  1. Blue is to the Poconos as Hunter is to the Catskills (Most crowded, biggest vertical, closest to a big city) Camelback:Pokes::Windham:Skills (Fancier facilities, slightly less vertical, a bit more spread out) Montage:Pokes::Belleayre:Skills (but upside down) (Lodge at midpoint with tough stuff in one direction and easy stuff in other, regularly leaves much of harder terrain ungroomed). This comparison likely thrown off by Gondola, but I haven't been there since it opened. Elk:Pokes::Plattekill:Skille (Further than everywhere else with no fast lifts and ancient facilities and some of the toughest terrain). But for this analogy to really work Elk would have to open up its trees. Thoughts?
  2. Corrected route above
  3. From my place I go 31 72 22 Hackettown Rd exit and back roads. But I sometimes come from my parents house in Jenkintown 15 min from Ft Washington exit. And during a snow storm I could see opting for Tpk over back roads from either place, Nd opting for Lehighton over having to go up and over Mt coming from 145
  4. Ski2Live using upper lot, Ski2Live kids splitting hot cocoa and (late addition) "putting skin in the game" stand alongside SMH and WTGAI as the forum "greatest hits"
  5. Cost really not a factor. I get to upper lot and get the "I'm here" feeling. Never crosses my mind to drive an extra couple miles for the privilege of having to ride a lift before skiing. I could imagine I will do it one day when road conditions make me opt for Tpk to Lehighton instead of standard route, or if I promise girls snowtubing after skiing. I did park in lower lot when I took them tubing there in 2011.
  6. On the Snow app shows rain ending Sat AM. But my flipping the coin in my pocket app is about as accurate as weather forecasts 5 days out.
  7. Saves gas, saves time, nicer lodge IMO. Plus I am on an upper lot streak that is older than most of you - since 1981 or 82 when it was still the only lot.
  8. Pulling for 5 or less
  9. So when are folks thinking we get Tuts, Shuttle and Homestretch open, imagining this will get done before Crossover and Falls.
  10. For 3 of course, my treat.
  11. Also my biggest food splurge yet at Blue. Cheeseburger, Fries, Soft Pretzel, large Hot Cocoa and one of those Raspberry cakey pastries. Of course the 10% discount brought total bill down from 20 to 18.
  12. You guys missed it with your crazy early sched. The winds had the pow pow t-deep in BBaumer by early afternoon but you folks passed up the goods in favor of upper lot brewakis. Winds from the West will likely have blown the stash over to Sidewinder or beyond by this AM so I wish I had snapped a pic for you but, as they say, there are no photographers on powder day. Maybe I can do it Blue style and post some pix of powdery trees in Utah for you
  13. Pretty sure there is a warning sign at the top saying it is freestyle terrain. You went over a ramp by accident? We got 9 nice runs in today. How did you not know that run was a park? First rodeo?
  14. I track my expenses. I dont worry about them.
  15. Actually we have 15 skier visits in so far. Averaging out at $40 per skier visit if we did not ski again this season. You know I have taken advantage of the 10%. And kids are psyched for whenever tubing opens. Family tube is a fun thing. I took them tubing at Blue when they were 4, but one chickened out and stayed in lodge with Mom (was still married)
  16. Yep, that what got me to buy my pass no doubt. Still at 199 a person avg, we make put if we go once a month as a family even if I never go along. Throw in the skiing we did on the passes last Feb-Apr and they may have paid for themselves by this weekend.
  17. Pretty remarkable that at Early Bird price of 399, pass pays for itself in 7 weekend visits compared to online price and 6 compared to window price. Go twice a month Dec through March and it more than pays off. Though not as good a deal as PS&R cards unless you factor in 2 $99 passes for 6th graders.
  18. Wow just saw email with prices. $60 on line / $65 window seems pretty steep for a weekend. What were they last year? Never actually seem to pay standard price.
  19. Didnt see that news posted here before, sorry
  20. Check out this item in Skier News. We could get the new trail open this year with enough natural snowfall
  21. Tuts to Blue Baumer to Lazy to either L Sidewinder or Falls is one of my fav runs
  22. I've skied through that glade many times enjoyably and they def get man made snow in there.
  23. What's wrong with the glade off Lazy? Did not know that was frowned upon.
  24. I will say this is an awesome year to have our first Blue pass as they are putting the other NEPA Mts to shame with their early season efforts at opening terrain. Plus lines have amazingly been nonexistant so far.
