  1. Report now shows River Shot open. Still no Floyd's, but of the two I prefer RS for the views - and also tends to stay better conditions all day with the two step headwall and width.
  2. Enjoyed RT yesterday. Lines not bad. Pretty much all but Gunbarrel open now and they are making snow on that.
  3. If you are gonna spring for lodging head further north
  4. I'll beam down from Stowe
  5. Lines got bad at JF too today - by around 920. Prob not as long as Blue - but the runs were shorter. Got 7 runs in before quitting due to lines. Real nice skiing surface with as deep fresh show as I could want and even skied a bit of their glades.
  6. Most likely going to Frost for my first PA day of the season. Tomorrow's forecast does not look fun for a RT drive to Hunter. Fresh snow will make Frost fun too with easier access from highway and easier to get there early. Will go the long way up Tpk for clearer roads.
  7. Na na na na na na ski on Sunday
  8. Bummed that WNEP Meteorologist John Hickey seems to have gotten canned. His reports (also posted on FB) were a great source of info on PA ski related weather.
  9. Moved the BC trip to Spring Break when more terrain will be open there. Turned out they got a decent amount open, but it was looking shakey when I had to make the call. Had fun at Snow, Stowe and Okemo instead.
  10. 9 days on skis by 12/26 = great start to the season
  11. Thanks for update. Think I will be heading back to Hunter tomorrow. Will hit JF once they have more open.
  12. Had good fun yesterday doing 17 runs with the twins on soft but full coverage conditions on Minya Hellgate Belt and Overlook. Best conditions were Overlook (surprisingly) and it was nice that it was served by an express lift as Flyer went down for day at 10ambig turns. Widening out to 7th Ave was fun for big turns. Lovin that my teens are speeding down blacks at Hunter all day long skiing as hard as I am. A great reward for all invested over 10 years getting them to this level as we start their 1qth skison.
  13. Cross between humor and pointing out some truly dumb stuff that ski areas spend $ on which happens to be more relevant to a discussion about lights than most other things posted here. Maybe start a definition of humor thread. Try to stay on topic.
  14. And speaking of lights the prospect of shifting colored lights on blue's snow tubing runs is super exciting. I expect skiing will soon be yesterday's news in Palmerton unless Blue upgrades their lighting to similar standards mountain wide
  15. Take it to the Blue discussion
  16. Looks like JF for me Sat unless Hunter dodges the rain on Sat or Sun. Will stay home Fri. Not burning a Vaca day for this level of skiing.
  17. So basically 2 TTB runs like JF.
  18. Not bad - that is 4-5 distinct runs if they pull it all off And I can see how they would count 13
  19. It doesn't matter really - that was a joke. But I am a diehard upper lotter since before there was a lower lot. Little Gap class of 1981. Yeah I'd rather be at Hunter if rain doesn't force my hand
  20. Worth paying to ski that over Jane's and One Park at Frost if Hunter is a washout. Want to get all the skiing I can in for my girls before we hit Beaver Creek 12/23
  21. $57 for a 4hr ticket is quite reasonable. Actually may show with the teens if 1. The current forecast holds with much less chance of rain in PA than in NY or VT 2. There is a worthwhile trail offering compared to JF (which will only have 2 blue runs with 400' vertical). 3. They open the upper lot If the briefly posted 13 trail count holds true, what do folks think the offering will be? I'm sure some will be of negligible interest like Tuts, Homestretch, Crossing . . .
  22. I expect to switch to Ikon next year as I consider both Blue and Cbk to be "better ones closer to me" than JF
  23. Epic has 8 PA ski areas - which I believe is more than they (or Ikon) have in any other state I wish they had better ones closer to me. Of the non-Ikon ones the most appealing additions would be Montage or Elk
  24. Neither dead nor all that innocent but won't make opening day at Blue. Might be at Hunter, Snow or Okemo depending on where it's not raining this weekend. Hope it's good enough weather to only go as far as Hunter. JF's opening with very limited terrain is not tempting.
