Closing weekend roll call..
Ski2Live Live2Ski replied to GrilledSteezeSandwich's topic in Blue Mountain
And CB are 100% open including Baselisk. Look forward to checking that out. If Blue goes Vail I will check it out again when I get my 2020-21 Epic Pass next March. Been fun having a VIP access pass to the best PA skiing within 90 min of my home and occasionally hanging with you all in the lot. -
Closing weekend roll call..

Camelback now saying their offer is good the rest of the season, though may just be for a single day for each pass holder the way it is worded -
Nice, kids have not been to Camelback much at all. Will take them there Saturday. Thanks for the heads up.

Sad to be getting near the end of the Skison. Blue Sat, then see what is left after that -
I'll be at Hunter or Snow 4/6-7 weekend if Blue closes

That is nuts to close on a Friday. Why not just close after last weekend? Throwing $ away.

JF seems to be shooting for 4/1. But maybe they are fooling. Surely that day would not be profitable, so only for bragging rights.

I always want to spend more of my free time in my bindings than I spend chauffeuring my skis
-
Made it home in 3:10 including taking a gas stop and McDs drive through stop. Quicker going there in AM I'm sure. So if we get 2 days of skiing in and spend the night up there, same drive time to ski time ratio as day tripping to Blue. And 2x the ski days with better quality ski terrain and more snow. Gonna be digging the Peak pass.

They suggested the idea in a text after I left, I didnt ask

Also real nice that my friend who just moved to 30 min from Hunter pretty much extended open invite for my kids and I to crash there on ski weekends next year Made a good investment by taking them out to nice dinner and drinks

Mid 40s by afternoon today.

Hunter North area is a lot of fun and would be even better I am sure on a day when all the glades over there are open. Nice that there is never a line over there. It is not the most challenging terrain on the mountain, so I figure the deaths over there are due in large part to misleading sign. There are a couple trails that are listed on the map as blue/black, but the signs on the actual trail list them as just being blue. They come right off belt parkway, which is a blue about on the level of Lazy Mile, but these trails have a pitch more like the double blacks at Blue Mtn. So I can see people seeing these trails that also appear to be marked blue coming off the blue they are on, and seeing them as good options to try, when they are really much steeper (and with fall lines that could send you into woods if you cant turn with the trail)

Great day at Hunter today. Hit at least all the blacks and double blacks and all the Blues on the new Hunter North area. Hit this one trail twice (K27) as it was the most bad ass of the stuff that was open today (only one West side trail was open, and it was groomed). Ungroomed terrain was real soft and nice today. Very different mindset here from Plattekill though, as they groomed most trails into a nice base that will last for several more weeks at least, while Plattekill left it almost all natural to enjoy and seems to be glad to make the most of a shorter season. Of course they also got less fresh snow here (8" to Plattekill's 18")

Could well get up to 8. Would not be surprised if I hit Frost, BB and Snow yet.

This is a pretty low number for me. Only 5. And low number in large part due to having Blue pass Last season - at least 9: JF, BB, Shawnee, CB, Blue, Elk, Montage, Bear Creek, Winter Park

Jfbb dont use stickers. They use tags on plastic bands.

Took some pix later in the day when it got warmer. Will post later. Stayed below freezing all day so will still be awesome tomorrow, ad supposed to warm tomorrow PM. Such a cool place they kept the lifts open an hour after planned closing time as everyone was digging it so hard. In one sign of modernity they did away with the sticker lift tix since my last visit. Is there still anywhere that uses them?

Weekend roll call thread 3/23-3/24
Ski2Live Live2Ski replied to GrilledSteezeSandwich's topic in Blue Mountain
Plattekill absolutely epic today -
Too cold and windy to take pix, going full astronaut, but easily having the best day of Eastern skiing of my life and better than many days that I have gotten on planes for. 18" of light fresh powder for real. 90% ungroomed. No lift lines. Absolutely perfect. Steep steps. Deep everywhere. Lots of untracked trees. Tomorrow they offer free admission to pass holders at other mountains. If you are someone that would ever get on a plane to ski, you should go to the far less trouble it would take to get yourself here tomorrow. If you dont have a pass that will get you free admission, stop on the way up at Potter Bros on 28 and you can get a $60 lift ticket there, which is what I did today. Chose this over Hunter which was closer and where I have a pass, and it was totally the right call. Also well worth missing the free appetizers at Blue to be here.
