  1. Big Bear would be the place for new snow tomorrow, as they got too much snow on local roads to open today, and are opening tomorrow for first time since snowfall
  2. Only impact the snow seemed to have was that it was better than if it had rained more. Mystery why Nightmare is a double black when it lacks bumps. After convincing kids to try it (as double black is scary for them) they were like "this should be blue" and they were right.
  3. Ok Blue looking like a better bet than JF for tomorrow
  4. So looks like JF may have made out pretty well in the 6-12 zone from that map. Any idea how Blue did?
  5. Sounds like Frost will be a better bet. More snow, less crowds.
  6. No better place to ski when there is a foot of fresh snow this side of MRG
  7. Plattekill could have its most crowded weekend ever (maybe even 5 person lift lines) if they are the only ones in the Catskills with power in all this snow (they still had it as of an hour ago, and 12" on the ground with more falling)
  8. Blue unless JF gets significantly more snow. Otherwise saving our tix to JFBB to ski BB once Blue closes
  9. I'm not so sure. First weekend of March with a much hyped snow storm could bring some crowds.
  10. I used to have those "Lunatic Fringe" skis with the Steal Your Face and Rose graphics. That was a Jerry Garcia ski.
  11. I am no gear guru, but Volkl RTMs ski fine for me.
  12. Regular yard sale. Taught me to tighten my helmet strap as a helmet should not be ten feet away from you after a fall. I was done for the day after that one. Felt like Charlie Brown after a line drive.
  13. Going fast is a bit more dangerous in the spring skiing conditions we are having of late as it is easier for your skis to get caught. I took a nasty fall last weekend at the bottom of Falls.
  14. If you hadn't spent so much time waiting for GSS you might not have bored of skiing
  15. Surprised to see the Razors on the closed list for today. They were one of the nicer runs yesterday.
  16. It's because I enjoy being a parent and watching and helping them improve. I actually get way more exercise skiing with them as it takes a lot more work to go slow than to rip down a run. I will go a bit ahead of them in trees or bumps to try to show them a route to follow If I want to go fast, I will often let them get a fair bit ahead of me and then catch up.
  17. I enjoy skiing slower with my kids (actually with the slower of them, as I tend to follow whoever lags so as to provide any needed help without having to hike uphill) every bit as much as I enjoy skiing faster by myself.
  18. Got it in yesterday just in case little is left after the deluge. If we survive in decent form I will be there one day this weekend, unless Frost gets snow and Blue rain, in which case it will be Frost.
  19. Will do my best to get out and meet you folks for the party if it is the 10th, 11th or 17th. Expecting Blue to do any end of season event for pass holders?
  20. Looks like Frost will get a lot more snow and less rain than Blue out of this. Crazy high winds forecast. Wonder if those will close lifts on Sat.
  21. Widow Maker was back. Amazed Blue Baumer still so covered. Had to get another day in before the rain washes more away.
  22. Tie between NMDW and Switchback. Sidewinder is also up there. Tend to agree. When trees are in play, Blue Baumer- Lazy - Falls is up there too.
  23. Other than conditions at times, what do folks see as the real difference between Razors and Challenge? 2 straight shots side by side, right? Falls is steeper at the bottom.
