2/12/19 Root got ‘recked on Razors Runout
Ski2Live Live2Ski replied to zzslope's topic in Blue Mountain
Would have been better customer service to offer a loyal pass holder who got hurt due to their negligence something for sure regardless of having CYA boilerplate on their passes. But never had the impression these folks were all warm and fuzzy in the way they operate. -

Thanks for the report. Was thinking of heading up to Plattekill in 5 weeks. Will have to make sure they have gotten in better shape before I do. -

Assume is is following that snakey path - looks like it could be one of the cooler trails in NEPA.

No plans to go there real immanently, while sporting a Blue pass. But I look forward to checking it out when I do.

CB has another new trail opening next week, a TTB tight twisty double black under the lift next to Rocket where the Alpine Slide used to be. Baselisk Surprising with a new trail is a nice contrast to announcing one is coming soon 5 years in advance

If I got the Peak pass I would be at Hunter at least as often as JF and would take a few trips to their New England Mts instead of going put west. Montage I just stick on the Northface where there is never a line, and I am haplier spending the extra minutes on the lift than spending them in line.

I mostly ski mornings at Blue because crowds there bite in the afternoon. Especially as far a drive I have and the effort it takes to get out with kids, shifting to afternoon wouldnt be too bad. I'm not sold on this yet, still considering doing the PS&R cards next year and then a pass the following one, and still waiting to see what Peak and Montage offer. But it is more viable for me than Blue deal and more appealing than MC.

Value Pass, which is pretty flexible being good every day in March/April, even on holiday Mon-Fris, and at 3 PM other weekends. $700 for 3 of us.

1 adult pass and 2 kids passes at CB. Does MC have cheaper price for 12 yos?
-
Because 3 passes would cost $100 more than I spent on Blue passes this year?

Honestly I found pipeline was the only trail that generated any adrenaline and it is gone now. The Cabriolet is the most annoying lift on the planet - combining taking off your skis, standing, and being in the wind. Even when I lived 45 min away and anywhere better was 2 to 3 times as far, I never made it there more than twice a season., and would as often go to Hidden Valley a mile away. I'd get 3 value passes at CB for the same price and get a lot more enjoyment put of them.

Value Pass looks like a decent deal. Seems to be valid Mon-Fri even during holiday periods, 3 PM isnt too late a start, and weekends are available starting March 1 in 2019 and 2020. 3 of those passes would cost just over half of what 3 Blue passes would cost us. Not sold yet, but more tempting than the Blue offer. Even 3 Super passes would cost us only $100 more than 3 Blue passes, given cheaper rates for kids.

$229 pass is quite a deal. Too bad I find MC such a dull place to ski.

Have they announced a pass holder party?
-
They could raise the 6th grade girls price for 7th grade by the same amount they are raising the price I would pay for an adult pass (that is to $129), and they would then have 3 sales, and sell a bunch more pizzas and cocoas - just sayin', in case anyone who reads this is from Blue and is contemplating offering 7th grade deals 🙂

No I have no basis for evaluating competence of ski patrols -

Ski patrollers have to master certain skills to pass tests and advance to higher levels of ski patrol-ness. So their training on navigating bumps with sleds is likely necessary for them to be able to do so is likely valuable to them for that reason, even if it is a skill they would rarely have to use at Blue (though there are rare days when a natural dump is left ungroomed and whole trails get bumped up when such skills would be required even at otherwise powder puff mountains). -
Not really, I do make a thorough analysis before doing it though. I knew exactly what car I wanted before contacting any dealerships. I spent all of about 5 minutes analyzing whether season passes to Blue made sense to me at this price.

Only 6 cards still available doesnt equal only 6 were ever available. I usually email the guy there in charge of getting the cards for updates when I know I will want the cards. When the cards were not selling out, he emailed past cardpurchasers directly.

They did not sell out this year until making an extra plea to see if anyone else wanted to purchase them. So I am glad to take my chances next year unless a better deal pops up.
