  1. Some of the best conditions I have skied at Blue today without a natural dump. Every run (except cookie filled challenge and the glades) was run of the day. Sidewinder best of all.
  2. No twins this weekend, they will be back in a week
  3. I will be there tomorrow AM.
  4. Only one day on skis since they were tuned at Half Pipe, but still prefer less icy conditions.
  5. How well do folks think Blue will recover by tomorrow from today's rain followed by tonight's freeze? Better to wait til Sunday?
  6. Dont know why folks are antagonizing this person. You dont like the offer, pass on it. Is there a rule against selling gift cards?
  7. Nowhere near that, and I am on salary not hourly. But I am one of those lawyers who works under 40 hrs a week and prioritizes time to spend with family, time to ski, time to play music, etc over maximizing my income. Positions like that are a lot harder to come by than ones that pay the kind of rate you are quoting and expect 100 hr work weeks. I make enough to do the things I want to do if I budget wisely, and have enough free time to do them. You could not pay me enough to make it worth spending 100 hr weeks lawyering, unless it was enough that I could do it for a year then retire.
  8. Never been to Loveland, but a lot of places only scan passes on lifts from bottom, so you can get a whole day on a half day ticket by only using upper lifts after mid day.
  9. I used a coupon from Barb for WP last year, got a deal at Copper with lodging purchase this year (which included free tix for kids all 3 days, 1 free day for me and discounts the other 2 days). There are so many awesome places to ski in CO, I figure out which of them I can get a good deal at and go there rather than getting my heart set on one and then finding the best price I can get there.
  10. Ouch @ window price. Last time I paid window price anywhere it was probably no more than $30.
  11. Agree. No reason to waste time driving place to place and switching hotels. Enjoy WP.
  12. Enjoyed staying there last March
  13. There is room for 2 people behind the hot water fall from the upper pool to the lower. That is where I proposed. I kept the rock in the cottage though.
  14. 11 fun runs with the girls - I think the most they have ever done at Blue. Thought Sidewinder was the best. Did everything open to the public and hit that and Baumer/Lazy 2x. Both glades were nice today. Pizza & Cocoa for lunch.
  15. Sunday for us. Skip the cold tomorrow morning and likely lighter crowds on super bowl day.
  16. I haven't been to Stowe in ages and have no idea what I skied there. Most of my VT skiing was when I lived in NYC or North Jersey and had no kids, so Fall 1988 - Spring 2007. When I have been back to VT in recent years it has most often been with kids in tow, we have not gone north of Sugarbush, and we have not done the real challenging stuff, though they now would be able to tackle a lot more. Saying Rockies are better skiing than VT doesnt mean they are harder skiing than VT. Certainly icier conditions can make Eastern skiing more challenging. I stand by the PA is barely skiing part, but it's what I can get to on a day trip with under 4 hours in a car, so it beats getting fat watching football every weekend.
  17. Boston people ski NH or ME. NYC, Albany, Stamford, Hartford and Springfield and VT people ski VT. And some of us NJ folks. If going for an overnight ski trip that is usually where I will go. Plane travel sucks and adds major $ (even if in form of miles). Rockies are definitely better. But Stowe is as big a step up from PA (barely skiing) as CO is from VT IMO.
  18. One AM, probably Sat, with girls
  19. If you go to Stowe no need to wear your helmet while driving.
  20. Was flown round trip to Boston for work function. Friend with place at Sunday River picked me up for 3 days skiing
  21. Ok so you saved 10 minutes compared to renting skis. I waited an hour at Newark in April for the odd sized items to show up at Baggage claim when I flew with skis (as I was flying a real airline back from Boston after my Sunday River trip)
  22. If you are going to multiple resorts, save money by renting at a ski shop not at a resort. The time it takes to rent skis is less than the time it takes to deal with skis at baggage claim 2x.
  23. I think it was about $75 as I got a discount on it with the lodging booking. And I would have wanted to rent fatter skis anyway so just bringing my boots would not have saved me much. Some folks are real sensitive and need to have just the right boots, I understand. I'm not.
  24. You fly Frontier that carry on costs you like $160 round trip. Never find I have any problem getting good fitting rental boots and they are almost free if renting skis anyway. Saves $ and saves carrying crap. Sorry I like going on ski vacations not piss away money and carry stuff in airport vacations. Pack smart in a personal item sized backpack and afford more western ski trips that way. Fools and their money . .
  25. Wear the helmet on the plane (for a minute when you walk on, then it comes off), rent skis out there to suit the more powdery conditions, and rent the boots too unless you are one of those crybabies that has to have the one pair of boots that makes your feet feel so cozy.
