  1. So you are saying you think it will be decent this afternoon after the rain? Your posts seem pretty negative on conditions above. I was last there Dec 15 before my CO trip and it was pretty decent conditions then.
  2. So I am gathering based on above reports that what is left this afternoon after all this rain will probably not be worth skiing until they get some new snow on top of it. Would folks agree?
  3. Not blaming Blue. Of course the drive is the dangerous part. Sorry if I missed where it was discussed before. IMO, If there is a bar and it is not used or the rider was not wearing a helmet, the rider was not all that concerned with staying alive.

  5. Seeing as how I have to be in Scotch Plains, NJ from at least 11 to 3 on Sunday to perform a tribute to the Million Dollar Quartet, Sat is the day for me.
  6. Yeah hard to muster up much enthusiasm for heading to Blue after CO with the amount they have open and what I read about conditions. Would like to take kids there on Saturday, but forecast not looking real favorable for that.
  7. Usually get one cheeseburger meal and one nugget meal and share both
  8. I suppose I should only ever let them eat hamburgers at McDonalds too
  9. Another awesome day did the back bowls myself for 90 min in the AM. Then grabbed the girls and they skied like champs all day including 5 glade runs and about 1000' vertical of solid moguls. The only thing that will challenge them at Blue at this point are PA ski conditions. Wonderful vaca. Eating pizza before a third hot tip session and mountain shuttle back to DIA, then hope I can catch some Zs on Ze plane.
  10. They will certainly be game for the double blacks at Blue after this They really pull their weight and make it easy, and are real brave and dont hold me back much. It is a joy to share the activities I love with them. Just hope they remember and are willing to wait for me a couple years from now when they blow me away as skiers.
  11. Girls went up to the 12,313' peak, did a black diamond in a back bowl and lots of tree runs this AM. Eating lunch now before heading back out to do the ambassador-led mountain tour at 1pm. They are awesome skiers
  12. Mountain Plaza hotel location is ideal and outdoor hot tub is real nice but room itself has seen better days. Small bath with lame tub and hole in door where hook once was. Off to check out Xmas festivities with Santa leading a torchlight parade down mountain and kids parading with glowsticks (though my girls deemed themselves too mature to participate in that). Been flying into DIA enough that I have a fav restaurant there I hit every time - Mesa Grill
  13. Even the groomers had about 3" coating of untracked powdery snow on top of a firm but not icy surface, and it was coming down enough and uncrowded enough that you could get that surface through most of the day, particularly along the sides. It was about as ideal conditions as you could get. Girls made lots of turns in the trees alongside the trails too. Girls will go higher up and onto blues tomorrow, but the blacks here are too much for them. In PA they are good on blacks but so far largely avoid double blacks.
  14. Don't recall the brand. Awesome powdery day, dumping the whole time. Took some shots in Revolution bowl. Only took my camera out once so all shots are from same spot just pointing different directions. Skied greens in the AM with the girls then blues and blacks and double blacks in the afternoon on my own.
  15. Checked into Mtn Plaza hotel, kids in bed, sipping my IPA.
  16. I bought them plane tix, lift tix, and a hotel room a stones throw from the lift at Copper. Leave Sunday, Ski Mon-Wed
  17. Bummer. Was thinking about heading up tomorrow PM since kids have early dismissal. Oh well, guess our next turns will be in natural snow.
  18. Hope they need cash badly enough to sell next years passes for that amount in feb
  19. It is about an extra 40 min for me, North Face is my fav terrain in Poconos, I like that it is never crowded and that there are affordable hotels a couple miles away if I want to ski both days on a weekend. And I expect to be feeling a bit burned out on blue after a season with a pass. If I got a Montage pass on Feb, it would add variety to my late season this year, and then get Blue again next Feb. Shouldnt all those signs and the fact that you can see the head wall from where you get on the lift dissuade folks from finding themselves in that situation?
  20. Another fine day yesterday. Glad I hit the snow just as fog was lifting and had only one low visibility run. 4 consecutive weekends with no real lines and a little extra terrain open each weekend is a great way to start the skison.
  21. On the Snow now has rain stopping at 4am. Gotta love a day when I can ski in the AM, rehearse late afternoon and gig in the evening.
  22. Expect to be there one day weather permitting. First choice Saturday.
  23. By the way The Beagles have our NYC debut this Saturday night in case anyone will be up that way. Playing New Old Rock Deli from 9 to 945 pm
