  1. Montage offering $299 passes again for 20-21. Definitely the best deal in PA. Considering perhaps doing both this and Ikon Base - could get both for the 3 of us for a total of 1934 - but waiting to see what the Epic pricing looks like for next year before making the call.
  2. Blue is fine as something to hit 5x a year or so. I like it about as much as Camelback which is the same distance, and Frost which is an extra 15 minutes. We just didn't love having a pass that locked us into skiing one place all winter having gotten a good bit of variety each of the two preceding years with the PASR cards and 4th/5th Grade ski passports and this year with the Epic pass.
  3. My stats last year, while not quite this sad, were depressing
  4. Taking a road trip this weekend. Skiing PA 2 weeks in a row got a little old.
  5. Expect I will be with the girls at Hunter Sat and Sun for days 25 and 26 of my Skison. Expect to.top.my vertical record by Sun though I will still be 5 days shy of my 31 day record, which will also become toast this year if we all stay healthy.
  6. Had a good time Sat at Frost for a few hrs, mostly on East Mt trails and glade off Challenge. Nice that was skiable TTB.
  7. Nice to have both but a bumped up Boomer is always my fav of the 2 as WL is an easy cruiser apart from the steep but brief head wall.
  8. My hobby is skiing - not taking our my phone and removing gloves in arctic conditions. Maybe try the NatGeo site.
  9. North Face is my 1st choice for PA skiing generally - on account of Elk being at best 15 min closer than Hunter for me.
  10. Hit Sunappee on the way home on Tues at 11am. Originally planned this to be a brief "break up the drive" visit like Crotched had been on Sat, but pulled in to find about 6" of fresh snow had fallen and it was continuing to come down fast and furious - all light powdery snow and wind blowing it around as well so - helped by the nonexistent crowds that let us ski right on the lift all day - it was basically cutting fresh track in light deep snow every run. The marked glades were truly awesome as well - we tried 4 of them and went back for seconds on 3 of them. There was about 8-12" of powder every direction one might point ones skis and it was nice we had taken it easier at Attitash Monday so the girls legs were in pretty good shape for this. I wanted to take a pic for y'all but when I went turn on my phone the girls complained they were too cold and wanted to keep going (it was cold and windy enough that I bought them face masks for the first time). Best day of skiing my girls have ever had on the East Coast for sure and better than some of their West Coast days. I was a bit worried about the drive home with all the snow coming down, but not so worried that we departed this paradise before the closing bell. First 90 min driving on snowy mountain roads were rough going, but fortunately Inhad bought new tires a month ago after researching which all seasons were best in snow so we were in good shape. Pulled into my driveway at 11 am and tucked my kids into bed real quick as Joy was waiting for me with candles set up all around the Jacuzzi. Hi ho hi ho it's off to work I go - glad it's a short week.
  11. Attitash could not have been more different from Wildcat and totally lived up to its family Mountain rep complete with a dining area so filled with ski bags that there was not a table with foot room underneath, even though we wisely picked to hit it Sunday when there were light enough crowds that we could often ski onto the lift and never waited more than a couple min. Took it easier this day as one of my girls was complaining her legs hurt from the day before (we had pushed it on some legit tough runs including several trips through glades Sat and the girls had set their vertical record that day, passing 20k for the first time). Glades on lower Bear Peak were a nice treat that were at a good level for the girls to do a couple runs through but due to girls tired legs we mostly stuck to the groomers this day and Attitash has some great windy classic New England trails that fit the bill nicely. Overall this place reminds me of Okemo, but with more glades, much less crowds and less posh lifts. The slow lift - only route to Attitash peak - was the biggest drawback - especially on the ride where it stopped 3x.
  12. Stayed at the Merill Farm House Inn in North Conway. Nice people and place with a free sit down breakfast, cookie hour apres ski, late night musical jam session, and a private hot tub room you could book for 30 min.
  13. Sun we hit Wildcat which had gotten 4" fresh the night before which continued to come down during the day. Lines were never more than about 5 min on a high speed quad serving 2000' vertical even on Presidents Saturday. Clearly made the right call coming hear as I heard lines were very bad at Attitash that day. This place was a marvel. Conditions were amazing with fresh snow and mt 100% open. Loved the classic winding New England trails, tree runs and challenging ungroomed steeps. Super friendly people too leading to lots of interesting lift conversations. One guy told me of the adventures he and his buddies have had getting successive new ownership to honor the Lifetime Passes they purchased in 68/69. May be my favorite place I have skied in the East though there are plenty with more horizontal.
  14. 4 fun days of skiing from Sat to Tues that could not have been more different from one another. Saturday we hit Crotched largely to break up the drive to North Conway. With 900 feet of vertical it was fairly reminiscent of NEPA skiing but with a nice fresh inch on top. Glades were more abundant (but conditions were not great in them). Zero lift lines on a high speed quad were nice but it was bitterly cold and we had a couple more hours driving to do so after 8 runs we called it a day.
  15. Not sure what the upgrade deal is but they offered it last year so I expect they will do so again. Waiting to hear details on other passes before deciding what to get for next year. Camelback could be appealing particularly if integrated with Ikon.
  16. If you have one or more kids under 18 it comes out cheaper as they have a kids/teens rate
  17. Sat Crotched Sun Wildcat Mon Attitash Tues Sunnapee
  18. For folks who already have a season pass there or elsewhere- CB is offering 20/21 Super Passes (also good this year) for $499 adults and $349 kids and they throw in 3 bring a friend passes and a Camelbeach pass Best skiing deal in PA for someone with 1 or more kids. They are also starting a season pass holder line and will likely offer an upgrade to access Ikon properties as they did last year.
  19. Wow MC did not boost their prices like most areas do and is again offering $229 season passes for rest of this season and all of next. Don't care for MC or live close enough to want to get one, but an insane deal. Less than 50% of what Blue is asking for a pass to an area that is fairly comparable in terms of vertical and acreage (and, unfortunately, crowds).
  20. $429 for kids? Bring back the $99 kids rate and we'll talk Blue.
  21. Nice day at Frost yesterday, lines were small and snow was falling fast enough that I was covered in snow after each lift ride and conditions were noticeably getting better all afternoon.
  22. I have often seen skier carved bumps at CB. Lower Cleopatra often is left ungroomed to bump up. Never seen the seeded ones there - and I prefer the naturally carved ones.
  23. Was reading that one trail they have here - Upper Gunbarrel (not open at present) - has an insanely steep headwall that at times avalanches.
  24. Big Snow has a park too. Didn't see any of those windy trails open the one time I went to Campgaw (when I worked about 15 min away). Basically was just one wide flat gentle slope at that time.
  25. Good point. Campgaw has not much more vertical (240 vs 160), has more expensive tix (good for a longer time, but how long do people spend somewhere this size), is further from NYC and is generally gonna have worse weather and conditions. The main thing Campgaw would seem to have going for it as a differentiator is snow tubing (kind of surprised they did not include tubing at Big Snow).
