  1. Newburgh Rd just west of 191. Asked the kids if they wanted the Blue Mt Pizza or the Newburgh Deli Cheese Steak and they opted for the latter - our third time stopping there on our way home (only Sat, they are closed Sun). Kids are currently weighing our 7 ski pass options for next year as well, though no final decision will be made til Peak Pass pricing comes out on Wed. They may put some largely symbolic skin in game if they want one of the priciest options.
  2. Hit Newburgh Deli & Catering for their yummy cheesesteak on way home
  3. Also hit snowtubing today. The family tube was painfully slow. The single was better, but after one run in each the girls were done and pretty much over tubing now, realizing how much more fun skiing is.
  4. Best day of PA skiing I have had this skison. 13 runs with the girls (their most yet at Blue) including every trail and glade. Switchback was my fav, especially early.
  5. If nothing else it should make for short afternoon VIP lines (not that lines should be a real issue by March 23)
  6. Have folks noticed that this is now up on Blue's site? You need to pre-register online, which required me to create a new log in as I guess they revamped their system since I bought our passes last year. Who's going to hang out late enough to hit this on the 23rd?
  7. Blue failing to offer a kids deal is the real issue. Not saying that kids necessarily deserve a better deal, but in my case with the kids only being able to ski half the weekends, a season pass needs to be a real good deal to make sense for them.
  8. I know it's not as exciting as reading that a bunch of folks are skiing Blue tomorrow, but some are not
  9. For those tracking pass options, Belleayre is 629 (199 kids), or full ORDA pass 759 (299 kids). Adult pass too expensive to be worth it, but might consider getting kids passes (likely the full ORDA one and plan our longer getaways for Gore/Whiteface and then a frequent skier card or a couple 4 packs for me). Let's see what Peak offers next week and weigh the options with the kids.
  10. Nice to see Blue in the zone for 2-5" all snow tonight!
  11. A few is 3+, a couple is 2, and I got a call from someone who used to work there saying 22", urging me to come up tomorrow. That rounds to 2 feet to me.
  12. And likely to be especially sweet tomorrow as they are closed Mon-Thurs, dont groom at least 75% of their terrain when they get freshies, and dont have crowds skiing it.
  13. Plattekill got a couple feet of snow this week I hear. Place to go this weekend, but closed Mon
  14. Yep one of my 11yo twins. Thanks.
  15. Value pass good weekends this March too
  16. Salty does have a point that last year's Peak Drifter pass was only for folks under 30, but rules could be different this year. And of course Peak Pass applies not just to Hunter but also to Frost, Snow and 7 other places.
  17. Probably best not to spring for that Blue pass before finding out how much better the skiing at Hunter is and finding out on March 6 what kind of deal Peak will offer millennials this year.
  18. Yes, that is a factor against Montage and CB. Less so against the other options as I see NY/VT/Rockies skiing options as distinct enough that Blue isnt real competitive, particularly as they will likely be available after Blue closes its slopes. And is offset by the fact that Ikon deal is unique to while they will be under 13 - so only next year.
  19. Of course if I can get in on the betting action, depending on odds and $ caps on bets, that could influence my decision. Who wants to let Pete Rose in the HOF? Like if you will give 10:1 odds against me getting Blue passes, and take a $100 bet, I will even bring the sausage when we make it on a Sunday.
  20. Why dismiss Montage? PS&R cards also an option Definitely passing on Mountain Creek Not doing Blue. Maybe the following year. 4 strikes against it - more expensive pass price than at least Montage, CB, Ikon options - no kids pricing makes no reason to do it this year over others - we are getting a bit bored going to same place every weekend and would not want a second consecutive year devoted to same place - it is the only pass option we would not get any benefit from this Spring, as we already have passes there this year
  21. Very attractive deal to consider, thanks for the heads up. One thing that is appealing about Montage is that there are some pretty good quality reasonable priced hotels a few miles away (I like Hampton Inns), making it a better option for both weekend days than Blue is, mitigating the greater distance and an easier place to ski Pow days (also helped by proximity to Interstate. And of course the "never a lift line" factor. Considering this, Ikon, CB Value, and waiting to see what offers Peak and ORDA come through with.
  22. They are into the sha la la la la low
  23. Nah paying full freight, about $100 each, but it does count as an early birthday present
  24. Sat AM with girls it it doesnt rain. Sunday we will be experiencing indoor winter in NYC.
