Are anyone's parking spots safe... Poll
Ski2Live Live2Ski replied to RidgeRacer's topic in Blue Mountain
Terrible to hear about the lack of snowmaking (formerly a real strength of Hunter's) and the back up lift being out. Was the East side mid point to summit lift closed too? I would have thought that would have been a viable option to access the main front trails off the top. -
Darlene went and checked with someone else and gave me that answer, which is the same answer someone else gave me on the 21st.
-
They don't ski enough to be worth even 399 with the other deals I can get
-
Darlene at Blue again confirmed it is on, but only for current 5th grade snowpass holders and only when you get an email from skipa. It makes good sense this way as it attracts deal minded people who have been skiing a variety of places for 2 years to make Blue their home Mt.
-
Then they should not give out false information
-
That would bite. They confirmed to me a couple days ago they were doing it again this year. Otherwise I would not have gotten the pass. I will be pissed if they bait and switch me.

What happened at Hunter? -
Whoo-hoo, $399 for a CB unlimited (age restricted) season pass
Ski2Live Live2Ski replied to saltyant's topic in Camelback
Blue having $60 passes for my 2 6th graders to be was an offer I couldn't refuse. May do CB another year, depending on how much the VIP line entrance makes Blue bearable when I ski. But don't worry I'm not not going to join the "Blue rules CB drools" mafia. -
The tix to CB, JF and 1 of the Blue ones are all on one card so they have to go together. If I could give you just the JFBB one, I would. May be possible late season if I don't sell the cards whole and I or my friends wind up using some of them. I could give away a card with just Big Bear on it if anyone wants that. But if you have a pass to Blue I can't imagine you would want to drive all the way to Big Bear to ski less vertical and easier terrain serviced by slower lifts, even for free.
-
Having just got a season pass to Blue I have some discount lift ticket vouchers I prepurchased available for sale. I have 2 tix to Blue and 1 each to Camelback and Jack Frost. $90 gets all 4 $70 gets 1 each to Blue, JFBB and CB. $25 for just 1 Blue I will throw in 1-3 tix (depending on which you buy) to Big Bear that I deem to be of lesser value PM me if interested

Don't care at all if ski areas get bought or sold except to the extent it leads to a multi mountain pass or increases prices due to less competition and/or price fixing.
-
You think they sold 2500? Any idea how many pass holders they have now?

2/24-2/25 weekend roll call..

Sat AM looks promising -
Might do it another year. Gonna be skiing Blue a lot in 18/19 as I just jumped on their pass deal. And if we go West there are 6th grade passes for kids in CO and UT.
-
Will still hit Montage on the most expected to be crowded days

Grew up in Jenkintown. First time skiing was a weekend school trip to Elk (made the mistake of taking the lift to the top after my first lesson and then struggling my way down the hill for hours). Then took a bunch of lessons at Spring. Then it was pretty much all Little Gap other than 2 days each at Doe and Belle and one each at Frost, Boulder, Alpine and Shawnee (and a few turns at the Split Rock ski hill). Then moved to NY area and basically skied only Catskills or occasionally Mountain Creek until I moved to central NJ in 2000 and started doing mostly PA again.

I know there'll be no need, but I've been at the back of the bus long enough and it's my Rosa Parks moment. -

I will show up if there is enough rain free time in the forecast and enough snow still on the trails. Gotta pick up my pass and try the VIP line. -
Feels like coming home getting a Blue pass as from 80 to 88 about 90% of my skiing was at Little Gap and my first skis/boots/polls were used Little Gap rentals.
-
Try some bumps and trees and bigger places to keep it fresh. I'd get bored just doing groomers at CB as much as you do.

Warm weather do it? Rats I have one day left to ski CB and thought I might see you there. I couldn't resist the Blue pass deal not being young enough for the equivalent CB deal.

Now that I joined team Blue I will be cool enough to meet GSS!
-
So now that I am more likely to do both weekend days at Blue, anyone have tips on clean, bedbug free, affordable hotels in the area?
-
Kids will be psyched. I had told them on Monday to get all the skiing they wanted in this year because they would be getting less of it when they aged out of the 5th grade Ski passports.
-
Called Blue and they said they will be making the $60 season passes for 6th graders available for next year, probably in the summer. So I will get those when they come out and the 3 of us will be skiing Blue all next season for a grand total of $519. Plus their PA SKI Passports and some coupons I have will let them each make four visits there this year. Gonna start waking up earlier on weekends I guess. Can't argue with an affordable pass to the closest and largest of the places I like to ski in PA.
