a week. Even more fortunate I am unlikely to do it again. It does pay about 65% more than the prior job I had 20 min away.

Almost as crazy as getting A-Basin reservations was getting reservations for Great Adventure's "what's old is new" Drive Thru Safari - but the kids and I are in for admission at the 9am members only opening tomorrow. Maybe we can ski down a giraffe.

Our company has strongly suggested they prefer most WFH forever. Will not miss commuting 3.5 hr RT daily.

No but we did have a socially distanced outdoor jam that day

31 days for $560 including 21 in NY VT or NH. I am more than happy with what I got for $19/day. Even if I were to discount PA skiing as worthless that is $27/day to ski Hunter or better And got an even better deal on each kid's skiing. They came out to $16/day More per day on the pass to be sure than when we got 3 blue passes last year for a total of $600 - but then we spent a bunch more in VT and CO. Epic passes were well worth it IMO. Gonna fo it again next year if there is a skison.
-
31 days skied on pass (including 3 in Spring 2019) and I get 20% refund and better (and free) pass insurance for next year. Awesome move by Vail. And 20% rebate is actually pretty close to the usage I missed as I expect I would have skied 4 more PA/NY/VT days in addition to the 4 I had booked at Vail. So I got in 31 of planned 39 days - very close to 80%

Gonna go back to hippy look from my 20s

Largely just doing stuff with Joy due to social distancing. She wrote a poem and I set it to music. She leans more to "deep" than I do.

Not the full Beagles during Lockdown - but Joy and I have "a new" tune
