  1. We are doing Epic local. The NE pass does not save money for kids at all and has worse black out dates and no Rockies. Not worth swallowing all that to save $130.
  2. I have been to Stowe but have not been this year - didn't work well due to its blackout days on Epic Local pass we have Going to Vail in early April. Was last there about 15 years ago.
  3. I don't expect to be there much in March so if you want to give it a try there's your chance.
  4. True - I normally think of it more with the Catskills areas as distance is equivalent but definitely in PA.
  5. Cool cause Hunter certainly does not need more people. It is kind of the Blue of the Catskills. Definitely not my fav place in the Skills, just the one that is on my pass.
  6. We skied Hunter since you ask. I am partial to my daughters company but am glad you also enjoyed the people you were with. Sorry no pix of our food. Thought this thread was about changing it up from PA skiing
  7. Another fine weekend at the place with the most vertical on the EC south of VT
  8. Of the 4 places in PA we enjoy skiing regularly, the cheapest pass would be the best deal for a single mountain pass, yes. Of course one of those places is on Epic, and the Epic pass could be a better deal than a single mountain pass even at a higher price point. And I would not have any interest in a single mountain pass in PA at a place further from me than the 2:15 I am from Montage
  9. Montage is their fav place in PA
  10. Provide a link to $299 Blue pass and I will purchase
  11. I dislike Mt Creek. Have not been there for a decade (when I lived 45 min away I occasionally hit it when I lacked time to go further)
  12. I like Montage better than the Epic PA options other than Whitetail (which is as far as Hunter). Likely Epic will be my best bet again though if I want a mega pass - especially as kids will still make the cut off for child rate by 2 weeks (not 12 yet on April 6). But gotta see their pricing. Could also consider doing Montage and ponying up for our more distant trips.
  13. Is anyplace as good offering a season pass for less in PA? If so I would love to know about it.
  14. Only candidates for best deal in PA for me would be the places I like skiing that are significantly closer than Hunter. So that is to say it is a better deal than the passes offered by Blue or Camelback. Waiting to see what Frost/Epic deal is. Not being Blue not even a factor. If Blue were to offer a pass at the identical price I would say it was the best deal in PA. But not at 40% more $.
  15. Montage offering $299 passes again for 20-21. Definitely the best deal in PA. Considering perhaps doing both this and Ikon Base - could get both for the 3 of us for a total of 1934 - but waiting to see what the Epic pricing looks like for next year before making the call.
  16. Blue is fine as something to hit 5x a year or so. I like it about as much as Camelback which is the same distance, and Frost which is an extra 15 minutes. We just didn't love having a pass that locked us into skiing one place all winter having gotten a good bit of variety each of the two preceding years with the PASR cards and 4th/5th Grade ski passports and this year with the Epic pass.
  17. My stats last year, while not quite this sad, were depressing
  18. Taking a road trip this weekend. Skiing PA 2 weeks in a row got a little old.
  19. Expect I will be with the girls at Hunter Sat and Sun for days 25 and 26 of my Skison. Expect to.top.my vertical record by Sun though I will still be 5 days shy of my 31 day record, which will also become toast this year if we all stay healthy.
  20. Had a good time Sat at Frost for a few hrs, mostly on East Mt trails and glade off Challenge. Nice that was skiable TTB.
  21. Nice to have both but a bumped up Boomer is always my fav of the 2 as WL is an easy cruiser apart from the steep but brief head wall.
  22. My hobby is skiing - not taking our my phone and removing gloves in arctic conditions. Maybe try the NatGeo site.
  23. North Face is my 1st choice for PA skiing generally - on account of Elk being at best 15 min closer than Hunter for me.
  24. Hit Sunappee on the way home on Tues at 11am. Originally planned this to be a brief "break up the drive" visit like Crotched had been on Sat, but pulled in to find about 6" of fresh snow had fallen and it was continuing to come down fast and furious - all light powdery snow and wind blowing it around as well so - helped by the nonexistent crowds that let us ski right on the lift all day - it was basically cutting fresh track in light deep snow every run. The marked glades were truly awesome as well - we tried 4 of them and went back for seconds on 3 of them. There was about 8-12" of powder every direction one might point ones skis and it was nice we had taken it easier at Attitash Monday so the girls legs were in pretty good shape for this. I wanted to take a pic for y'all but when I went turn on my phone the girls complained they were too cold and wanted to keep going (it was cold and windy enough that I bought them face masks for the first time). Best day of skiing my girls have ever had on the East Coast for sure and better than some of their West Coast days. I was a bit worried about the drive home with all the snow coming down, but not so worried that we departed this paradise before the closing bell. First 90 min driving on snowy mountain roads were rough going, but fortunately Inhad bought new tires a month ago after researching which all seasons were best in snow so we were in good shape. Pulled into my driveway at 11 am and tucked my kids into bed real quick as Joy was waiting for me with candles set up all around the Jacuzzi. Hi ho hi ho it's off to work I go - glad it's a short week.
  25. Attitash could not have been more different from Wildcat and totally lived up to its family Mountain rep complete with a dining area so filled with ski bags that there was not a table with foot room underneath, even though we wisely picked to hit it Sunday when there were light enough crowds that we could often ski onto the lift and never waited more than a couple min. Took it easier this day as one of my girls was complaining her legs hurt from the day before (we had pushed it on some legit tough runs including several trips through glades Sat and the girls had set their vertical record that day, passing 20k for the first time). Glades on lower Bear Peak were a nice treat that were at a good level for the girls to do a couple runs through but due to girls tired legs we mostly stuck to the groomers this day and Attitash has some great windy classic New England trails that fit the bill nicely. Overall this place reminds me of Okemo, but with more glades, much less crowds and less posh lifts. The slow lift - only route to Attitash peak - was the biggest drawback - especially on the ride where it stopped 3x.
