Any good CO winter break deals?
Ski2Live Live2Ski replied to Ski2Live Live2Ski's topic in General Chat
Even the groomers had about 3" coating of untracked powdery snow on top of a firm but not icy surface, and it was coming down enough and uncrowded enough that you could get that surface through most of the day, particularly along the sides. It was about as ideal conditions as you could get. Girls made lots of turns in the trees alongside the trails too. Girls will go higher up and onto blues tomorrow, but the blacks here are too much for them. In PA they are good on blacks but so far largely avoid double blacks. -

Don't recall the brand. Awesome powdery day, dumping the whole time. Took some shots in Revolution bowl. Only took my camera out once so all shots are from same spot just pointing different directions. Skied greens in the AM with the girls then blues and blacks and double blacks in the afternoon on my own. -

Checked into Mtn Plaza hotel, kids in bed, sipping my IPA. -
I bought them plane tix, lift tix, and a hotel room a stones throw from the lift at Copper. Leave Sunday, Ski Mon-Wed

Bummer. Was thinking about heading up tomorrow PM since kids have early dismissal. Oh well, guess our next turns will be in natural snow.

Hope they need cash badly enough to sell next years passes for that amount in feb
-
It is about an extra 40 min for me, North Face is my fav terrain in Poconos, I like that it is never crowded and that there are affordable hotels a couple miles away if I want to ski both days on a weekend. And I expect to be feeling a bit burned out on blue after a season with a pass. If I got a Montage pass on Feb, it would add variety to my late season this year, and then get Blue again next Feb. Shouldnt all those signs and the fact that you can see the head wall from where you get on the lift dissuade folks from finding themselves in that situation?

12/15/18...no rain..a little foggy..PASR day.
Ski2Live Live2Ski replied to GrilledSteezeSandwich's topic in Blue Mountain
Another fine day yesterday. Glad I hit the snow just as fog was lifting and had only one low visibility run. 4 consecutive weekends with no real lines and a little extra terrain open each weekend is a great way to start the skison. -

On the Snow now has rain stopping at 4am. Gotta love a day when I can ski in the AM, rehearse late afternoon and gig in the evening. -

Mele Keliki Maka also on the new Monkees CD -
More a fan of ungroomed conditions, but whatever floats your boat.

I've never seen a great appeal to "fresh cord" actually. Untracked pow, sure. And I really would only make an attempt to get somewhere for opening in such conditions, so "fresh cord" would never be an option for me.

Usually go up Burma lift first
-
Burma is a plus. I enjoy skiing every open trail when I am there and more variety is better. Coming from the upper lot, Burma is quite often my first run of the day, or after a stop at the top lodge, as it is most accessible when coming from there.

The title set forth the parameters were Poconos to Catskills, though admittedly I stretched it to NEPA. As to where I am from, that has nothing to do with the game, but I do correct folks about where I am from. While I have lived in 4 different states and presently live in NJ, my first 23 years were in PA so that will always be where I am from. -

The question is whether there is another PA mt that is more similar to Plattekill -

Dec 92 to Feb 2010 almost all my skiing was at the 4 Catskills Mts as I lived in NYC area. Went to Plattekill at least once a year in that period. -

It's a given that all Pokes mts basically suck compared to all Skills mts which basically suck compared to all VT mts which basically suck compared to all CO mts which basically suck compared to all UT mts, which basically suck compared to the Alps, and that if you are from PA/NJ those are really the places worth considering skiing unless you have to be somewhere else for some reason. But that misses the point of the thread
