  1. They bother with the dirt lot and look out for other forms of recreation as well
  2. It was on the list at the first concert I played with a group called Stonehenge (pre Spinal Tap) in grade 10. As was, of course, Stairway. :-) Helped that I was recording in Lahaska, so I often went there on my way home from Poconos. Plan to finish recording a week from today.
  3. I'll be there one day assuming it's not raining. Then probably BB following weekend one day. Then 2 days at Sunday River weekend after that and call it a skison, having skied 31 days, 2 more than my prior best.
  4. They may charge full price but only fools pay it. Have not paid full window price for lift tix in years. Anyone who wants to go on a weekday should at least use the $5 off coupon from PA Ski Association site :-)
  5. Not really. They don't have any friends that board, and I think the fad is more or less over compared to where it was a decade or so ago. We did talk about snowboarding briefly in CO. They asked if I had ever tried it. Answer - I did a lesson one day at Blue because their Mom was done skiing (she has weird shaped feet that she could never find boots to fit well) and agreed to try that with its softer boots if I would for a day. We spent most of the day falling on out butts, she wasn't inspired to do it again, and I concluded why would I ever do something that hard for me when I could only do it when I was somewhere I could do something I loved and was good at. I went on to gratuitously tell them that if they ever wanted to try it, it would be something I would really.not be able to help them with as I had no idea how to do it. Topic closed. But I would still love them if they decided to come out as snowboarders (or in any other way).
  6. I do all kinds of work for free actually. Pro Bono legal stuff and organizing charity events. But I do like getting a deal. I would not have bought 90 lift tix for my kids if each one had cost me $60. Deals make it possible to share my passion with them.
  7. An enlightened way to make money is to provide good service to your best customers to keep them your best customers even if it means not every day you are open your income exceeds your expenditures.
  8. I'm planning to ski at least the next three weekends. The last of them two days at Sunday River
  9. I said I preferred it not that it was better. I enjoy skiing deep soft snow even if heavy. I like the workout my legs get. Some prefer other conditions which doesn't make them wrong. I also said CB had a deeper base Sunday than Blue had on Sat. That was an objective fact, but nice to see this snow helping ensure Blue has a good base for next weekend. P.S. PA ski areas should IMO be staying open at least through mid April with all the snow we have been getting.
  10. Hope BB makes it TTB through the 14/15th :-)
  11. The rain soaking the top layer evaporated. It was still deep and heavy.
  12. Snow dried out, skies turned Blue. Had a completely awesome 23 run day. Enjoyed myself more today than at Blue yesterday. Neither were Winter Park, both were fun. Getting it while I can. Planning to top my 29 day skison record I set last year.
  13. Takin a coffee break after 8 runs - before checking out far side where lodge is closed. Waited out the rain before starting. I like the deep wet snow. It's actually pretty fast if you stay on top and it's fun to carve in. Asp and Rocket are the 2 best runs I have skied so far - twice each. Deeper base by far here today than Blue had yesterday. No MC for me, but you should come back out and ski
  14. Nice. Trees skiable anywhere?
  15. Yeah, and I saw them, but I was skiing sOlo today.
  16. Pretty sure I'm heading there tomorrow after a fun day at Blue today. The skison isn't getting any longer and I gotta work Monday
  17. Yeah, expect I'll be there. Maybe CB on Sun.
  18. Kids decided to save their memories of Winter Park as perhaps their last day of the skison rather than hitting Frost. Next day they could potentially ski is 4/14 and who knows what will be left
  19. On the Snow app. Less positive now but still has Snow 1 to 5 AM before changing to a mix. And no precipitation during skiing hours
  20. Looks like the place to go tomorrow with Blue closed. Chance of snow tonight.
  21. Forecast for JF looks decent. Calling for some snow tonight.
  22. Guess if I'm going anywhere it's Frost. Wonder why they closed.
  23. Got about an inch fresh today, so AM conditions were a bit better today, but PM was better yesterday. Girls made it up to the 12k peak for one run, but altitude quickly caused one a headache, so it was a one time excursion. Did snap some pix up top though. That was part of a 3 hour complimentary mountain tour by a wonderful guide who took us all over the different regions of the area, helped them lear to use a rope tow, waited when they were slow or needed equipment adjustments, and even refused the tip I tried to give him. One of our glade runs is also pictured below, through Tweedledum glades. Not a single spill for either of them, as they handled moguls, glades and runs up to the "blue/black" level. Awesome 2 days for my amazing 10 year old ski bunnies. When I graduated college there is no way I could have pulled off what they did today. Overall our favorite area was Vasquez Ridge where we did 8 of our 23 runs over two days. Thanks so much to Barb for the vouchers!
  24. On track to set my record with 30 days or more. 25 so far, and 2 days in Maine booked for April 21 and 22. This place is a great enabler for us addicts.
  25. How are conditions? May hit it on Wed. Flying home tomorrow.
